Ore-Ida tots… no thanks. I was hoping for more from Arlo’s.

In the midst of writing this I’m listening to a group of college kids(sometimes you just know) arguing about how you can’t call it a burger if it’s not real meat. Honestly who cares. Yes I disagree with anyone who even tries to utter the words«it tastes exactly the same.» No it does not taste the same. But is it good? Absolutely. I had the bacon cheese burger and I’ll admit it’s probably one better than 4 out of 5 of all the other burgers in Austin(hence the rating.) Tots were tots, nothing spectacular, nothing wrong with them. Mac n cheese, chili cheese, sweet potato fries, all the about the same. All items are relatively appropriately priced. For a food truck sitting in the back of a bar it easily earns its 4 stars. If you’re looking for something healthy though I’d look somewhere else. Vegetarian/vegan or not these are still big greasy bombs with a ton of calories even if it’s not red meat. Those sides are still empty calories. But if you don’t eat meat then this is like the dirty bar trailer version of mr. natural.

1020% vegetarian If you want to stuff your face full of saturated fat but you’re on a diet, Arlos is your place! Located across from Stubbs in a quaint area. The portion size is good for your money. I always get the bacon and cheese burger which is 100% vegetarian like I mentioned but you can’t even tell. They give you more French fries than you can eat and you will go home stuffed and happy

For a mostly-vegetarian who happens to love meat, this place is great! The vegan bacon cheeseburger and the street tacos had great consistency and flavor. The vegan mac and cheese was the best part though!

Vegan or not, the Bac’n Chzburger is THESHIT !! I wish this place were closer to my home because I crave it so often. My boyfriend gets the Street Tacos. Being from Mexico, he’s always particular about his tacos but says these are authentic and spot on. So far I’ve had the fries, tots, and macaroni as sides and they did not disappoint. DOITDOITTRYIT! YOUWON’T BESORRY!

Loved every bite of it. To say Texas isn’t the most vegan friendly place would be an understatement. Thankfully Austin isn’t too shabby in that respect. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. The food was amazing and obviously you need to eat from a food truck when you’re in Austin! Even if you’re not vegan, id recommend this place!

Okay. Nothing to say that has not already been said. I have been vegetarian for 4 years and my husband has been vegan for 4 years and we have NEVER had a veggie burger like this. Of course we both ordered the Bacon Cheese burger. I ordered fries and he ordered tots. OMG. Perfection. Even the«cheese” and I HATE vegan cheese. Also, I’m the kind of person who hates eating outside and also not a fan of mock meat or «burgers», but I loved this food so much I came back again and ordered the same meal and ate it outside again before leaving Austin for Houston. That says A LOT. Even the fries were perfection. And I will swim rivers for some good fries. Ordered good drinks from Cheer Up Charlies next door and ate the hell out of our burgers. COMEHERE. Austin has amazing vegan fare all over, but come here. Calories be damned.

Pretty flavorless. I’ve had much better vegan burgers. The guy also absolutely forgot my friends order. We saw the cook go outside and take a break. My wife and I had gotten our food already and our friend said«isn’t that like, the only guy in the truck? I don’t have my food yet» To compensate for the awkwardly late food(for politeness, my wife and I delayed eating ours for a bit too), we were given an extra water. Nice but, still weird. Even if this hadn’t happened, I might give this place 2 — 3 stars for lacking flavor.

This food truck is a saint. They provide vegan«bacon cheese» burgers that taste just like your favorites. This is hands-down the best vegan burger in Texas or dare I say the whole US! Before you write it off for being vegan you should try it! It seriously taste the same if not better than the traditional meat versions. They have really leveled up their game with the Mac-n-cheese and frito pie burger!

This is for the truck on Guadalupe. I had the BBQ burger with a side of tots. It was okay. Not the best veggie burger I had, but not the worst. The tots were a little too greasy for my taste. Maybe I should’ve gotten the bac n’ cheeseburger. A healthy vegan joint this is ain’t.

Hell yes! Vegan fat kid food! Yummy naughty junk vegan food! I tried the Bac’n Cheeze Burger &YESSSSSSSSS! I am in love! My husband got the Frito Pie Burger and its a BEAST! Supahh messy but holy shit, good as well! For sides we had the Mac ‘n Cheeze with toppings & Chili Jalapeño Fries! We asked for cheeze on those as well but for some reason didn’t get it… either way, still YUM as fuhhh. The fries remind me of what I remember McDonald’s fries being like! Never have had similiar fries like that before! Can’t wait to come back!

ENVIRONMENT Food truck located in the Cheer up Charlie’s parking lot. FOOD (Vegan?) Burgers, sides and tacos were the options during SXSW. BAC N’ CHEESEBURGER — All the ingredients of a fast food burger, plus bacon and cheese. I didn’t know this place was vegan, but double check that. Regardless, everything tasted super processed. Maybe I came at a bad time during SXSW, so good quality diminished?

«Meh.» Arlo’s has been on my list of places to eat in Austin for quite some time. After reading the Unilocal reviews here it’s clear to me that I made a colossal mistake in passing on the bacon cheeseburger because my meal was not good enough for me to ever make an enthusiastic return. I ordered a street taco/‘chicken’ taco combo, fries and a side order of macaroni and cheeze($ 11.00 total) The french fries were very good. Perfectly fried, slightly over salted. Exactly what you’re looking for a 1am however the mac-and-cheeze was gross. I kept trying to mix it up expecting it to be tastier and it just wasn’t happening and I’ve been known to consume barrels of mac-and-cheeze. Lastly, I’m sorry y’all but the tacos were wack. There are mind-blowing vegan tacos in Texas(Shout out to Vegan Nom truck!) and they don’t serve them here. With an almost 5 star rating Arlo’s was a big let down for me.

If you can make an awesome vegan bacon cheeseburger, I think you deserve 5 stars. I wish a place like this was closer to me. Plus they have tater tots. Super good. Probably my second favorite of the places I ate when I visited Austin, TX. The bar that’s nearby is very pretty as well.

I’m 8.5 months pregnant and also happen to be vegetarian. Sometimes that gives you a hankering for some comfort food, and I’m so glad that I stopped by Arlo’s this weekend to fulfill that«constantttttt craAAAAAvingggg…»(Thanks for that cameo, K.D. Lang). The hubs and I stopped at Arlo’s on a sunny Sunday afternoon and all was calm on Red River. We pulled right into the Cheer Up Charlie’s parking lot and ordered without having to wait in line. It was already off to a great start. I ordered the street taco with tots and my husband got the bac’n cheeseburger with fries. They were generous with the tots and fries portions at $ 2 each. My taco was really flavorful and was also a decent size. The only thing that I would have preferred would have been the option for a flour tortilla instead of corn. The sauce on the taco was spicy, but still yum-0. I, of course, took a couple bites of his burger and I wasn’t mad at it. In fact, if I go again, I will order the burger instead. Fast and friendly service, plus great veg-friendly food! Could I ask for more? I think not.

So I dabble with veganism and vegetarianism and was looking for a good vegan burger. I happened to be downtown and saw this on Unilocal so figured why not. I got the Bac’n Cheeze Burger and let me tell you, it still tasted like a burger. I did not regret my choice in getting this over going to some burger joint downtown. They have pretty awesome sweet potato fries too. It’s right by Cheer Up Charlie’s too so you can get some beer with your food and have a good time. If you are a skeptic towards non-meat burgers, try Arlo’s and see if it doesn’t change your mind!

A Maze ing! My son took us here a year ago for the vegan Bacon Cheezeburger. Words cannot adequately describe how delicious this burger is. So now we are back and made a bee line for this food truck as soon as we got to town. And we’ll be going back again before we leave. This guy in line ordered 4 burgers to go. He was bringing them back to Chicago on the plane. So. Good.

So I had a couple of drinks and worked up an appetite at Cheer Up Charlie’s. Arlo’s was calling my name. The menu is small I recall and the one thing that stood out to me was the bacon cheeseburger. I ordered it and in no time at all my meal was ready. I tore into that burger like it was nobody’s business. It was soooo good and juicy. I could tell it was different, but I thought maybe it was all the toppings and sauciness on it. It was a messy one but so f’in worth the stain on my shirt! It wasn’t until my last bite that I realized all of Arlo’s food is vegan. I really didn’t notice while eating. Maybe I didn’t notice because of my drinks I had or maybe it was because it was that freaking good or maybe because I was so hungry I scarfed it down… anyway it was f’in amazin! I am starting to wonder if I am just a fan of vegan food … anyway whatevs — it’s good food! It has earned it’s spot as one of the best burgers in town for me! I shall return!

A couple of weeks ago, I was at the Vida Vegan Con Bazaar which was a vegan festival with food, vendors and speakers. One of the food trucks that was there was Arlo’s. My friends and I had heard wonderful things about their Bac’N Cheeze Burger so we had to give it a try. The Bac’N Cheeze Burger had a house-made soy and gluten free patty with house made seitan bac’n, melted cheese, mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickles, tomatoes, onion and lettuce. The bun tasted like brioche, which really elevated this burger. It was really tasty and satisfying and ranks high with some of the best vegan burgers I’ve ever had! I absolutely loved it! One of the best things I ate during my trip to Austin.
