Know your Spanish or might get something you don’t want. Thought this would be a place to get a good home cooked Mexican meal. Instead I was handed a take out enchilada de mole and asked when I sat down to eat if I needed something. I had wanted a home cooked Mexican meal on a hot plate. Also, I was told I could have cheddar cheese and what they thought anglos would like to eat. This was not a good experience! Yucka-bucka! My take out portion was smaller than the plated portions. The enchilada de mole was okay and beans so-so. Tasty small portion of rice. I ordered a papaya drink. It was best of all. I did get to taste the mole before I ordered. I won’t return. I like to have a pleasant meal for my money. There is some kind of sincere caring lacking. AURORALOCATION

I really super like this place so today had to be a hiccup. Went to breakfast this morning and I noticed that the food coming out of the kitchen was coming out sporadically. When we got our food one of the plates was VERY cold, like it had been pulled from the fridge. Mine was«ok» but not really up to standard. I’m guessing a new cook?

Tacos de Asada plate was ok. Chips were stale. Most food was pretty salty. Fast service and friendly. Pretty clean. Affordable.

We went for a sit down breakfast and had a very enjoyable experience! I ordered the Divorced Eggs… delicious! My husband ordered an omelet and was very pleased! We’ll be back!

All right everyone, it’s time to rejoice, and shake your collective booties. What’s brought on this display of mirth, you ask? The popular South Federal restaurant known as Fritangas has spawned a sister in Aurora, and here’s the skinny. Seeking just a little snack to ward off that hunger? How about some Molletes? This northern Mexican specialty consists of hollowed-out Bolillo bread rounds filled with refried beans and cheese, then grilled to just the right level of gooey-ness. You could also have a look at their array of cornmeal creations — Sopes are round and Huaraches are sandal-shaped but either is topped with your choice of grilled meats, veggies, etc.(Sometimes Fritangas even has Tlacoyos, which are also corn-based and a bit more oblong than a Huarache). Or why not try one of their quesadillas, stuffed with mushrooms and cheese, spicy chicken, pork rinds…(by the way, if you do go this route, please be advised that the quesadillas served here are the folded kind, not the Sincronizada(one tortilla over another) variety). Oh, those didn’t fill you up? No problem! Here’s still more to meditate over. One of my most favorite sandwiches is the Mexico City wonder called the Pambazo — fried chile-soaked bread stuffed with chorizo and potatoes. And Fritangas definitely does it right — you’ll be feeling the burn more than a certain Secretary of State after just a few bites. I’ve also always been a big fan of Alambres which, in the version offered here, presents no less than five meats(ham, chorizo, chicken, steak, and hot dogs) stir-fried with onions and bell peppers, then napped in thick melted cheese. Ah, you’re in a more marine mood. Well, in that case, a big steaming bowl of mixed-seafood stew [Caldo de Siete Mares] will be just what you need, and then some. Another good choice is Carne Tampiqueña — grilled beef sided with a cheese enchilada, rice and refried beans. But it’s all good, so why not become a regular at Fritangas, and work your way across the menu?

We came here expecting good Mexican food, but when we arrived, it seemed like a fast food joint. We ordered food and sat down, not knowing that it was actually a sit down restaurant. When we got our food, the enchilada was not even coooked. The cheese was still stringy and cold. The rest of the food wasn’t very good either. At least we gave it a try. I’d rather go to Taco Bell.

This food is pretty gross I’m just gonna leave it at that. The only good thing is the horchata.

Color me surprised to find that a place that looks like an old Taco Bell is an actual Mexican restaurant! I’ve been eyeing this place for awhile upon the suggestion of my coworker that they not only serve huge portions at a low price but never really found the time to come here. Enter in a Sunday morning right after a killer workout and in need of some food to fill me up. They have a drive thru(because they used to be a Taco Bell??) so I pulled up and ordered a sausage, egg and potato burrito($ 3.75) and bacon and egg burrito($ 3) and a minute or two later, I was driving away with two huge burritos. They put green chile on their burritos and I got the medium but really didn’t catch any spice from it. It kept me full for a good portion of the day and my fiancé loved his as well. We will definitely be back for breakfast or to get food to go before heading to Dry Dock!

Ugh The waitress was nice but timid and the guy who seemed to be in charge was meek as well. My cheese enchilada had a HAIRINIT and not one piece of the shredded cheese was melted inside ATALL. Also we sat down in an empty restaurant, it took 45 minutes to get our appetizer of a cheese quesadilla and the whole restaurant was full by the time we got our entrée. I’ll never ever go there ever again. I was so grossed out. 50% discount is nice but the food isn’t that expensive to begin with so yea I guess it’s compensation but I’d rather pay full price and not have hair in my unmelted cheese enchilada.

I have ordered the street tacos, burrito supreme, crunchy tacos, enchiladas, and everything has been so delicious and fresh. I love their array of salsas! I always ask for the spiciest one. Lately my regular order is the beef street taco. They are very generous with the cilantro and onion and the plating is always very pretty. The service here is speedy, you seat yourself, and we always get a friendly server. Everything is very reasonably priced, so that encourages me to return frequently. I love that this restaurant is two minutes from my house. I feel like a few reviews on this restaurant are basing them on one bad experience. All restaurants have a bad day, we are human and people make mistakes. I have been here more than five times and overall it is a really great restaurant. Only give it a bad review if you’ve had more than one bad experience, otherwise you sound like a whiner.

Service is always friendly and their green chile is great. The reasonably priced breakfast burritos are a plus too.

Food is excellent. Prices are great for what you get. This is way more authentic style Mexican than a lot of other places nearby. The bacon breakfast burrito was killer, and the chicken mole isn’t bad either. Settle down Unilocalers with your 2-star reviews. No one cares if they didn’t fill your water glass as often as you’d like or if the napkins were empty. The food tastes good and is very inexpensive. Give it 5 stars and spare us your novel-length reviews.

Very authentic Mexican food and if something is not prepared correctly, they fix it. The other reviews sound like their problems are in communication with the mostly Mexican workers here. Be patient and kind and it’ll all work fine. I found their food to be absolutely delicious and freshly prepared. Happy little place! Living just down the street is nice too!

Mexican food and brunch always go well together in my books. We moved down the street from this place called Fritangas. The building used to be a Taco Bell back in the day and now has turned into a small quick dining joint. We finally tried it out and were not disappointed. I got a chicken fajita omelet with spicy pork green chili and hash browns. Brian decided on chorizo and eggs with potatoes, beans and mild pork green chili. What I learned was that their spicy green chili is on fire! The mild has better flavor and you can taste your food. :) The chicken fajita omelet was killer. The food and service were fantastic. The only drawbacks for this place is that the seating area is small and they close pretty early if you want a late night bite.

I wanted to give this place a shot, I pass by it often and there is always more cars in the parking lot than there ever was when it was any other business. Including Taco Bell! As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the young lady at the register and she was extremely helpful. I knew I wanted a breakfast burrito, I just didn’t know what kind I wanted or how big they were. She probably could tell this was my first time there and she answered all my questions without hesitation. I ended up getting a bacon breakfast burrito and it was a good portion for the $ 4 I paid for it. It was loaded with bacon, potatoes, eggs, and cheese. There was plenty of green chili on the inside(you can never have enough of that) and it definitely filled me up. My daughters like them, I liked them, we will definitely be back. One suggestion, make sure you ask for salsa, they didn’t give me any when I placed the order. This would have topped it off perfectly!

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise, and this place has mostly good surprises at that. I have watched this particular building for many years. It was built to be a Taco Bell many years ago. It has housed coffee shops, donut shops, more coffee shops, and was abandoned for many years. When I saw a new restaurant opened, I figured I would try it before it was gone. After eating here, I think they might just make it(after all). I have had the smothered shredded beef burrito, the smothered barbacoa burrito, and the al pastor tacos. The shredded beef burrito had much more beef than I expected, and was flavorful, tender, and slow cooked to perfection. The barbacoa had a rich deep flavor that I loved, and was even tenderer than the shredded beef. Both come with beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole, and smothered in green chili. I found a mixture of mild and hot green chili to be the perfect amount of heat, and the flavor is fairly good. The tacos were above average, but the pastor was a bit under seasoned, which is heartbreaking as tacos al pastor has been one of my favorite meals since I was a kid and discovered them in Mexico. The tortillas were(unfortunately) store bought. The staff is friendly(or at least smile a lot), and service is prompt. The restaurant is clean, but stacks of unwrapped chips in bowls by the front door are a bit unappetizing(and unsanitary). I skipped the chips. I will return to this restaurant, and hopefully in the future they will fine tune their processes. I think this place could be my new go to Mexican food restaurant.

Pleasant experience on Federal/Alameda and seeing this one opened up here, got me lil excited. Its very old Taco Bell building and I was looking for no frill Mexican breakfast that packed good values and still tasted decent. I know the other location had plenty of breakfast specials and always packed. However. none of those to be found here. Didn’t even see the pan handler like the other place(hope not) The interior was clean, newly remodeled/painted and friendly family staff working and I would definitely give positive points for that. breakfast I got(forgot the name but it was two strips of bacon, heaping portion of hash browns, other half of the plate filled with chips smothered with green chilli and topped with one egg scrambled for $ 10 with side of tortillas). Tasted very meh bland and green chili was very sour and reminded of cheap jar I got from local grocers. It was overloaded with carbs and served with more carbs on the side. I would definitely not order this anymore. …dont ever get this. Paid over $ 13 including tip and I was very disappointed for today’s visit. my stomach still feels uneasy from overload of green chili. I wish nothing but the best to the owner and the staff and thank them to for being courageous to venture out and open another restaurant. However, I m hoping they will really see the feedbacks from fellow Unilocalers and do the drastic changes if they want to survive at this location. I really tried to give 3 stars but this location haven’t earned it yet. 5÷8÷15. Two smothered chorizo bfast burritos to go. Let see how they turn out. Better.

Newly opened 02/23/2015. Things are still a little confused, but service extremely friendly. Dining room seats about 50 – 75 ppl both booths and tables. Was nearly filled for Tuesday lunch. Their menu is enormous and breakfast is served all day. No waiting area for to go orders makes things clumsy for sure. I was also clued in by the owners son the drive thru would be open by April 1st. The patio will be open over the summer. Not planning liquor license for a few months or maybe end of summer at the moment. I’m glad something new came to this location. It needed some new life. I’m awaiting my to go order. If it’s any indication of what’s to come, it sure smells good in here! Updated: I ordered shredded beef burrito with red chili. I am so glad I did! Shredded beef was tender and full of flavor, burrito was stuffed. Big enough for a hearty appatite or to be shared with a neghibor. Red sauce was also a nice surprise as it was flavorful and not just tasting like a bunch of cumin and chili powder like some places nearby. Also shared Queso quesadilla. It was on the smallish side, but again stuffed with melty queso fresco. Nice addition to the neghiborhood.
