Went toThe Eagles Nest Restaurant to have a birthday buffet dinner with my wife and her aunt. The food was ok, but they automatically added on a 18% gratuity for the waiter. All he did was bring the drinks. Pretty handsome tip for providing very little service. My meal was complimentary, so in reality this added tip was 25% of the costs. We live in the HEB complex, but this restaurant will never see us again after pulling this stunt.

This is a great resource of the residents in the surrounding community – having a restaurant right in the community clubhouse is very convenient. That said, it’s not great food. Not bad, but not great. We came here for coffee and dessert one afternoon. The place was totally empty, but the server was very sweet and got us everything we needed very promptly. I ordered the chocolate mouse and my companions got the chocolate cake; I’m very glad that I chose what I did. The cake was somewhat dry and the flavor was a little off. It was definitely frozen and then reheated to order. The coffee was average in quality and flavor. But the mouse was very rich and tasted exactly right. I would order it again if I ever came back.

It’s called The Eagle’s Nest. Came here for Father’s Day brunch. It was hardly brunch, though. They had an omelette station, waffles, chocolate fountain, some other sides, such as bacon, hash browns and biscuits/gravy, but mostly all breakfast items. Nothing was labeled, so you had to open and look at everything. A simple fix, but why wouldn’t they just do that? The omelette line took wayyyyy too long — since that was the only main dish they had to offer — and you were asked what ingredients you wanted well before being able to view them. Why not post a list of ingredients or put them at the spot where people are going to order and not halfway across the table. No one approached our table to bring water, had to flag down a waitress, no one came by to clear away dirty dishes… so many obvious things that could be done to make up for lack of variety in the buffet, but neglected. Had to flag someone down to pay. It was a cruddy experience and it didn’t have to be that way. I am disappointed in this experience and expected much better.
