Had a great experience with this shop on 2÷6÷16. Drove an hour south to get there on a Saturday and got my 2009 WRX dyno tuned. John greeted me and asked me what my wants and expectations were for the tune, he was very informative. They got everything done in a just a few hours and my car has been running strong ever since. Dawn at the front desk was also very kind and welcoming. Great service here, highly recommended.

These guys are awesome. When I moved to Washington, I needed to find a place to bring my STI to be worked on. I’m incredibly picky about mechanics. After much research and talking with other shops in the area, I ended up here and have never taken my car anywhere else since. I drive 45 minutes from Seattle to get my car worked on here and it’s completely worth the drive, every time. Here’s why:
1. The quality of the work.
These guys don’t take shortcuts. I can be O.C.D. about how things are done, and I’ve never noticed anything that wasn’t buttoned-​up on any of the work they’ve done on my car. I want things done right, and I trust them to do it that way.
2. They have fair prices.
For standard service like regular or scheduled maintenance, I haven’t found another shop that can compete with their prices. For hourly work, the rate is what you would expect from a good shop. However, due to their skill and extensive experience, the work gets done much faster than would normally be required. Less time = more money in your pocket.
3. They are Subaru experts.
If you want to be convinced of this, take a drive by their shop and you’ll notice a huge fleet of Subaru’s parked outside, and the shop is full of them. There’s a reason they’re popular with the Subaru crowd. The wealth of knowledge here never ceases to amaze me. They know all of the ins, outs, bugs, niggles and install tricks. Plus they do every type of work you can think of, end-​to-​end, from as raw as building an engine, to welding, electrical work and professional dyno-​tuning. These guys go way beyond simple bolt-​on work. I was particularly impressed with their dyno-​tuning. If you are looking for a good tuner, you should be seriously considering Infront. I’ve not used any other shops for tuning so can’t make direct comparisons, but the tuning work done on my car was really well done. John nailed exactly what I had asked for, and the car is an absolute blast to drive now. I’m convinced John can compete with the best tuners in the PNW.
4. They’re honest.
This is very, very hard to find. They’ve often talked me OUT of replacing or upgrading something because it wasn’t necessary or wasn’t worth the cost. How many shops do you know that would talk you out of giving them money?! In one recent case I was looking to have my car dyno tuned and got quotes from several other reputable shops in the area. Every other place, to varying degrees, tried to upsell me on things I knew weren’t necessary. The guys at Infront were the total opposite: given my goals, they provided sound guidance on what would and wouldn’t work and explained in great detail why. They never seem to be too busy to sit down and talk shop with their customers, which I also think is awesome. If you’re a green shade-​tree mechanic like I am, you might feel a little insecure in other shops, but never here. These guys are really down to earth and are always willing to share their knowledge in a way you can understand. Also, everyone sort of rotates into the front office to deal with customers, so the person you talk to is usually the same person that’s working on your car.

I took in my 2006 WRX wagon on a Saturday afternoon for the shop to delete some CEL codes after removing the secondary air system.
I completed the delete on a random Saturday, called the shop 15 minutes later to see when was a good time to come by. I forget who I spoke to, but the dude was crazy cool on the phone and told me to come by anytime today. When I walked in, I was greeted, handed the keys, codes were taken care of almost immediately. No joke, I was in and out no more than 15 minutes. Price charge was a breeze too.

Cant say enough about the professional work i recieved at outback automotive. On two occasions they have helped to restore my subarus to working condition. Most recently they addressed a P0301 cylinder misfire code on my 2004 STi and changed some drive belts. My car was repaired in a timely manner and at a fair price. Additionally John was very professional as well as honest in explaining why certain aspects of my repair had to be addressed. Even though I had to have my subaru towed 50 miles to Auburn to have her repaired at outback, i would not hesitate to do so again. Thanks again to everyone at outback from a longtime subaru owner. Only wish you guys were located closer to my house.

John John and Kelly know there stuff about Subarus. I have been taking my cars there for the last 2 years. Wouldn’t take it anywhere else!

I have been to an array of shops including AWD auto and CNC autosports, both of which had given me high quotes and tried to get me to fix things that I knew did not need to be fixed.
Dave showed me around the shop my first time and showed me some of the cars they were working on. Good stuff. So far I have gotten my turbo inlet installed here as well as some fluid flushes and have had nothing but great experience. Prices are more than fair. It’s hard to find an honest shop like this anymore.

I like Outback and so does everyone else, which is why this is hard for me to share. I’ve had a number of performance parts installed that I didn’t feel comfortable doing myself but on two separate occasions there have been bolts (and subsequently parts) found loose upon arriving home or I found them loose a few days later. That’s not okay and it’s not worth the comparatively inexpensive labor charge.
The first time I pointed it out and was offered a free oil change which was a great gesture. It happened a second time with a different installation so I call it quits. I used to drive down from Seattle but I can’t justify that anymore with risk for damage to my car or to me.
Other than that, prices are right, service is great, and the waiting area is awesome. I’m sad to see this one go for me.

From oil changes to full scale custom builds, Outback is the best. No question. This is the shop you want to develop a relationship with and stick with them for years. The most honest, coolest staff out there. I will always drive Subarus, and will always take them here.

I’m pretty surprised I’m the first person to review Outback Auto on Unilocal,but I think it might be because they’ve managed to gather a pretty loyal following in the local auto communities and are getting their reviews in forums.
That said, I felt I should add them here not so much to give them credit, but to tell non enthusiasts looking for a place to get their Subaru repaired who the best shop on the south end is, and it’s this one. Basically, if you live on the north end AWD auto is the pace to go… if you live on the south end, Outback Auto is the the best. They do other stuff beyond Subaru, but that is kind of their specialty, I guess… And they’re great at it. I had them repair my Forester twice, and not only were they affordable, but when I brought my car back in because I thought the wheel bearing on the opposite side of the one they repaired had gone bad, they were super honest about it being the side they had repaired and that the part had gone bad. They replaced it for free. AND did more work for cheap.
I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my car here again.
