I am giving 1 star for the service, and that’s the least I can give. If I could I would give Zero rating! Food is horrible, only thing good here is water… I don’t know how this place is in business… They should rename them the biryani to pulav!!! Not at all authentic… Never coming back!!!

Went there to get lunch with wife. The place was just about to fill up. We got seats pretty quickly. The restaurant is nice and spacious and our seats were comfortable. We decided to go with the buffet. Everything I tried was flavorful and delicious. My most favorite were chicken tikka masala, grilled chicken and naan. I loved the food so much that wife and I decided to come back here for dinner the next day. For dinner we got meat samosas which were cooked to perfection. The chutneys that came with the samosas were delicious. We also got lamb curry and chicken tikka masala. Both were tasty. We had kheer and masala chai for desserts. The service was great and attentive. We will be returning!

If you really want Good Indian buffet, go to Madras Chettinaad in Alpharetta. This place is OK, not Bad. Curries are about 50% close to what a good india dish tastes like. Nan are warm, dessert is bad, service and ambience is decent. But again for the same buffet price you can enjoy at least twice the dishes and better taste at Madras Chettinaad(I should ask MC guys to pay me for their promotion, but they are so good that they don’t need any promotion) Anyways, do share if you know of a decent Indian restaurant near Dunwoody, Buckhead area as Café Bombay is definitely Not the one.

The review is for the lunch buffet, since I only go here for lunch. Hands down the best Indian buffet in my opinion. They have the most variety among the Indian buffet I’ve been to, and almost all of it tastes awesome. It is always packed during lunch peak hours, though the service is fast. Love this place!

Ordered chicken biryani to go because I was craving it during my dance class at the gym(i know… what a fatty) so I called them ahead and picked it up 15 mins later. The food was pretty good, and priced reasonably, although it is missing certain flavors and spiciness I remember from a bowl of biryani. So in a nutshell, I have had better biryanis someplace else, but they are close by and quick and if you are fairly new to Indian food, you will be perfectly happy with this place! I would def recommend their buffet lunch so you can try different things!

*** Please Read *** Our close friends hosted a wedding event this past Sunday(May 29, 2016) and Café Bombay catered the event and it was absolutely terrible. The gist of our disappointment: * ran out of chicken 65 * cold food * trays were not refilled timely or left empty for long periods of time. * multiple items were salty * the owner(rick) was unapologetic and combative not owning his epic failure. We highly urge you to NOT use them please, you’ll thank me, I assure you. If I could, I would rate them a negative 5 stars, however I was forced(against my will) to give them one star.

Tons of options on their lunch buffet. Great mix of meat and vegetarian dishes. They have saag paneer, pakora, chick peas in curry… just some of the dishes from the vegetarian options. For meat, they have butter chicken… that is all they need. They have other dishes too like tandoori chicken and goat in curry but why wouldn’t you just eat butter chicken and naan until you can’t move?!

Café Bombay is an Indian restaurant located right off N. Druid Hills on Briarcliff Road. When you first pull into the parking lot, the exterior looks a bit outdated; however, when you walk in, the interior is definitely more elegant with ceiling drapes and curtain decorations(in the back seating area). I can definitely see how this could be considered a nicer setting for dinner. I’ve visited Café Bombay on several occasions for their lunch buffet — in my opinion, it’s a pretty good deal. Endless naan, rice, curries, vegeterian and meat options all for $ 10 – 13 a person(depending on whether you go during the weekday or weekend). While I do think Zyka reigns supreme on Indian cuisine, Café Bombay is a solid second. You get a larger variety and quantity of food during their lunch buffet than you would for a meal anywhere else. I used to be obsessed with the naan here, but when I visited most recently, their naan tasted different(a bit doughier than I remember and not as flavorful) so I was a little disappointed. They have two buffet sections — one is a table set up with all vegeterian options: different curries, sauces, potato dishes, naan and rice; the other table has the meat options with chicken, goat, etc. There’s also a small serving section in between the two hot food lines that has salad, sauces and desserts. Overall flavors are pretty good. I recently tried their mango lassi here but it fell short of my expectations; when the drink arrived, it was a super bright orange — which just screams artificial to me — and tasted pretty strongly of yogurt. I couldn’t make out the mango flavor as much as I’d hoped. Other than that, the food is always seasoned well and never lacks flavor. Café Bombay is a good place to visit if you want to be exposed to a variety of traditional Indian dishes and get a little taste of everything. Service is friendly and price i snot bad. Overall, 3 stars for me.

I hadnt been here for some years, so today my usual Bangladeshi buffet was closed so came here for the Indian buffet. Price was $ 11.00 for the lunch buffet on a Monday. I see others saying $ 13 so maybe higher on certain days. Overall its good, and has enough offerings everyone should be able to find enough to be happy with. The dal, palak, and chicken tikka masala were probably my favorites of all out today. The tikka masala seemed to be a cheapened down buffet version but it was still good! My guess is it had ajvar in it, which is fine with me.. Ajvar is a roasted red pepper sauce without any tomato in it at all that comes from Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and that region. Ive actually used it myself in making the dish as it makes for a nice bright red and I like it. The goat curry seemed to be tough meat, the chicken biryani so so at best, and the mango fruit dessert were the least appealing. The nan bread here is very good also as its not dry like many places. Id give the place a 3 ½ star if we had half stars! Seems like so many places fall right in that range. I have not been to dinner here but most all Indian places have a higher quality food when ordered off the menu so one should keep that in mind.

I really wanted to give them 2.5 stars but I’ll round up, rather than down as I don’t have any other experience with Indian cuisine to compare my visit to Café Bombay to. I had dinner with my guy who loves Indian food. We had the wings as an appetizer, he ordered the chicken tikka masala, and I decided to go with the chicken vindaloo. The wings for me were definitely the best part of dinner– they were grilled, charred in some places, and covered in a salty and tangy sauce that had the perfect amount of heat it, over a bed of fresh onions. My boyfriend loves tikka masala, I on the other hand didn’t care for it as I found the tomato based sauce to be a bit too sweet for my liking. The chicken vindaloo didn’t taste very different from the tikka masala except that it was less sweet and not at all spicy like I was told it would be. Also, there was coriander or cilantro in everything. I’m fine with it both but too much and they begin to leave an soapy taste in my mouth.

I went for a Sunday lunch(2:00pm). It was pretty busy(most tables were full), but we didn’t have to wait. Price: We ordered from the buffet — it’s all you can eat for $ 13 a person. I think it is definitely a lot of food for a good price. Quality: Buffets usually aren’t my thing, because I think they usually look old and sad. However, it’s really busy and so there is a constant refilling of everything there. Favorites: Definitely the Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan, and rice! But, there were plenty of other options to choose from, chicken curry, goat, grilled chicken, and plenty of veggie dishes. Parking: There is a lot with plenty of parking. Free. Seems to be good for groups and kid friendly too!

I went to Café Bombay over 10 years ago, when I was first learning my love of Indian food. At the time, I found it greasy, crowded, and gross and refused to return. Fast forward 10 years later and a colleague requested her going away lunch be held there. I contacted the restaurant via email and easily booked a table for 20 and was assured we could pay our $ 11 buffet bills separately and that gratuity would not be included. Nice! We showed up on the day of the lunch and I noticed the décor had been modernized. We were also taken to a lower room with a long table set up for our group. It was quick and easy to sit down, get lunch, and celebrate. Service was great — drinks were promptly refilled and plates cleared when you got up for seconds. I really enjoyed the tarka daal and chicken tikka masala, two of my all-time faves. I wish there had been garlic naan on the buffet but the naan provided was good. The food was not greasy and yummy. Was it the best Indian food I’ve ever had? No, but it fulfilled my cravings and I ate 2 plates full. Whoops. I will happily add Café Bombay back into the Indian food rotation. What a quick, easy place to get lunch!

DON’T GOHEREIFYOUWANTAUTHENTICINDIANFOOD. Cuisine here is way watered down with mild flavors to cater to the more«American» crowd. I should know because I’m 100% Indian! You’ve got to trust me on this. Go during lunch and you will see what I mean. Go to Mirch Masala for a more authentic and plentiful lunch/dinner buffet! Parking: Open parking lot with plentiful spots. Easy. Ambiance: Outdated Indian/Middle Eastern décor, though this place is strictly an Indian restaurant. Noise level is loud, especially if they have their token belly dancer. Lots of seating in the front of the restaurant and more seat in the back of the restaurant for larger groups. Service: Ok, servers are good with replinishing water and they all speak English. I found a bug in my ice water, and i told my server who just said«sorry» as though it was not a big deal. I was very disturbed by this. Food: most people come here for their buffet, which is below average when compared to typical Indian buffets. However, most of my American friends like this buffet because the flavors are very mild compared to real indian buffets. Their butter chicken is completely flavorless. Chicken biriyani is good and so is their goat curry. Their dessert options is poor. Samosas are quite dry here. Again, I have to emphasize that this place is not authentic indian because everything is watered down to cater to the non-Indian crowd. Also, they serve tap water here and I once had a large roach in my ice. I let my server know and all he did was replace my ice water with a new glass, with a small«sorry.» WTH!!! I took a picture and will post it here as proof. Overall: over-priced, water-down flavorless indian food with roach found in my ice water. I highly recommend Mirch Masala for their buffet or Zyka for authentic indian. The best indian buffet in Georgia is Currylicious in Duluth(but you’ve got to get there early) and Swapna in Cumberland/Marietta is good too. Would never come back after finding a roach in my ice water.

This restaurant is rated #1 Indian food in Atlanta. That precise description is 100% correct! I hosted a birthday party here and made reservations for 15 people about, 3 weeks in advance. By the time 3 weeks had passed, the reservation had increased to 18 people and that was no problem for the restaurant to accommodate. When I got there 30 minutes early, the table was already prepared and ready to go. All the servers were very attentive and helpful throughout the meal with the party. All the food came out hot and fresh! I ordered the Butter Chicken and it was delicious! It came with rice at a reasonable price. All alcoholic beverages tasted different depending on who made them behind the counter relating to the amount of alcohol in the beverage. Besides that, everything went perfectly as planned. The server even took a nice group photo for us! I certainly recommend this restaurant for large or small parties

Tasty indian food, and approved by my coworker visiting from Chennai. He said that it’s about 90% there. Good enough to satisfy his cravings having been stuck here for 4 weeks. The biryani dishes are large, and quite filling. However the other dishes with gravy tend to rely on you eating a lot of naan or other bread with the gravy in order to be filling. Definitely not your average meat as the main cuisine like most American places. I’d recommend the mixed grill as well, as it gives you a good mix of fish, shrimp, the chicken sausage, chicken and lamb.

Café Bombay has been my go-to place when I’m craving Indian food. My review is based on their lunch buffet, since I’ve never ordered off their menu before. On the weekdays, the lunch buffet costs $ 10 per person. Weekend lunch buffets cost a couple dollars more — I believe it’s about $ 13 per person. Although there aren’t more options available on the weekends, the weekend buffets do tend to have more unique options that typically aren’t available during the weekdays. There’s one table of vegetarian options that usually include a spinach dish, a lentil dish, and oftentimes a paneer(an Indian«mozzarella”-like cheese) dish. The naan and plain rice, as well as a hot sweet dish(sometimes a carrot soufflé), are also found at this table. A cold table has 2 desserts(rice pudding and a mango fruit pudding), a salad, and condiments. Right next to that is the carnivore’s table, which usually has chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, goat curry, tandoori chicken, and chicken 65. My favorites at the buffet are the paneer tikka masala, eggplant, spinach samosas, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and rice pudding. The servers have always been very prompt with water refilling and plate clearing. Compared to other Indian restaurants, it’s great(probably Americanized) Indian food for a great price.

Me, Diana T. and Anh B. had lunch at Café Bombay couple of weeks back because we were craving indian cuisine. We order the Bombay Feast(50 $), and it comes with: Navrattan Korma Palak Paneer Chicken Tikka Masala Rogan Josh 1 Nan and 1 Garlic nan For three girls, it was a lot of foods. We had a lot of leftovers. My favorite from the three dishes would be the chicken tikka masala. But it wasn’t the best I have had. The other two was okay but didn’t impress me much. I don’t think I would come back.

Café Bombay is located at 2615 Briarcliff Rd NE, Atlanta GA30329 — I’m not sure if this area is called Briarcliff or if there’s a better term for it, perhaps North Druid Hills? — I generally access the restaurant either from the North Druid Hills Exit on I85(restaurant is East of the interstate) or the back way from Clairmont Rd turning sound onto Briarcliff Rd. The restaurant is in the end of a shopping-center row sort of on the back side of Target so it’s a bit hard to see. It is however, well worth trying. I’ve now eaten here about a dozen times, first visiting for a friend’s party(they have a great large dining area in the back and can easily handle large-ish groups of say 25 or so at one long table) and more often visiting for an excellent lunch buffet. In general the flavors are a bit muted compared to those foods I sampled in India, more Northern style I believe. I particularly like their vindaloo dishes which will provide a level of heat and flavors that make you say«Oh yeah!» Service at Café Bombay is top notch with very attentive, even throughout their very busy lunch buffet. Evenings the place is busy and filled with a broad spectrum of locals and visitors to Atlanta. The bar is better than most similar restaurants I’ve experienced and they even have the very good Lion Stout from Sri Lanka which I recommend — it’s more effervescent than most stouts and lacks the chalkiness you sometimes get with a black beer, with more smokiness and less chocolate. The lunch buffet(about $ 10) has a good mixture of vegetarian and meat options(mostly chicken and a little goat or lamb). There’s usually a pan of veggie biryani along with some seasoned basmati, a few dols and sambar or similar soup. You’ll also typically find sag or aloo paneer, some type of curried vegetables and pakora. For dinner I’ve tried: Aloo Gobi — this is a cauliflower dish primarily, though at Bombay it’s about half potatoes too. I liked this dish but prefer the all cauliflower version. It’s especially good with a bit of mint chutney. Vegetable Vindaloo — one of my favorite dishes here with good spice levels and flavors. Chicken 65 — I’m not quite sure of the original recipe as I’ve had this a number of different ways — it’s most commonly white meat chicken marinated in curd(similar to tandoori) — at Bombay it’s fried and some sliced onion and cilantro is added. The flavors of this dish gets a bit lost with those spicier flavors in the other curry dishes but it’s still very good — I think most Americans would enjoy this as a fried chicken dish, Indian style. Sag Paneer — this mostly green leaf vegetable dish is quite good — I really like the paneer they have at Bombay as the consistency is more like homemade. Garlic Naan — they use real chopped garlic here with a bit of ghee — very authentic tasting to me. Pepper(Bullet) Naan — I do love me some bullet naan and the version I’ve gotten at Bombay is exceptional. It is covered with chopped green chiles and very tasty — not for the faint of heart or weak palate. The exterior of the restaurant is a bit deceptive — it makes the place look small and the heavy window treatments and lack of lighting will make you think the restaurant is closed — do indeed come inside — you’ll thank me later. There’s plenty of parking. (longer review posted in my food blog)

I loved my experience at Café Bombay, and I can’t wait to come back! Great food, great atmosphere in the back room, and very friendly staff. Bonus: awesome belly dancer(family friendly) on Friday nights! The only thing I’d change is making sure we make a reservation! When we first walked in, we saw the simple front dining room packed, mostly with ethnically Indian folk, which got us excited for the food, because surely the kitchen was doing something right to have attracted this clientele. There were also many folks who came in to pick up take out orders.(If I liked closer, we’d be getting take out a lot!) We told the staff that we were there to watch the belly dancer, and we ended up waiting for about 10 minutes for everything to be ready. They were seeing out a very large party, and I think the staff was a bit overwhelmed. They told us «Just a moment» maybe 5 times, which made us laugh. Anyway, after a while we were escorted to the back dining area, which is beautifully decorated! Very plush and colorful. The chai was delicious, I just wish I could have gotten more. The free crispy papadums they brought out with a green sauce was a happy surprise and very tasty. We got lamb naan as an appetizer and loved it. The naan is so pillowy soft! For our entrees, I ordered the chicken tikka masala with naan, and my husband ordered a lamb curry(gosht korma, we think) that was a little too spicy for me but very, very delicious. I love-love-loved my chicken tikka masala! It was so creamy and such a great blend between sweet and savory. I cannot recommend this enough. I wanted to try everything! We’ll definitely be back again, most likely on belly dancer night. I personally know the performer on the night we visited(she’s short and blonde), and she knows and loves her craft. She doesn’t make the dance more sensual than it’s designed to be, and you could tell she enjoyed performing for everyone.
