Where do I start, I honestly have a billion compliments about Bar One! #1, I love the atmosphere. It has a very cozy, but trendy feel to it. #2, the whole entire staff is very warm and welcoming, but our waitress, Autumn, was super awesome! She was very personable, and gave her personal opinion about each of the dishes. #3, THEFOOD, OHMYGOD, THEFOODWASSODELICIOUS!!! I ordered the Oxtail Soup and the Jerk Chicken Salad. I swear, my taste buds were doing a serious happy dance! Both the soup and salad had flavors that were unbelievable, the chef seriously put a lot of hard work in to making sure everything stood out from anything a person has ever tasted.

Absolutely love it. Been twice and each time the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very laid back. The service was timely and I got to meet Cynthia Bailey and her husband, who came by to check on the service. Loved that.

BarONE is THE spot. I had SUCH a blast here the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend! It was the Lesbian Day Party– Sundays from 4p-10p. Absolutely the BEST lesbian weekly event that Atlanta has to offer. A hip, classy, trendy, grown but not old, party crowd. All the famous lesbians(and bi and bi-curious and just curious and just looking and the clueless) have dipped through this event at one time or another. It’s the kind of event and venue that you can take your straight friends to, and they’ll have a great time eating, sipping, and dancing, and feel right at home. Very, very, nice, and very well done. Valet guy was nice, and valet was complimentary. Young lady checking id at the door was polite enough(and pretty). From the moment you hit the door, it is swank in this spot. Everything is nicely done. Nice touches(vases, flowers, sleek seating, etc.) tucked everywhere. The space IS small, but they’ve done so much with it. The bar area is spacious with a few vip reserved seating tables in it. Bartenders are nice, busy– but nice– and again, pretty. ****BEFOREWARNED– a TIP is AUTOMATICALLYADDED onto your drink bill, but there is a space for you to ADD a tip on your credit card receipt, too. Unless you just want to be extra generous, you will end up tipping TWICE if you’re not VERY careful. The music was off the chain, the place was packed, the drinks are STRONG and not overpriced, and while small, there is an ample dancefloor. If you go online( ) and MAKERESERVATIONS, you can be seated in the very appealing dining area and have a meal– the food is GOOD! It’s Jamaican food. Again, you MUSTMAKERESERVATIONS to get a table. If you don’t, you won’t get seated, won’t get a table, and will be standing at the door of the dining area gazing in, mean-mugging at the patrons who are enjoying their meals and drinks, laughing and having a grand time– while glancing over at you every once in awhile. Oh. Food service is s-l-o-w. Like thick syrup, slow. Friendly servers, good food, stiff drinks, great music, sleek atmosphere, pretty people, s-l-o-w kitchen service. Order a drink and be prepared to wait it out for your food. We didn’t see Peter or Cynthia or Kenya or Apollo(oh no, wait, he’s away at camp), or any of the other Real Housewives of Atlanta cast this particular night, but we didn’t want or need to. We had a SUCH a GOOD time!!!

Of course, I heard of this bar on the Housewives of Atlanta but did I expect to go here and see the cast? No, so I was not disappointed at all! The front door staff was very welcoming and professional. We went on a Saturday night around 11pm. The bar service was quick and plentiful of options. The DJ was awesome, and though we may have been the only ones on it — there is a dance floor. The vibe was cool and laid back. Quite a few people dressed very casual so I’m not sure if they are going for sports bar or night club. Either way, we had a blast and will probably return when we are back in the area!

Came here for a birthday party and we got here before the birthday girl. I love the ambience of this place and the Caribbean style of the food. Not everything on the menu is Caribbean but lots of plantains, jerk chicken, beef stew and ox tail soup. We even had a celebrity encounter here. I’ll definitely be coming back.

There was only one person for the valet parking. As a result we left!!! Omg across the street horrible. Cynthia picture was lovely. This horrible experience was on a Tuesday night never again##!#!!!

Don’t expect a large crowd when you go but I will say the food was quite tasty. I had the fish fingers and they were seasoned quite well. Have been there a few times but recently ate there as well.

The four stars are mainly for my overall experience. I had a great time last night at BarOne. I had never visited before and wasn’t even sure if it was still open. My sister and I wanted to get out for a drink but wanted more of a lounge feel where we could hear some music. We ended up here and invited some other friends to join us later. It was raining so valet met us with umbrellas and escorted us to the door. We arrived around 8pm and for a Saturday it wasn’t crazy crowded(though I figured it would fill up quickly due to the small size.) Not much to look at from the outside but the décor was nice. The DJ was playn a mixture of old and new hip hop and R&B(later a little reggae.)Our waitress was Autumn and she was very attentive and helpful. Drinks and appetizers were good. We even got a visit from Peter. My party definetly enjoyed themselves so yes we would visit again.

Three friends and myself decided on a ladies night at the last minute on 4÷5÷2014. Food was great. I recommend the Brown Stew Chicken. Drinks are overpriced, however I’m not a huge drinker so that was ok with me. Ambience was chic and sexy. Venue was small however, it had that lounge feel that I miss from Chicago. Will be back!!!

I have come to barone several times and have never experienced the manager Earl who ended up charging us for something that we didn’t even eat. I ordered the wrong meal and was charged for it. Earl was very unprofessional and spoke to us as if we were friends and was very rude to us. We have been here several times and were excited to visit barone being that we moved out of Georgia. I love to support black establishments but Peter needs to hire a new manager because with Earl acting like a man off the street who isn’t the manager. I will only visit barone in the absence of Earl.

I had dinner with my husband here on the evening of Saturday 3÷15÷14. THEGOOD: The coconut shrimp appetizer is great. I wasn’t crazy about the sauce that accompanied it(looks like Zaxby’s sauce). It was a little to sweet for my taste, personally. The salt fish and plaintains meal didn’t look the way I expected. I thought it’d be a whole fish, but it was chopped up and still had some bones in it. Overall it was decent. My husband had the stew chicken and rice. It was great. THEBAD: This place is in the HOOD! Don’t act surprised. At first glance, the menu looks awfully small with not a whole lot to choose from. The entire menu is a one-sided page and half of that is drinks. But keep in mind this is technically a tapas barlounge, not a full-blown restaurant. The strawberry mint mojito was not good. Way too much stuff floating around made it difficult to sip through the tiny straw. Way too much liquor and no strawberry flavor at all. If you aren’t into spicy food, DONOT get the grilled jerk wings. It was a bit surprising how spicy they were. We entered the restaurant I guess pretty early so we didn’t experience this, but we witness later on that they do check ID at the door and men are required to pay a cover charge($ 10 on the night we went). THEAMBIANCE: We did not have a reservation. It seems like anyone without a reservation is sent to a long, lopsided hallway/corridor with tables that looks out at the street and valet parking area. It was a bit off-putting because you feel shut out from the rest of the restaurant. It’s like«You didn’t make a reservation, so you have to sit in the corner.» Also, in the area we were in, because it’s off to the side, you can’t hear the music too well. I’ll go again, but next time I’ll make a reservation so I can actually, you know, SEETHERESTAURANT and have a better chance of having a good time. Oh, we did see Peter. He slyly walked in with two other women in tow lol.

Had such an amazing time. My kind of crowd. The DJ is an asset to the place. The menu makes your mouth water as well as the actual food. Get the jerk baked wings, they are delectable! Perfect drinks and the atmosphere is insane. Will definitely add to my hotspots.

Best value for the money, nice ambience is a plus. Nice food and great service, what you can expect more than this from a restaurant. Overall highly recommended.

A couple of friends and I decided to hang out and grab a bite at Atlantic Station but it was too congested. The minimum wait for a table at any of the restaurants was an hour to an hour and a half. That’s standard on any given weekend there. We were hungry and didn’t feel to wait. So we jump to I85 to I20 East and headed to Bar One. Oooohhh Emmm Geee! We were greeted by the valet attendant, walked right in to our seats and was served within 15 mins. The crowd was intimate and refined. The Caribbean inspired food at Bar One was amazing! The brown stew chicken with rice and peas was on point and that bread pudding meant everything to me!!! Not to mention that Cynthia and Peter can walk in at any given moment. I highly recommend this spot to residents and visitors alike.

When driving up to the establishment there was a party bus in the drive way that kinda blocked us from getting valet parking. Once at the front door Cynthia and Peter walked by. Didn’t really notice peter with the blue hoodie on his head. We came here for a bday celebration my friend just move here recently and we decided to come for drinks and apps before dinner. Once entered the space is small but well decorated atmosphere. We were seated in a table by the bar area. Our party looked over the menu and notice that there was a special menu that was on the wall by the bar area. While the hostess told us that that was the specials for the evening another employee told us it wasn’t. Let’s get it together people which is it those are the specials or not. We kept getting mixed information about specials. food: we finally ordered our small plates after taking a little while to decide. We were told that there were a few items that were not available on the menu. There was a soup and the salmon not available something we were really thinking about ordering. When asked about something else as another choice that again was not available. We wound up ordering some sweet plantains, beef and chicken patties, crab and shrimp dumplings and fish cakes. Everything was great cooked to perfection. Remember folks this is a tapas type lounge so you will not get large amounts of food. I will try to return to see if it was just a fluke this particular evening for them to run out of everything.

My first time here and I am VERY picky!!! We sat at the bar(me and my sorority sister) and the bar attendant was outstanding! His service was impeccable. He was funny, very knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. I had a chicken patty, coconut and curry shrimp and crab and it was sooooooooooooooo good! I wanted to order another round but I decided against it. I was very impressed with my food and highly encourage you all to try it and see for yourself. Thumbs up for this visit guys! :-)

Went to Bar One recently. Pro’s: Free Valet parking, decent drinks, decent food. Everything was flavorful. I had the Salmon and the curry wings. I should have asked for the wings a little more well done, but i’ll take the L for that. They were pretty good considering. The salmon was prepared well. The rice was just ok. Cons: It was a Friday so it was crowded. This place is too small to be crowded. There was a 40 minute wait to sit and eat. So I will say if you want to go here on a weekend for dinner make reservations early. The whole lounge area was reserved apparently, though there were a couch full of empty seats and it was practically empty in there, patrons waiting to be seated for dinner had to stand and wait. No seated waiting area which I was a little unhappy with standing that long in tall heels. So we stood by the crowded bar with our drinks for 40 minutes trying not to feel awkward and waited. They need to kick up the AC. It was hot in there so I had to move around back towards the entrance to get some air. Luckily by then we were being seated. As already described there is a seating area around the side of the bar that faces the front with windows and a couch with pillows. It was comfortable. The waitress seemed to be trying to stifle a bit of an attitude. But I could tell she was trying. Perhaps she was tired or frustrated about something. But I give her credit for trying to do her job correctly. Also, they already get a high percentage of gratuity so make sure you read your receipt before adding an additional tip. Overall, its a decent place and I will probably go back either on a reserved table or when its less crowded. I’m hoping one day this place can be either expanded or moved to a bigger space in a better location. So the best of luck to the owners I hope their business progresses.

Despite some of the poor reviews that we saw on Google Review, my girls and I decided to give the place a try. Last Friday was our first time going and we are anxious to go back. The establishment is in an «up and coming area», but not all the way there yet part of Grant Park so as others have stated, if you don’t use the valet service just be mindful of where you park, just to be on the safe side. The interior of Bar One is decorated with great taste from the entrance to the bathrooms. I loved the atmosphere of the place; grown, sexy, and laid back. Service was slow, however, our waitress Karana was very pleasant and attentive to our needs. Kudos to her! When the food finally made it to our table all the talking that we had been doing ceased and we proceeded to eat. Our table consisted of Rice and Peas, Sweet Plantains, Oxtail Soup, Shrimp Fritters, and Sweet Potato Waffles with Pecan Crusted Chicken Fingers. All I can say is that Chef Wong must have been in a GREAT place that day because the food was«Delish»(Rachael Ray’s Voice). We were beyond satisfied. If you are looking for a place to enjoy good food, great music, and beautiful people then Bar One is definitely the spot. At least try it out once for yourself. I’ll be back to celebrate my birthday weekend.

I am not giving any place that serves FREE(yes free) martinis to ladies on a Sat evening and where happy hour(until 7pm) is every day fewer than 4 stars. But that is not the only reason I thought this place was good(btw the free martini was not the best one I’ve ever had, but hey, it beats them in different ways). We ended up here by accident; running late for a house party, Ziba’s near by being closed for a private event(on a SAT???, anyway), us needing food ASAP, we parked in front of the first conveniently located restaurant. Plus, we like tapas. It’s a nice small lounge, with contemporary design, and a small area with high tables for dinner(although you can eat at the bar too). I don’t know why anybody would say that there are ugly people there… Everybody including the staff looked fine and in fact we(my man and I) looked like obnoxious tourists with our flip flops and casual/hippie attire. Anyway, nevertheless nobody made us feel uncomfortable although we were seriously under-dressed. We ordered the chef’s platter(fish fingers, jerk chicken quesadilla, and fritters, with a couple of sauces). It was very good and this comes from someone who is not a big fun of fried stuff. We also had the crab and shrimp with dumplings curry and it was SO yummy. There were plenty of other choices in the menu we would love to try, so we’re definitely coming back. The server told us that later in the evening this becomes more of a lounge/bar, and some people also dance. (Had no idea that this place was famous due to RH of Atl — who cares about that show?)
