This place is the best. I dream about the eclairs! The sandwiches are also amazing. They have the best vegan cookies I’ve ever tasted as well. Favorite place to eat with the spouse. Hope we do not get fat.

In Asheville for a girls weekend. We decided to stop here for a breakfast bite. Everyone enjoyed their selections from the quiche, to the stratas, to the French toast casserole and bacon, egg, and cheese crossaint. Nonetheless you cannot take a trip here without trying some of the sweets. Everything at the counter looks absolutely amazing. The service was great and I would certainly return.

Quiet little café, great for brunch. Delicious coffee and dessert! I had the quiche for lunch. It was a nice snack, but I’d definitely order a side too if you’re looking for something more filling. For dessert I had an éclair – it was to die for! All of the desserts looked so good, I had to order a few things to go. The peanut butter cake was one of my favorites! If you’re a peanut butter lover, do not leave without trying a slice. They have free cookie samples – I tried the vegan chocolate chip, chocolate walnut, and chocolate orange. I am definitely coming back the next time I’m in Asheville.

Can you believe it?! Well-Bred Bakery is coming up on its second-year anniversary in Biltmore Village(it’s been in Weaverville about 14 years). The owners have done a wonderful job with the space. It’s very inviting, with a surprising amount of indoor and outdoor seating. In the main area where you order, sandwiches and savories are in one glass counter, and sweets and pastries are in another. We just got an éclair, but everything looks delicious.

I have a weakness for bakeries so it was a done deal when my friend asked me if I wanted to check local fave Well-Bred out after some craft gallery browsing in the area. Yes, of course I did! It took me several moments to decide what I wanted from all the delightful options: massive cookies, cake slices, peanut butter pies, pots de crème, eclairs, and the list goes on. Patient and smiling staffers were on hand for whenever a customer made up her/his mind. I was a bit dejected to see no regular chocolate chip cookie(only one with nuts or a vegan version was available), but I finally went with the Swedish Crème($ 3.50) which sounded quite exotic and was highly recommend by my friend. I’d describe it as a cross between Jell-O, cream, and custard, with raspberry coulis on top. There was a sprig of rosemary which I ate but wouldn’t recommend. Perfect light dessert! And on a brilliant sunny afternoon, it couldn’t get any better than sitting outside on the patio and spooning this Scandinavian treat into my mouth.

When Traveling through the Asheville area we were looking for a local place to eat lunch. We needed a place with some healthy options, but also a place our 2 kids would enjoy. We absolutely loved our meal! There was something for everyone in our family and we all enjoyed what we ordered. We were also able to take some yummy treats with us for an afternoon snack! The service was very friendly(and patient… our kids had a tough time deciding what they wanted to order!) The restaurant was very clean and inviting! We will definitely return on our next trip through the area!

Can I just say WOW?! Well-Bred Bakery & Café took over the once Chelsea’s Tea Room at the Biltmore Village. I was kind of despondent walking into Well-Bred because I loved having tea at Chelsea’s so much. However, I’m so glad that I chose to visit. This place is incredible. From their mountainous eclairs to their ginormous cookies, you can’t go wrong. Their prices are terrible either. It was difficult to decide on anything, but we split their ginger molasses cookie and a chocolate dipped biscotti; both, of which, rocked my world. We all shared with a cup of their freshly brewed coffee and it was the perfect mid-afternoon snack. The décor of the place is as lovely as their food artistry. With a warm, cozy café feel it makes it the perfect spot to share an afternoon with friends or read a book. We’ll definitely be back to Well-Bred Bakery & Café next time we’re in town. Thank you for treating me to a delicious treat on my birthday. :)

My family and I were in search of a sweet snack on the eve of New Year’s and this bakery did not disappoint. We ordered the tiramisu, pecan pie and pecan praline XL cookie. Everything was delicious. The bakery itself is in an adorable area and if you visit during the holidays the village is lit up with holiday lights. Definitely stop in if you visit or are in Asheville, NC’s historic Biltmore Village.

Morning, New Year’s Day — They were open, awake, and friendly. Had breakfast sandwiches — good, solid, tasty, and well prepared. Croissant was fresh and flaky. Had the petit éclair, really rich chocolate with a creamy filling. Really good and worth eating at. Enjoy!

I made a special trip to this location so that I could have a vegan treat along with my non-vegan dining companions. To my dismay, I was told that they were out of the vegan cookies and did not make the vegan chocolate cake. So my hungry tummy and I had to sadly watch the others devour their delicious treats while I sat by in longing. I was SO disappointed. However, the place was really cute inside and the prices were good, but I cannot vouch for their food because I didn’t get to have any. :(

My sisters and I stopped in here for a quick afternoon bite. I got the Italian sandwich and potato salad side for $ 9. Not a bad deal and they heated up the sandwich for me as well. I definitely appreciated the homemade ingredients for both of these items. I was a little confused as to why a half of a sandwich with a side was only $ 2 cheaper. My other sister got a few gluten-free cookies, which I was pretty impressed with, given that I am not gluten-free myself. This place seems to be pretty health-friendly, and they definitely have some great options for those who are on restricting diets. I would definitely come back again to try a quiche or a different dessert. I would only perhaps complain that you cannot just order a sandwich on its own, which is really all I needed. Maybe make the side a +$ 2 option? Great café nevertheless.

Not crowded, polite employees. I had to tell my husband that there is no such thing as a raspberry muffin… to me, you have to call them raspberry jam muffins. Or preserves, if you will. Pretty good. I had to get a good bite of the muffin with a good portion of the red stuff to distinguish the berry. You can taste it, and it is good. I could also taste butter. The muffin had a streusel top with a hint of cinnamon. You have to like that stuff in order to like the muffin. The chocolate cake with chocolate frosting is really good, too. They have waxed bags, which is a nice touch. This is the thing… how can all these pieces of chocolate cake eaten in the last six months minus«King Daddy’s» chocolate cake taste exactly the same? My husband said something about basic recipes, but scientifically this does not make sense. I have started to wonder if some bakeries are using industrial ingredients that come premade. I can’t completely say why I only gave this bakery three stars. It was good, I just wasn’t wowed. Maybe it was the strange pairing of cinnamon and raspberry, even though I made it through. The rating is not based on my aforementioned curiosity of bakery sources. I am not a fan of the name. «Well-Bred» does not remind me of pastries. I think of dogs wearing tweed after vulpescide. This does not affect my rating here, but it does within my psyche. You see, I am not well-bred. Just well-fed.

I can’t speak to the actual baked goods, as we just eaten across the street and were absolutely stuffed, but the drinks was good. Nothing spectacular on the drinks front though, which is why it only gets four stars. The place was extremely clean and the service was quick and everyone was very pleasant. I also appreciated the small, but thoughtful, details around the place. For example, they didn’t have a lot of room in the front for people who were ordering coffee to go, but had found a small bench that they could put there for us to sit at while waiting. The bathrooms are also well kept and nicely decorated with chairs right outside in case you had to wait. All in all, great atmosphere, good coffee, and what looked to be incredible pastries.

Love this place for some great eats to start off your morning exploring the Biltmore village… We stopped here here for a quick bite before exploring and many was it spot on. All the items are fresh made scratch and the love that is put into making them truly comes through in the flavor… Some of the offerings we tasted were the sausage strata, potato parsnip soup, and the caprase sandwich. «WoW» everything tasted amazing and our bellies were full and happy for the adventurous day ahead… I defiantly recommend trying out this special bakery right in the heart of the Biltmore village…

Cozy little bakery near the Biltmore. There was already a line outside the door when we arrived and it still had 5 minutes before they opened! Service was fast and friendly and they even had little samples of some of their delicious looking cookies. I only ordered a coffee to go but wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy it a bit more.

If you are in the quaint, historic Biltmore Village during your next visit to Asheville, North Carolina, you really have to stop in to the Well-Bred Bakery & Café for a cup of coffee and one of their many varieties of baked goods. We went back several times during our visit to the area because the Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies and the Mountain Éclair were incredible. When I say that, it is an understatement, because I cannot even describe how amazing those two items are. Everything at the bakery looks delicious, but the Vegan chocolate chip cookie and the Mountain Éclair are beyond delicious. The Mountain Éclair is HUGE, and being in the Asheville area, where you are in the vicinity of it’s beautiful mountains, having a large éclair like that is a great and unexpected treat. Let’s just say that it makes all other eclairs look like tiny mole hills! ha ha! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and they even took the time to explain some of the ingredients to us for the items we selected. The bakery itself has other items like bagels, quiche, coffee, refrigerated sodas and water, and you can enjoy everything either out on the patio with covered umbrella seating or you can dine inside within their historic roomed building. I recommend ordering a few extra cookies to go. They are huge, but if you are only in the area for a specific amount of time, you will want a few of their baked goods for later. They are that good.

Oh my deliciousness!!! Hello and head right out to this fab find! We had a delicious lunch! Mine included curry chicken salad, a delish quinoa tabouli, and THE best kale salad I’ve ever had. People, skip the chains that are creeping into our beloved Asheville and plop yourself down at Well Bred, and be well fed! The cheery staff is funny, informative and swell! So kind… and no judgement when I loaded in three different desserts/treats!

The super-fancy, gentrified sister of Well-Bred Weaverville… Honestly, I’ve never been to such a fancy coffee shop before. It’s a little off-putting! Well-Bred Biltmore is spotlessly clean. You could perform minor surgeries on their counter tops without worry about contamination. I don’t think this place has ever seen a single germ. They have good, fast, free wifi, and no password! Plenty of room to sit. Parking is tough. Give yourself an extra 10 minutes or so to find a spot. Coffee: Didn’t try. It costs about a dollar more than coffee anywhere else in town, so screw that. Ambience: ridiculous. So overwrought and precious, you have to see it to believe it. No wonder the coffee is so expensive. Clientele: Mostly tourists with tons of money to burn and a strong desire for $ 6-dollar eclairs. Lots of botox, tennis visors, and Lilly Pulitzer. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – Coffee-Wifi-Parking trifecta score: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – 1) Coffee fails – way too expensive. 2) Wifi passes – best in town! 3) Parking fails – no reasonable parking within 2 blocks in any direction.
