This seems to be a problem that is becoming reoccurring. I received a LivingSocial coupon good for one massage. I schedule said massage two months prior to the coupon’s expiration to only have the appointment get cancelled two days before the scheduled date. After receiving the cancellation email, I called within one hour multiple times to only have no one pick up the phone. Two days later I called multiple times again and left a voicemail with my contact information and the issue in hopes that I could squeeze in an appointment prior to the expiration date or at least get it honored for a few weeks more seeing they appeared to be booked for the next month. There has since been no attempts to reach back to explain why the original appointment was cancelled or what to do next. I will now have to result in trying to get money back or a credit from LivingSocial. I could understand no response had I booked the appointment within two weeks of the expiration, but when a company offers a deal to(maybe) boost their business, it is not going to help when you can’t even see what it’s about. I will forewarn anyone who mentions this place for a massage and would maybe not even take anything for free… who knows, they might just cancel again.

Bought a coupon on Amazon Local for a couples massage for my wife’s birthday. I felt we were dishonestly dealt with as the business would not pick up the phone and would not call back after repeated attempts. Got the distinct impression the business was playing games with us trying to delay until the coupon expired. The people there first told me that as long as the massage was scheduled before the coupon expired, it would be honored. A couple weeks before the coupon expired, we left three voice messages that were unanswered. I finally went in person and no one was at the service desk. I waited for 10 – 15 minutes, still no one. I finally wrote a note and left it with my contact info. They finally responded and at that point changed their story and would not honor the coupon because they had no openings before the expiration date. I understand expiration dates and tried to plan accordingly. However I was verbally misled and we were unaware that we would need months of lead time to schedule. Luckily Amazon has great customer service and was able to refund our money since the business was not responsive.

The first time I tried this spa was with a living social deal, then tried it a 2nd time with a prepaid deal directly from the spa. The location was easy to find, inside the«Studio». Free parking. The building is modern with a bit of industrial. My first hour massage was excellent. The therapist(Todd) really worked my problem areas with very firm pressure. The rooms do not have enclosed ceilings so you can hear every single thing that is going on in the building. The massage itself was good so I purchased another one that day. Fast forward to a month later and it was a completely different experience. Maybe it was because I was the first client of the day, but the massage therapist had little energy and it barely felt like he was applying any pressure. Normally I am comfortable with communicating with the therapist and telling them what I want, but there was construction going on right next door the entire time I was there, this ruined the experience for me. I am an understanding person and understand that construction goes on, but considering I was going in for a massage; the ambience should be relaxing and quiet. I would have appreciated a heads up so I could have made an appointment after the construction was scheduled to be completed. They are putting in a new restaurant and I have no idea how long this construction will take, but I highly recommend meeting with the owners of this new restaurant so you can give your massage or pilates clients an estimate of when construction will be done or if they are okay with the hammers, banging, or loud talking. But at least give clients the information to make an informed decision.

The first time I got a massage from Amie, it was a gift from my husband and she came to my home. When she asked about any special issues, I explained a joint problem most healthcare providers have not heard of, and she knew right away what I was talking about. She had recommendations to adjust the massage style to meet my needs. I’ve had many more massages since then from Amie, both in her Ashburn location and back in my home. She is always dependable, professional, and does a great job listening to my preferences. My experience has been on par with any massage I’ve received at high-end spas and resorts. One difference I like is that the Refined Touch space allows plenty of room for the therapist to move around without feeling like you are in a tiny closet. My husband also gets regular deep tissue massages here, and it’s done wonders for his back and neck. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a masseuse who will customize the massage to your needs.

I found A Refined Touch via a Groupon for a custom massage for 60 minutes and figured why not?! I was stressed and tense and needed to get the kinks worked out. I called at 3:30 and they were able to get me in at 4:30! Score! Im confused as to how people are so put off by their location, it states on the groupon where their address is and that its inside The Studio. How is that hard to understand?! It also states on their website its inside The Studio. Why is that so difficult, there is a big sign that reads«The Studio» its not hard to find or understand. On the door of The Studio there is a flyer with their information. Nothing about this is confusing or difficult. I got a deep tissue massage from Eddie and it was awesome! He asked if I wanted the bed heated before we started and it was nice and toasty when I got in. I told him that I wanted him to concentrate on my upper body(neck, shoulders, back) and focused on that area the entire time. He was able to maintain pressure throughout the whole massage and really got into my knots and tense areas. Ive gotten deep tissue massages in the past where the masseuse starts off strong and then peters out which is disappointing. He also went for the full hour and didnt try to cut it short as so many do. I paid for an hour massage and actually got a hour long massage. I highly recommend him!

I was the worst massage experience by far The rooms are so cold, the bed is cold, there is no darkness in the room, they use a cheap cold body butter on your body and two women next door are talking with non stop. I could hear all their life. the experience literally gave me a headache and I had to cut the massage short. I just told the therapist to stop and I left as soon as I could. that experience ruined all my day and instead of relaxing, I had an all day headache. Don’t wast your time and money going there!

I purchased a groupon and decided to give them a chance. I’m glad I did. Amie is a fantastic masseuse. She’s very understanding and listens very well. She’s very professional and asks which areas of the body you want her to work on. Then as she’s giving you the massage and applies pressure she asks if the pressure is alright, or if it’s too much she adjusts accordingly. She assesses the situation and if you feel like talking, she’s a great conversationalist otherwise she just gives you a massage and let’s you relax in total quiet and peace. She works very hard to make sure you are having a great experience. I would highly recommend her to anyone. No wonder she has a 1 ½ month wait, yes, she’s that good!!! As far as her location, the ceilings are exposed like the others have said and it’s weird knowing you can hear the people in the other room, but if you can overlook that, then Amie is a wonderful masseuse. After the massage she brings you water when you are finished and asks if you need anything else. I will definitely go back.

I just had a massage with Eddie and it was not the best. He felt very awkward and gave off the impression he was bored. He massaged one hand, but not the other and didn’t hit a single pressure point in my feet. The location is not geared toward relaxation at all. The rooms are more like stalls where you can hear exactly what is going on in every other room and the doors slam loudly. The rooms all have flimsy, cheap curtains over the windows that do very little to block out the light. Between this and the complete lack of any decoration the place feels extremely clinical. Even with a Groupon this was not worth the money.

I had an appointment with Eddie. I bought a Groupon for a deep tissue massage. I was not impressed at all. He definitely needs to work on basic massage therapy. I have never had a massage that bad. I had told him about an injury I had a few days ago on my ankle and he ended up forgetting once the massage started and hurt me. Would not recommend Eddie to ANYONE! Additionally. they are sharing space with The Studio and it was very difficult to find.

Amie is a great massage therapist, listens to your needs and is flexible should you need to cancel or are running late. I have had quite a few massages here and not one was lacking in quality. Not sure why someone would give a 1 star on scheduling issues. The Groupon specials they offer from time to time make the price an excellent deal.

Amie is absolutely fantastic! Her schedule is booked way out — to those that are annoyed with this — it should be a sign of how excellent she is at what she does. I have been to Amie 4 times now and recently bought a package. I already have my next two appointments booked! I’m not one to forgo hundreds of dollars at once — but in this area a good massage therapist is hard to find. It is SO worth it. Yes, the studio is more«open» so your room is not totally enclosed(very high ceilings). I have never had an issue with this — as Amie let me know right away — and most of the other therapists and clients are very respectful and keep quiet. I like the openness of the space and it is very clean. That being said, ask yourself why you’re there. Are you here for fancy cucumber water and a robe? Anytime I have been offered both of these I’m wildly disappointed in my massage. Personally, I am paying for a good massage. I beat my body up daily and Amie always focuses on undoing all of my damage! She also works on your extremities — I haven’t found a therapist around here who actually does your hands and feet! I love it. Can’t wait for my next appointment!

I purchased a groupon to try this service out, so glad I did, Amie did the massage. The massage itself was *amazing*, easily one of the best I’ve gotten. She had a great technique for deep tissue massage, perfect combination of soothing and theraputic. I have to ding them on the location, though. Unfortunately the space isn’t completely enclosed — the walls are there, but the ceilings are open. As a result, sound travels so easily, that I was listening to the next client get situated in the room next door. I have a strong preference for a more serene experience. They do have an option to come to your home, so there is that. But I dont think I’d come back to this location, despite loving the actual massage.

Amie gives an amazing deep tissue massage, however her scheduling needs improvement. Amie cancelled 2 of my last 3 massages the day of the massage, with 1 of the cancellations a meer 2 hours before the massage. She was then not able to get me rescheduled anytime near my original massage dates/times. It has been more than 2 weeks since the last cancellation/our last contact and I still haven’t received a refund for the pre-paid massages nor are my emails being returned. DONOTRECOMMEND.

There are a lot of positive reviews on here prior to mine and I“m sure that probably has a lot to do with the therapist they had and/or if the therapist came to the client’s location. My negative experience pertains 95% to their new massage studio, which definitely needs improvement. I’m sure others will soon be turned off by it too as more clients come to their new shared studio in Ashburn. I purchased the Groupon for them because it was a great deal for a massage — $ 39 for 60 minutes compared to $ 80 – 90 regular price at most massage businesses. I was able to book an evening massage within 2 days of purchasing the Groupon, which was nice that I didn’t have a long wait. Granted, it wasn’t with the popular therapist, Amie, but this other therapist I had was decent and listened to my needs and requests both before and during the massage(i.e. focus areas, pressure). I was so disappointed in other aspects of the massage experience though, especially being that I wasn’t able to relax during it as a result. The first thing I noticed was that the room had a few windows in it that let a lot of sunlight in… I’d recommend thick curtains and/or shades to address this maybe. It was entirely too bright in the room due to the sunlight coming in. I was also able to hear cars outside when they drove fast or honked, so that was unpleasant. Maybe if the music was louder it could have drowned it out? The music was pretty soft and I didn’t care for the style much, but just my personal preference… didn’t seem relaxation inducing in my experience. Another significant issue I had was that the massage«rooms» are more like stalls. Reminded me of a fitting room experience because they are open at the top and bottom, so there are just thin walls separating you from other clients. Needless to say, I was able to hear the conversation of the the client and therapist next to me… and they talked(mostly the client) during the ENTIRE massage, which was so distracting! I was SO upset about that. I could also hear her laughing a lot. How am I supposed to relax when that is going on during my massage? There were also a ton of loud creaks throughout the whole massage, most so loud that they actually startled me while I was trying to relax. And the final issue was that there were two very bright overhead spotlights that actually came on during the final 10 – 15 minutes of my massage. Even with my eyes closed, I felt like I was in a room with bright overhead lighting above me… oh wait… I was! That was awful and I couldn’t believe it happened. Probably the worst part. I thought someone maybe accidentally flipped a light switch and that maybe it would turn off within a minute or so, but no, stayed on! That was definitely the last straw and completely ruined what was left of my massage experience. I was so miffed about all the unwanted«sights and sounds» during my massage that it just wasn’t worth it… even to pay just $ 39. I guess you get what you pay for. I highly recommendt that they either change the location yet AGAIN or make some much needed improvements on the new space. Honestly, I really can’t grasp why anyone would want to rent that space for a massage business with those issues. Oh, and every other massage therapist I’ve ever been to(I’ve been to several over the last 15 or so years) gives you a cup of water at the end and asks how everything was, how I feel, etc. Not this one, which was just another disappointment on the list.
