Sub-par BBQ. If you want good BBQ, go to Yazoo’s in Denver. None of the items that we ordered were very good. I don’t intend to go back.

Bennett you crazy SOB, why do you make such spectacular pulled pork! Your sliced Turkey also makes me want to find religion. Don’t forget the apple sauce…

Food not good! Dry bread, pork, chicken. Overpriced. Shared my meal with my grandchildren, was told I would be charged the price of two more meals for sharing. Really! There kids. Not impressed. This used to be a busy good bbq place, not any more. What a shame!

We are new to the area and were hopeful to find a new BBQ spot, but this is not the place. I ordered the cobb salad which I thought would be pretty harmless, but the chopped eggs were frozen. I’ve never experienced that in my life. They were completely inedible. My wife ordered the prime rib and it came out completely raw. The wait staff were nice and tried to remedy the situation but the food is completely sub par. I can make better food in my own kitchen. I would not recommend this place at all. If you can’t make a fresh hard boiled egg then who knows what else is frozen back in the kitchen. Not worth your time.

This place isn’t fancy, although it looks good after the remodel. The brisket and the spicy sausage were really good. The brisket had really good flavor and some decent bark. The prices really pretty decent for what you get.

They almost got 2 stars. However. I went to wash my hands after eating ribs and the cook walked out of the stall and went right into the kitchen. God I hope washes his hands in the kitchen. The food was good not great. The waitress was rude and impatient. I have been coming here since they opened in the 80s. Not every visit was good but not washing your hands after taking a crap is grounds to never be back. Before the place caught fire it was top notch. The food was a lot better and the service was also.

Yesterday a group of my retiree friends met at the Bennett’s Bar-B-Q, 7490 W. 52nd. Avenue in Arvada. I had reserved their banquet room for this occasion. I was a little nervous about how everything would go but was immediately assured by our waitress, Gidget, that she would take care of the group and tend to all their needs. That is exactly what she did. None of us ever had to wait for service. She was on top of her game which made the occasion very successful and joyful. All had a great time socializing and Bennett’s turned out to be the perfect venue for that. From making the reservation for the banquet room through the event itself, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend Bennett’s for other groups to meet. The food is excellent and service is all you could ever hope for. Hats off to Bennett’s and their staff, particularly, Gidget. Jim H.-Arvada

Brisket was OK, but the mashed potatoes tasted like they were from KFC. Gravy was cold and tasted like the Heinz jar gravy. Kids liked their ribs but the BBQ beans were a horrible paste(think tomato paste). The plate was hot but the food was unevenly heated so I suspect it was microwaved. The waitress was super friendly, but didn’t bother to ask how the food tasted.

I have been going to this restaurant since they originally opened and was very happy when they reopened. When it first re-opened the food and service was really good. My husband and I went in for a quick dinner on a late Friday evening. Because the prime rib was sold out my husband ordered the«RIBEYE». It was not a rib eye steak it was a lesser quality steak that was more fat than steak. I am not talking marbling I am talking hunks of fat.(The rib eye” was originally, as the name implies, the center best portion of the rib steak, without the bone) We made the comment that this was not a Rib eye and were told by the manager that we did not know what we were talking about. Beyond the«poor» quality meat our server got almost the entire order wrong. She was too busy«flitting» around the bar talking to the other servers and gentlemen sitting in the bar. Needless to say I am very disappointed and will not be going back as there are too many good restaurants in the area

Driven by Bennet’s several times & finally decided to stop in. Being from Louisiana & working in Texas, we had good hopes… those were dashed quickly! First impression, no hostess stand, big group party in front of us had no idea if they were waiting, leaving or just hanging out. Once seated, our waitress came over immediately & took our drink order. Sweet tea was Skunky! Too bad, was really looking forward to some good old fashioned Southern Sweet Tea. We ordered the Rib Tips for an app, which never came out… food arrived pretty quickly, however. Waitress really didn’t seem too concerned about it, but she did ask if we still wanted it… obviously not, it’s an «appetizer». She removed it from the bill. Would have been nice to have a Mgr visit & apology or perhaps give it to us anyway free of charge. On to the food; I ordered the 2 meat combo, with Pork & Sausage. The pork wasn’t bad, but wasn’t really anything special either. Portion was pretty small as well. The sausage, basically a ring of Hillshire Farms sliced & warmed up, not even that warm!(smh). A «Texas» restaurant with store bought sausage… C’mon Maaaan! Cole slaw your standard prepackaged stuff any number of restaurants order from Sysco, same goes for the Mac & Cheese. I know this, as we used to order the EXACT same stuff @ a restaurant I worked at years ago. Had to ask for refills for our Skunky Semi-sweet tea. Bathrooms are atrociously dirty! Final words… Bennet’s Texas BBQ… if this was actually open in Texas, it would be for very long. Won’t be back anytime soon.

First of all before this place caught fire it was great. I would give it no stars now if that was even possible. This place is absolutely horrible, I would not eat there if you paid me. First we order appetizers fried pickles they were closer to room temperature then anything. Then for dinner I ordered baby back ribs i ask the waitress if they were served with sauce or dry she said the were dry. perfect. Well when i receive my order they have bbq sauce on them so i ask her so they come with sauce and she said she could get me some out quickly i usually don’t even bother sending them back but like the fried pickles the ribs were also not very warm. I accept and the new ribs she brings out are also room temperature. Another problem was the two kids meals ordered both were luke warm, i mean usually when we go out to eat the kids food is to hot for them to eat right away. Any way I asked to speak to the manager because this was just not acceptable i bring up my concern about how the food was all not in the correct temperature to even keep the food safe and i’m wondering how long it had been under the proper temperature because we all know that if food is in the«DANGERZONE«for two long the bacteria can grow at such a rapid pace that you can not save it so then he decides to point out that there was no way it was in the danger zone for more then 4 hours, because he is food safety certified. I call BULL i have been food safety certified on multiple occasions. Also i went to the Colorado food safety website and here’s what i find: The Two-Hour Rule As mentioned before, if food is kept in the danger zone for too long, there will be too much bacteria, and no amount of cooking will be able to reverse the amount of spoilage caused by the bacteria. The food needs to be thrown out. Furthermore, it is important that managers or kitchen staff check the temperatures of soups, stews or other prepared foods a minimum of every two hours to make sure the food is above 140°F. If the food is too cool, adjust the temperature and check it again in a half-hour.
so since my food had been sitting for probably almost up to the four hours that he feels is safe i’m sure it should have been thrown out because it was most positively not re– heated to the correct temp. I hope that this idiot manager’s supervisor reads these reviews because he should be re– food safety certified, or fired since is customer service sucks. Hopefully no one else has this problem or gets sick from eating the food in this place.

Only three stars because the waitress was triple sat but still managed to be nice and attentive. The prime rib was over done and seemed like it had sat in the grill all night till I ordered it. We asked for the appetizer sampler and got wings. Not a big deal but wings not worth 10.00 dollars. The atmosphere was fun and great for a big part but don’t order the prime rib later on a Friday or you will be stuck with jerky like meat. The prime rib also goes early and they serve till they are out. They were out around 8:00pm.

To start, they advertise on the front of the menu that they have been serving CO for 29 years. Oddly enough, this CO gem doesn’t have 1 single CO craft beer. The most high end brew on tap is Sammy A’s Boston. Enough about the cookie cutter bar. The food was so-so. I got BBQ Brisket Mac and cheese. Side Cinn Apples, SD «signature» baked beans. The brisket on my Mac was a bit dry, Mac was cooked properly yet cheese sauce tasted«Kraft» like. Edible tho. The apples were a bit dinky. By that I mean not plump and tender. More like on the verge of dehydration. The beans although not bad, were not my style. Very sweet. I’m more of a savory fan when it comes to beans. So I won’t knock them for that as it was more of a preference thing. The server /bar maiden that waited on me was pleasant. Didn’t talk much. She did take off the beans without me having to say anything. She at least had the smarts to put an empty plate with a full bowl of beans. For a place I stumbled on while having my tires worked on at Big-O, I give it a 2. No better no worse than Applebee’s.

The food is quite tasty with good but not outragous portions. Table service is quite attentive. The bar leaves much to be desired. It has been remodeled since the fire nicely. My last two visits during happy hour, each bartender appeared to have little experience or comfort behind the bar. Their food special changes daily so I called there at 2:15 pm to inquire of the appetizer special for a small group I’m meeting. The person on the phone did not know and made clear she was unable or unwilling to ask anyone in the kitchen. Lamest happy hour in town.

Texas smexas. This Colorado brisket is as good as any you’d get in Texas, and the people are friendlier too!

I had never been to Bennett’s before and was surprised at the friendliness of the wait staff. Even the bartender checked to make sure that our drinks were to our liking. The food was served fast and tasty. Meats were smoked well and moist. My Texan girlfriend stated that it was pretty true Texas BBQ. Next time it’s the all you can eat for me.

When I drove by last month I was happy to see the repairs from the fire were finally completed and Bennett’s was back open for business. Not that I every really thought the BBQ there was that awesome, it was just sad to see the building in such bad shape for so long. I’m assuming there were some issues with the insurance for it to be shut down for the length of time it was, but I don’t really know why it took so long to re-open. I stopped by for lunch last week to see if their smoked meats had improved since the last time I was there. Sadly the brisket and pork were still both on the dry side, then again maybe that’s how they like it in Texas. They either way overcook the meat or are slicing it up and holding it under a heat lamp. I had the Po’ Boy, swapping out the sausage for pork(thanks to the recommendation of our great server). It came on a hoagie roll and with enough BBQ sauce it was pretty good. The beans are the watery(Texas style) kind that don’t have much of a taste alone, with some chunks of meat. Again the BBQ sauce really helped with the flavor. We also split some fried okra that was pretty damn good, even if it was probably from a bag in a freezer. Bennett’s is what it is, a decent spot for a quick bite. The service was above average, the prices aren’t too high, and it’s easy to get in and out of being where it’s located.

When Texas style BBQ is done right, it is really good. Very nice to have good BBQ in Colorado. The service was good, the wait was a bit long for lunch, but the food made up for it. I had chopped beef and fried okra. It was all very good. I will be going back again soon.
