FastMed Urgent Care

I have been here a number of times over the past couple years since this location opened. I generally had good experiences but the last time I was there the front desk staff acted mostly annoyed I was there interrupting whatever she was doing in the computer, and my PA seemed to be rushing through my assessment and not very interested in answering my pretty basic questions. Then today my wife came down with some fairly serious flu symptoms — 101.4 fever, serious body aches and chills, severe headache. Took her to this location at 3:40 PM. She went in to check in while I parked. By the time I parked she called my cell and said they would not see her today because they closed at 4 pm. I mean, the poor thing looked pathetic in her sweatpants and shirt, rumpled hair and obvious discomfort and they turned her away. And yes, we have insurance and have no issues paying. Bizarre. So I had to take her to Wakemed Apex emergency care.

This is a really, really bad deal. I didn’t go there with any «urgent» issue, so I’m not sure how effective they are in a crisis, but if they show the same level of incompetence in emergencies as they do for routine visits, I’d say we’re screwed.
Mistake 1. I signed up for their membership right off because I didn’t have insurance. I thought this would be a smart move. It cost me $ 100 for the visit and $ 35 for the membership.
Mistake 2. Going online and trying to reserve my appointment. This is a futile act. I reserved my appointment and I still waited two hours for somebody to see me. I got a whole bunch of apologies and all that, as well as a Chick fil A Gift Card, but in the end, they really wasted my time.
Mistake 3. I went back for a second visit. This was simply because I did not have a primary care doctor, which everyone should look into before even considering these clowns. By this time, I had full health coverage and did not need their membership. When I asked for a refund, seeing as though I only used them that one time, they turned me down. apparently if you use them for just one visit, that counts as a whole year’s worth of visits.
Mistake 4. Not having a primary care doctor of my own. Because these folks, though nice, can’t do much. It’s like they’re not real doctors. Neither time did they do anything of actual substance to fix my issues. On my second visit for breathing concerns, I was prescribed an inhaler after they failed at getting me chest x-​rays because the machine didn’t work. The machine didn’t work? I thought this was a place for giving «urgent care!»
You know how when you’re really hungry and you blow off a well-​respected restaurant and go to McDonald’s instead — and McDonald’s serves you garbage and won’t take it back? It’s a LOT like that.

I came here because I was told by others that they are fast and caring. I waited two hours in the waiting room to be seen when there was only one person in front of me. The receptionist was sweet. But I almost left. I finally got back there and realized there wasn’t even a real physician. It was just a PA. And she was by herself with one nurse. I waited another 25 minutes in the room which wasn’t bad but after waiting two hours I was in pain and just wanted to go home. The nurse was nice. But the PA wasn’t too concerned with my pain and it kind of made me feel like she didn’t want to help me at all. Next time I’ll take my chances and go to the ER and wait with real results.

We live in Cary and drove to this location because we had an awesome experience prior with my husband.
I severely sprained my ankle and my husband wanted to get X-​rays, just in case. The staff was amazing! Kind and considerate. Took awesome care of me and had the results within a few minutes. My family loves this facility, the nurses and doctors are much more empathic than the one near Davis.

This place is the worst. I would not recommend anyone with a different skin color than the people who work in there to go. The doctors are the worst. They don’t listen to the patients. Will never go again. I only gave a 1 star because the app makes you.

I went to FastMed Urgent Care on a Sunday morning to try to get some pain relief for pain and soreness in my neck and shoulder area. The paperwork process was acceptable considering it was my first visit. The staff was friendly and I was in to see the P.A. within an hour. After explaining my symptoms and the events that lead me to make the trip over we began to consider options for addressing the pain issue. I went there hoping to be offered a cortisone injection believing that this would provide much needed relief from what I described as a 8 on a scale of 1 – 10. I was informed that they no longer performed that in the clinic. We then began conversing about other options for pain management. I was offered Ibuprofen 800 mg and Cyclobenzapr 10MG for muscle spasm. I had my doubts about the effectiveness of this approach was but was assured that this would offer me relief until such time as I could get into see a specialist. My suffering would continue unabated. I have nothing against the use of P.A. employees in this retail medical environment but would have liked to have had access to a more experienced doctor especially where pain management is involved. I truly feel that my office copay and the few dollars I spent at the pharmacy not to mention my time we wasted in this pursuit. I feel sure that there is a place in today’s ever changing medical landscape for Urgent Care Facilities but consumers in this day and age will no longer accept poor results for hard earned money. I hope my experience will be helpful both to FastMed Urgent Care and to those seeking help in their possibly greatest time of need.

Walked in on a Saturday morning with our sick toddler. The front office staff was cordial and welcoming. We filled out our paperwork and 30 – 45 minutes later we were brought back. The nursing assistant was attentive and did a great job of calming our toddler and taking her vitals.
The PA came in fully briefed on the information that we provided and spent as long as we needed to discuss treatment options after she completed her exam.
I’ll come back if it’s ever after office hours at our PC provider.
The only thing I’d ask for them to work on is getting some more toddler friendly diagnostic tools I.e. Pulse OX monitors.

Went here to check up on a swollen lymph node and I did not get to see a doctor, only a PA. She told me it wasn’t a node but a muscle spasm, then proceeded to give me a sheet about swollen lymph nodes… if it really isn’t a node then why did I need that?
The place was clean and I had absolutely no wait going in on Monday morning.

Don’t bother if you want to be seen in a timely manner. I realize it’s urgent care but they allow you to set apts online so that should mean something… but it doesn’t. Waited for over an hour. Didn’t even see the doctor.

Very friendly & attentive staff. I was so pleased. I made an appointment online, was seen on time and was given great care.
