I’ve been to Union Jack’s on several occasions and have found them to be average in many ways. But sometimes you find that one dish that keeps you coming back and for me it is the Fish and Chips. So I recommended we go there recently to watch a Copa America match with friends. Please realize that it is really nothing like a British pub and if you hit their website they even tell you that. They say it is a newer British hybrid. It is a very big place inside. It is a very good sports bar with plenty of screens of all sizes including a huge screen that drops down in front of their large stage. Because we were there to watch the game we were seated at a small tall table at the left side bar. Even though it was a Saturday night it was early and not busy at all. Started with a round of water’s and drinks. No issues. Ordered the lump crab bites and nachos for appetizers. First, I really don’t expect much in the way of nachos from an American or British style restaurants but my friends like nachos. So, they are a poor version of American nachos. Got them with chicken and there was not near enough to go with all the chips and cheese. We asked if we could have the sour cream separate and our waitress told us the condiments come separate. Well, our definition of separate and hers were very different. The sour cream, guac and pico de gallo all came in one fried(larger) chip container. Was surprised at the small ratio of condiments to chips and cheese, not near enough to go on half the chips provided. What I didn’t like was that after eating them for a while some of the cheese left on the tray had the look of curdled milk. I have no idea why. Sadly, the nachos met my expectations. The lump crab bites were a nice size but I found no lump crab meat in the ones I had. It was almost all breading and it tasted more like the frozen fish sticks I remember as a kid as opposed to crab meat. It had a nice presentation but was lacking in taste. The siracha didn’t cover for the lack of flavor for me. Other issues for the appetizer round was once delivered we didn’t have all the set ups. Our waitress was not in the area at the time so we helped ourselves to some from an empty table. Then when she came back we had to ask for plates. Not a sign of good training for servers. Also, once we ordered dinner, the waitress left the large menus on the small table so we were eating with menus hanging off of the table. We had to ask to have her take them from the table. Dinner arrived and I had my Fish and Chips. Two large pieces of nicely fried fish with plenty of large cut chips. The thing that really makes this dish outstanding to me is actually the Fuji apple slaw. Fried fish does not have a lot of flavor. The taste differences to me are pretty subtle from place to place. But the Fuji slaw here adds a brilliant contrast to the fish that brings me back every time. I even ask them to forget about the remoulade which I don’t use and provide me with an extra slaw which they are happy to provide. Only thing is that it didn’t taste quite the same as I remembered it upon first bite. Then I realized why, there was only two slivers of apple in the first container. And only one sliver in the second. Nooooo! Still good fish and chips but not as great as usual. Could be it wasn’t mixed well so I was shorted. Could be they don’t use as much apple. Guess I will have to figure that out next time I am there. My friends enjoyed their rustic chicken sandwich, and a fried food special for the game. Speaking of which, if we are there for the game why didn’t we receive the food and drink game specials when we arrived??? They came out after we ordered our appetizers. Lastly, my wife had a salad. She is dairy and gluten free. They did a nice job leaving the cheese and onions off the salad as requested. But she never did receive the non-dairy salad dressing she ordered. Sadly, it is not the first time she ate her salad dry. I would have tracked down the waitress for it but she asked me not to. So, overall this trip many misses, some expected, some not. But I haven’t given up on my favorite Fish and Chips.

I hosted my husband’s surprise 40th birthday party here and we were very happy with the experience. Food was great and the staff was very accommodating with setting the space up perfectly and helping to plan the menu for a large group. I never caught our server’s name, but she was great going out of her way to make sure things went smoothly — even offering to run across the street to find us candles for the cake. I would highly recommend holding an event here.

The Union Jack has become my go to place to watch NFL on Sundays — permanently replacing Buffalo Wild Wings. The food is exponentially better, there is a better beer selection and I prefer the Union Jack atmosphere. A lot of hearty fare — but the fish and chips is a can’t miss choice. Shepherds pie is a solid #2 pick And unlike wild wings. — all items on the menu do not taste the same

Food was pretty good once it finally came out, but everything was slow. After being seated we waited 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order and I finally had to go hunt someone down. After that our appetizer came in a reasonable amount of time but I again had to flag our waitress down for another beer. After about 45 minutes our food came and it was pretty good. We finished and waited another 15 minutes for our check then another 10 for the waitress to pick it back up. The server was very nice and this was our only time here, but I am glade we weren’t in a hurry.

I’ve been here a few times and this restaurant can be hit-or-miss. Before we enter the building, this parking lot is very atrocious and it’s almost always full. I just don’t understand why we aren’t allowed to park on other spots, which are intended for customers to other stores when there are a lot of vacant spots over there. It’s bloody stupid. Anyway, as for this indoor restaurant, their interior design is very elegant and dark. Personally, a lot of people especially deaf individuals will complain about how dark it is, but I think it’s very easygoing on my vision. Speaking of the miss part, their waitresses may be very friendly, but their timing service SUCKS donkey bollocks. They took forever with greeting, taking orders, delivering food, checking, etc. It’s a good thing my friends were buffer; otherwise, I would hunt my waitress down and demand a check from her immediately. Their food are mediocre at best just like buffalo wings I received last Wednesday. It was little dry. Nothing special about them. Blah.

Bottom Line: A lot bigger than it looks and more lively than I expected! There is a lot going on at Union Jack’s! For starters, the inside is way bigger than it looks from the outside. One indicator of this is the crowds of people parking across the street and at the adjacent Annapolis Towne Centre and then walking over. There is a dining room, a private party room, billiards, two bars and a stage. This is a very popular place on the weekends and if there is live music, expect dancing too. Along those lines, expect a cover charge. I haven’t been to England but this establishment felt more like a bar to me than how I imagine a British Pub. They did have some good bottled and draft English beers so that was nice. And of course there is fish and chips on the menu. The crowd is mixed but definitely expect an older crowd here like 40s and 50s. By now mean is that«old» I just mean you won’t find a plethora of 20 something’s here looking to break in there new legal IDs.

As a Brit this pub has a zero British feel. I had a Groupon for brunch and now I’m so glad that I didn’t have to pay full price. We had come straight from church and I asked for a cup of tea, and had a complete Maggie Smith moment when the water arrived tepid. Honestly, you cannot be a British pub and think tea will brew in lukewarm water(see the Second Best Marigold Hotel for further instruction. The buffet was in a dark and dingy corner where you were hard press to see the food. Now this is where the Union Jack gets two stars … The food was quite good(what there was of it) … The fried potatoes were good and hot and the pancakes were good, the syrup was a mystery as it was in a jug and you just had to guess what it was. Now in this world of allergies the shrimp(which were good), right next door to the beef(which was also very good), is a food code waiting to be broken. If you are projecting to be a British pub, good British pub food would have Yorkshire pudding aside the beef, with roast potatoes and a veg — there was no veg at this brunch buffet. There is promise here because the food served was goodish, but a British pub it is not.

We were out and decided to check this out. They had a 80s cover band playing that was pretty good. Place was pretty busy but we got our drinks fast. There’s 4 pool tables and dart boards. Pretty nice spot. A lot of room and there’s another bar/deck out back.

Me and my wife love the wings and London Bridge pizza from here. A recent disability makes it hard to go out for us so I order«to go». I can tell you that the last four orders in a row items were missing — salads missing the chicken and salmon, missing ranch and bleu cheese for the wings, limp and inedible celery, plus others that I can’t think of at the moment. The missing items are frustrating and because you pick them up from a busy bar, it’s tough to find a place to open the order up and check to be sure — plus it’s their job to make the order right, it’s called quality control. Anyway, the last trip is probably my last since they forgot the chicken and salmon(nearly $ 12) and I had to drive all the way back. I picked up the missing item and got a brush off«sorry man». Sadly, I guess if we want to have the food we like, we’ll have to go and eat there.

I had the bangers and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were lumpy and just how i like them! Sausage was really good. The steak was cooked just right. The appetizer could have been a little more flavorful. It was a chicken egg roll basically.

This is an awesome place to go with family and friends. The atmosphere is terrific and the food is even better. The fish and chips platter could feed a village, the crab dip with pretzels(worth the up charge instead of pita) is an awesome starter, and the BBQ chicken pizza is out of this world. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the service is sometimes very slow, but all of the workers are super sweet.

I’m a Realtor and I had my customer appreciation party at Union Jack’s. Management did an outstanding job getting me set up and the staff was amazing. They were super friendly and accommodating! The food was excellent as well! I highly recommend, even for just a normal day of having lunch/dinner/hanging out. Lot’s of space and TV’s too!

Came in for lunch today. The place was almost empty. There was a sign at the door saying seat yourself. My husband and I sat at a pub table next to the bar within view of two bar staff. We waited 10 minutes while staff greeted customers after us and got them drinks and in one case an order. No one at all greeted us or came to take our order. We may as well have been invisible to the staff. We walked out after 15minutes. No one noticed. When I worked in Columbia I frequented that location and we ordered almost daily from them, never had this sort of issue. Great customer service there, no sure what the heck is going on at this location.

The bartenders and general service was very good, really nice people! Very responsive and just really nice. The food however was not, for a British styled bar/restaurant it was a minimal selection of British dishes, I had the Cottage Pie, which left a lot to be desired, greasy, tasteless and had the cheese layered under the potatoes making it as greasy as sin itself. This place needs some quality British dishes like Wellington etc… I’m now glad I didn’t get the bangers and mash… It may have just been as bad

Oh my gosh! This place was so tasty! I ordered a rare burger(super simple, but you’d be surprised how often that order is completely ruined) and my boyfriend ordered fish and chips(once easy order, easy to mess up) with the pretzel to share. First off, the pretzel was heavenly. It was crisp with amazing herbs and coarse sea salt on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside, and the sauce it came with was super tastey. It is so rare that when you order rare that you get what you want. Not here! I was served a perfectly rare burger. So yummy! Oh, and the fish and chips. The coating wasn’t too heavy on the beer flavor but still crisp, light and flakey. Normally, if the batter is cooked well it is hard to still get a medium cooked fish, but they did it right here! Will definitely come back here again!

The food was quality and reasonable. The venue had opportunity to eat out on patio and it was a nice experience with ability to order and eat outside. As the night went on customers could also go inside to listen to live band. Nice place to hang out for live music and good food.

This is a great place to go with friends. I go here every tuesday to play trivia at 8pm. the host is a cool guy and a great announcer. It wasn’t until recently that they brought back their amazing thursday night specials. Thursdays are one of my favorite days here now. During the summer they have great bands that come and play. There is no cover and great drink specials. If you ever miss a happy hour on a thursday, come here. Their happy hour starts at 9pm and goes through 11. Definitely one of my goto places in Annapolis.

I have updated my previous review, as UJs decided to bring back Power Hour! Drink specials are back, live music is great, and the patio is open! My friends and I have enjoyed going back to one of our favorite spots in Annapolis twice a week. Even more so, Trivia Nights on Tuesdays are fun and a great way to spend time testing your brain and socializing with friends! What more could you want besides trivia and half-priced burgers?

A visit to Union Jack’s was a complete accident when we were looking for another place for dinner, but it worked out very nicely. I wasn’t sure what to expect inside, but a spacious restaurant and bar with darts, TVs and pool tables made for a fun atmosphere. My intent was to carbo-load a bit with some pizza before my race the next day, so we opted to split a «Heathrow» pie with pepperoni and mushrooms. Our waitress, who was a complete dear, explained that the semi-thin crust pizzas weren’t overly huge, so we decided to also go with a pound of the Thai Red Curry mussels at an attractive $ 5 Happy Hour pricing. The mussels were a great appetizer… not too many to get full, but not too few that you felt they weren’t worth the effort. The pizza was also very good, baked to a perfect crispy crust with just enough toppings. We certainly had no problem emptying the entire pan prior to shooting a couple games of pool and then heading out for the evening. Well worth the accidental find!
