Place was packed, worked our way into the bar and found two seat. Great caesar salad, crisp lettuce and good service. Ordered the medium classic pizza. There was two of us and it was too much. Pizzas was loaded and crust was crisp. Great selection of beers they make, dont expect to order an Alaskan amber because they only have there crafted beers which are good.

I lived out of state for 8 years now and everytime I come back to Anchorage, I give myself 24 hours to eat Moose’s Tooth Pizza and guzzle down some tasty Apple Beer. One of my favorite places to eat ever. People are cool, great food, delicious brewery, atmosphere can be a little rambunctious but hey… thats Alaska for ya. If anything, it just adds to the ambiance and reminds me of home.

Having been a nearly lifelong resident to Alaska, I can remember the days before Moose’s Tooth even existed. And having been here literally hundreds of times over the years, I will be the first to admit I have a love/hate relationship with them. When the service is good, it is very good. And when it is bad, it leaves a lasting impression to where you wonder if perhaps it is time to boycott it all together or simply sit it out for a while and try again in the future. My choice is usually the latter. My bad experiences haven’t been so much with service issues but the several times I have found hair in my food. And when brought it to the attention of the management all I received was a, «well what do you want me to do about it?» So needless to say based on past history I am not sold on all these four and five star reviews. Moose’s Tooth to me is simply okay. On a recent visit after not having been here in a while(you guessed it, another experience of hair in my food) I decided to meet a friend here for lunch. It was a bustling Saturday afternoon and we arrived just in time. We were able to be seated in under a mere five minutes which is a rarity especially on a weekend. We were quickly greeted and found the server to be especially friendly. I ordered a moose ranch salad with blackened chicken and a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. The meal was served quickly and everything was to order. The salad chilled and crisp. We were able to sit and chat and catch up while people watching. I could have however done with the constant booth rocking and«thump thump thump» from the children sitting behind us in the next booth. Moose’s Tooth were definitely on their game that day. And I will continue to visit until I again have the experience with the extra dose of hair in my food. Hoping that day does not come.

My god did we have to wait for a table, but it was worth it. There’s a reason there is such a long wait for such a big restaurant. SETTING: The building for Moose’s Tooth is huge, I can’t really even estimate their capacity. We came on a Friday night and waited over an hour for a table. People filled the inside waiting area, were crammed into the outdoor beer garden and spilling out of multiple entrances to the parking lot. I mean this place is a freaking zoo – they even have bouncers. The feel itself is casual and lodgy, pretty much what you would expect from an Alaskan pizzeria. SERVICE: Okay so it took 75 min to be seated when they said 45, so we were like hangry when we got to the table. Once we did get seated though, our server was pretty on point. The food didn’t take too long to prepare and he even brought me a sample of beer he thought I would like based on what I ordered in the previous round. FOOD(and drinks): A cool thing about Moose’s Tooth is that they brew their own beer and you can get growlers and six packs to go. I got the Northern Lights Amber Ale which I enjoyed. For food, I had some of the sesame soy salad which was quite fresh and green considering that the type of restaurant(usually from a place like this I would expect a lot of iceberg and certainly not sesame soy glaze). They have a ton of menu items both pizza and otherwise with multiple bases to choose from(like their Denali base which is ricotta mixed with spinach, interesting). I got a backpacker pizza which was nothing short of excellent. Sadly, I don’t live in Alaska. Otherwise, I would probably be a regular.

A true, authentic, local spot. This place makes me want to move to Alaska. Absolute perfection in terms of service. My husband left his phone in a taxi cab and several staff helped him to try and track it down. Pizza was absolutely delicious. Loved the crust, and fresh cheeses and meats. You can’t go wrong with your selection. Diablo cheese sticks were just okay for us, but we still enjoyed them. I also enjoyed an amazing glass of white Zinfandel while we waited for our table. Crowds are large to wait for a table, but just start a conversation with a local and time will fly. Use this time to meet local Alaskans and add more dimension and depth to your Alaskan vacation.

I only gave Moose’s Tooth 4-stars?! Ha! Was I playing hard to get? If I were, MT has now made me an honest man out of me. You woo’d me, MT, you really did. After dozens of visits, I’m ready to put a 5-star-on-it. MT isn’t just some of the best pizza in Anchorage, it’s some of the best FOOD in Anchorage. Not only that, it is VERY reasonably priced. It’s cheap for a lower-48 craft-pizza joint, let alone one in Anchorage! Yes, the wait times are very long, it’s true. I usually tend to dodge them by: 1) Eating alone: oh, the humanity! Don’t worry, introverts do it alone. 2) Eating here between 2pm and 4pm. After the lunch rush, but well before post-work-happy-hour. 3) Eating with one other person and being vigilant about snagging one of the pub tables near the bar. I usually order the«Veggie Delight» pizza and folks sitting next to me almost always exclaim«That looks REALLY good, I’ve never gotten that one before, what is that?». I’m not even a vegetarian, it’s just THAT good. Where else can you get crisp veggies in Alaska? Order it. Of course, all of their beer is comfortably above average with some beers rising to «excellent» and«legendary» statuses. I usually get whatever their specials are. They often have 2 – 6 special taps at Moose’s Tooth, which is a huge advantage compared to Bear Tooth where they usually have one or two. Service is always incredible. Best bartenders and waitstaff in Anchorage, and probably Alaska. This is one of the few restaurants in Anchorage where it’s almost impossible to be ignored for more than a couple minutes. Come for the veggie delight, stay for the beer.
