Those authentic raspados! It is a scary little strip mall but once you get over the fear this is the place to come for a refreshing treat. They are not made with that artificial syrup, they have actual fruit pieces. My favorite is the diablito(if you like sweet and spicy).

Some of the better raspados I’ve ever had come from this small store located in a not so nice strip mall. The syrup used is made with real fruit and the ice is more like ice chips then shaved. Combine that all and you have yourself a great raspado. Unfortunately the last couple of times that I have been here they have been a little too sweet. Don’t forget to pick up some pan dulce while you’re there!

This place has some of the best Mexican Bread in town. My favorite has got to be the cream cheese and Jalapeño filled roll. Its very spicy… but the burn tastes so good! :) Another favorite has got to be the Corn bread. Its not corn bread like you get in the south… I would call it more like a corn pie. Its a bit denser than bread. But Wait! There is more. This is the reason why we make the drive to carousel… THERASPADOS! Raspados are shaved ice cups. They are not like your typical sold on the street raspados…(In some Hispanic neighborhoods). The street ones seem to be just manufactured syrup flavors. At Carousel, you can tell you are getting the original made from real fruit flavors. The syrup actually has pieces of the fruit in it. Some of the flavors are: Strawberry, Vanilla, Coconut, Kiwi, Mango, Tamarind, Bubblegum, Pineapple, Piña colada, Peach, Plum, Nuez(nut?), and the DIABLITO. The Diablito is a raspado that is made from Tamarind, Mango, Chamoy(a Syrupy candy made from Plum) Hot Sauce, and Chile Powder. Its not super spicy, but its got kick. There are many more flavors that I cant remember, but yeah got to have a raspado from Carousel!
