Natural Instincts Healthy Pet Center

We did rattlesnake aversion training today with our dog who has already been bit. At first I was very hesitant about it because I know they shock them to train them and had done my research. The reason why I chose to go with natural instinct and the people they trust to do it is because I know that with the owners having working dog and K9 experience they would choose the right people to do it and boy did they! It was very well organized and efficient. Bess is a large lab/​rottie mix that a lot of people are afraid of and they weren’t which was nice. She walked right up put her nose on the snake and was corrected immediately. She was corrected once more and that was it. Everyone was very professional and the training is a great piece of gear! The store is also nice and we took her there afterwards for a much deserved treat and bath! All around great place!

Let me start off saying that Amy the trainer for rattlesnake awareness is amazing. … she provided me with the best customer service I’ve ever received. I had a rattlesnake in front of my storage unit and I had no idea who to call. I than thought of natural instincts and that they would know who to call… and she stayed on the phone with me the whole time until I received help. I’m not even a customer there «yet» and she went above and beyond to help me.

I boarded my Pyrenees here for 5 nights last month. I was nervous because I have never boarded him before. Needless worry! Chewy had a fantastic time with the other dogs. They fed him their recommended food and groomed him for me. A true 5 star experience for Chewy and me! I now buy their food too.

Went here yesterday for the first time to get some wet food for my dog because I didn’t want to go down the hill… and WOW I was EXTREMELY impressed. I didn’t think that it would be so nice and clean inside. I couldn’t help but to look at everything and bought more than just wet food (oops). The women (owner?) was so professional and knowledgeable. She answered every question I had. I was going to buy flea med ($ 15.99) and she suggested I try Fossil Shell Flour ($ 2.99) instead for what I needed… To show me something else that was cheaper showed to me that she was really listening to my concerns and didn’t just care about a sale. I will be going here a lot! So glad I decided to stop by!

This is the best pet store around. The owners and employees are SUPER friendly and knowledgeable. Their prices are even competitive with the big chain stores which is great. I highly recommend you give them a try.

I used to live in Alpine and took my baby girl here alot for her Doggy Day Spa. Most dogs do not enjoy the wash, however NIHPC makes the setting so cozy and cool. Most times the candles and music is going. If it’s not, please ask and they are more than happy to accommodate. I’ve been around town in SD to many of the dog wash stores and a lot are for small/​medium dogs, no parking or unsafe. Who wants to lift an 80 pound dog in/​out of a tub?
I never bought dog food here but the treats for the ride home and doggy love décor is amazing. It’s a great set up and since I moved, driving from the Southbay to Alpine is a nice time with your pooch. They always had enough towels and amenities to service us when we came. I would give NIHPC a 5 star rating if there were non-​slip pads on the floor. That’s the only thing I can say that needs a little boost. My girl was 12 years old and having a senior dog slip on the floor can be the worst. Overall, I will go back here again and look forward to the rhinestone dog owner décor behind the counter. Love it! I used to be very loyal to this store until they went in a completely different direction with their cat food selections. They used to carry Wellness, Felidae, Natural instincts and other premium brands with several different proteins to choose from. Then, about a year or so ago, they got rid of many of the American-​made cat foods and started leaning HEAVILY toward Asian-​made fish based foods. This really surprised me as seafood protein is not species-​appropriate for cats.
I spoke to the cashiers about this a couple of times, but to no avail. The foods my cat liked kept disappearing and the fish based foods kept coming. So, I had to find other retailers that had similar approaches to feeding, namely All 4 pets and Pet People.
This week, I got sick and was unable to make it down the hill to buy food, so I came by this store to get some emergency provisions. They still have 2 or 3 brands that my cat will eat (Merrick and Evangers), but the rest of the canned food was very fish-​heavy and completely inappropriate for cats.
I’m so disappointed as I loved coming here – and I dropped $ 75 or so a month when I did. It’s still a nice store, and the people are nice enough, but the point is that much of the food they sell is not good for cats.
To be fair, I have not had a chance to evaluate their raw food selection – they did not have that when I was shopping there regularly. If I find that this is a standout, I will update my review. Until then 2.5 stars only because they do seem to have a lot of stuff for dogs.

I am very loyal to this store — they are always cheerful and friendly, and answer any and all pet questions. I am surprised to see a bad review here as I have shopped this store dozens of times and never, ever had a bad experience. They are locally owned and operated. Their products are only top quality and prices are competitive with Petco, etc.

This is the best pet store ever! The owners are so knowledgeable about what to feed your pets, and what NOT to feed your pets. They have the best selection of treats, at the best prices! My dogs love going there, not only to choose their own treats, but to enjoy a luxurious bath. The pet washing tubs are the finest quality, and easiest to use. Other dog washes have unsafe pet walks up to the tubs, or are slippery and can cause your dog to slip and hurt itself. At Natural Instincts, the pet washes are not only comfortable for your dog, but they are comfortable for you too! I drive all the way from Temecula just to visit this store. It’s worth the drive, and my dogs think so too! Thank you Natural Instincts for helping me be a better mom to my pets!

This place is great! The staff always goes above and beyond to help with any questions I have. I took my puppy their last weekend to their self serve dog wash and was very pleased. It was very clean and they provided everything I needed get the job done. The lady working and the groomer they have on site even helped me clip my dogs nails. I can’t say enough about this place and how helpful they are.

I love this store! The staff is always friendly & eager to assist you. They have a variety of natural foods & treats for your pets including raw food. I’ve noticed a tremendous difference in my pets behavior & attitude since I changed their diet. I will never buy food or treats from a regular pet store again!!!
