I have eaten here twice in the last month trying to give the new owners a chance. Unfortunately, they did not retain the recipes of the old owners. The food is terrible. After eating here weekly for several years, I will not be back. Please come back Vee and Mary! We miss your great food!

Since it got sold, we’ve tried eating here 4 times. Ordered different things we liked from the old owner’s menu that these guys make as well, but none of the items tasted as good as before. Either not spicy at all or overdone with heat. Flavors are not rich with the Thai flavors. I haven’t been this disappointed in years. As much as we tried to like it, it was impossible. I rather pay double for the old owner’s menu and recipes. Time to find another local Thai restaurant.

I am sorry to give a bad review but the food isn’t very tasty under new management. Probably I won’t go back again.

New Owners did not steal the old owners recipes. BIGMISTAKE!!! I’ll give them less than 6 months before going out of business!

We came because of the high ratings. We left disappointed. The food server was distracted and doing anything other than serving us. The food was OK but not worth the charges. The whole place feels disorganized. Nothing here was worth the time or the money. You might be able to find Thai food elsewhere ;-)

Quick Update: They recently changed owners and some of the recipes are different. I am a bit concerned that some of the food I like is no longer. Will give it a month and see how they do.

I haven’t written a review in awhile, felt compelled to after my visit here. As other negative reviews mention, it is under ‘new management’. With that said, the people are cordial. However, I had Panang chicken curry. Chicken was overcooked and, most importantly, the curry did not have any flavor. Neither sweet nor savory. Just blah. I don’t recommend their Panang chicken curry. I can’t speak to anything else, but the end result of the Panang doesn’t compel me to return, at all.

Siamese Express is under new management and it shows! The service was kind and friendly, but the food was so bad I can’t give the experience more than one star. It wasn’t bad for Thai food, it was bad food. They really need to buy the recipes from the old owner otherwise they are in trouble. I love Thai food so much, thanks in part to the old Siamese, that I will likely give it one more shot in about a month once the new team has a chance to get their legs under them… I hope they turn it around enough to last that long. Please come back, good Thai food!

I’ve been going to this place for years and the food was always excellent. It recently changed ownership. My husband and I did a takeout order a couple of nights ago and were repulsed at the food we were given by the new owners. The pad Thai was coagulated and there were lumps of rice that was old in a few of the other dishes. We tried to salvage the pad Thai in a frying pan to no avail. The egg rolls were stale. The broccoli was brown and not fresh. We couldn’t stomach any of the food and ended up throwing it away. We paid more than $ 60 for this takeout order and were appalled the new owners would serve this kind of low quality, bad food to customers. The previous owners were amazing cooks and would never serve this kind of slop. This business won’t last long if this is how they prepare and serve food. Will never go back again.

Great place. I can taste the authenticity of the Thai flavors here! I had the Pad Thai noddles with veggies. Medium spicy. It was the perfect amount of heat. The sauce with these Pad Thai noodles is really flavorful too. The portion was plentiful and was enough for me to split into two meals. If this dish is a good reflection of how the rest of their food is, then I’m coming back soon!

Seen the place for years and finally decided to check this place out. Being a lover of Thai Food, some of my best friends are Thai(one who’s Mom prepares food at the Wat Thai Temple in NoHo) and tend to crave Thai Food often. Problem, as many know, is there are not many places in South OC making good quality Thai Food. Some either making it as cheap as possible, others just make bad food and some try to fancy-it-up and try to charge $$$. Siamese Express is just poor quality food. Pains me to write bad reviews when A) It’s close to where I live B) I always attempt to support my local businesses C) Owners/Workers seem very nice. I ordered Pad See Ew to go. It didnt take too long. Took it to the car so I could listen to the radio. Opened up the container to eat it and noticed the grease at the bottom of the container. I started to get some doubt but not like I havent had good tasting greasy food before — just not greasy Pad See Ew. I took the bite. Th mouth and stomach confirmed my initial thought: greasy bad tasting mess. If a trash can was near, would have tossed it. My kid, a foodie who will eat any noodle: opened up the container, looked at it, closed the container, tied the bag back up and asked if we could go get something to eat. His reaction pretty much summed up my experience with this place. Maybe they had a new cook, guy in the back was my peeps(Latino), wasn’t anyone Thai. A good cook is a good cook and should know what is being sent out of the kitchen. Owner should be on top of what is going out as well.

Came here for a quick Thai fix. The place is rather small. You can truly tell it’s a mom and pop shop. I ordered off of their specials menu, the beef noodle soup with meatballs. My fiancé and I also ordered the shrimp rolls as an appetizer, and as his entrée, he ordered the beef panang curry with brown rice. The food had arrived. We first had the shrimp rolls. They were alright. Shrimp had a weird texture to it. It just tasted like the rolls were frozen and then they just deep-fried it. The beef noodle soup got a little better with my tastebuds. The broth was yummy! I added some of the vinegar and jalapeños for added flavor. The only downside to this was that the beef was really gristle-y and there also wasn’t that much meat to begin with. I ended up with mainly noodles and broth. The beef panang. I’ve definitely had better. The broth was super watery. The description of the flavors. imagine«spicy water.» Meat wasn’t tender. Oh, and there were only a few pieces too. They could’ve slow-cooked their meat for a longer time and added more coconut milk to thicken their base. Overall, I don’t think I will come back just because the food wasn’t that good. Also, it was all rather pricey was the portion that we got.

Stopped in as I drove by and noticed a Thai restaurant in the area. I received great customer service. He was very nice and helpful. Menu has a variety of some of my go-to Thai favorites. Decided on the peanut sauce with glass noodles and a chicken recommendation. Happy to say I finally found a peanut sauce recipe at a restaurant I like. I’d eat that over plain noodles and rice any day. Most likely will try a couple more items before a four star review or higher since I went with something so basic on this visit.

This place was a pleasant surprise. My sister and I really enjoyed the food here. Mom and pop and the food was amazing. I actually liked this better than all the thai places I have tried, mainly because their chicken was perfectly cooked and their green curry was noticeably authentic. Will be coming here again soon!

Siamese Express is located in the complex off of La Paz, near Target and Stater Bros. I’d heard that the food here was good, so I placed a to-go order. When calling, they were out of certain items. I had a bit of difficulty inquiring about whether certain dishes were vegetarian or not, but they were able to make a soup without chicken broth that was still flavorful, which I appreciated. Coming in, you can definitely tell that it’s a «Mom and Pop» store. For the price, though, I expected portions to be bigger. The food was decent… but the portions were just too small to justify the $ 8-$ 10 average per dish. If I was shopping nearby and had a major craving for Thai food, I’d consider coming here again to support the local business, but I prefer the Thai Bite restaurants, which have bigger servings for the same price.

Very disappointed in the quality of food, especially after reading all the great reviews. Ordered the chicken Pad Thai, it was ok. Didn’t seem very fresh and the noodles were orange for some reason. The beef Pan Nang was extremely spicy. I love me some spice but goodness I wasn’t expecting my mouth to burn from one bite. The quality of the beef used was also poor. Pan nang broth was also very liquidly, I’m used to a thicker more creamier texture. Chicken with Chile and basil was good, but nothing to rave about. Overall the food was ok, not terrible but expected more for the price. If you want Thai in Aliso Viejo, Urban Thai up the street is far better.

The best food ever!!! The owners are very gracious and are fast in their service. This is a must stop place you’ve got to try all of their food. I have been coming here for over 12 years.

The food here are great(Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Thai Fried Rice, House Chow Mien spicy, Curry, Tom Yum, Thai Beef Noodle Soup, etc). The owners(husband & wife team) are friendly & accommodating. This place is located just across from Stater Bros, next to a sushi place. Plenty of parking. Indoor & outdoor seating.

I ordered takeout from Siamese Express yesterday(April 10, 2015) and was somewhat disappointed. I went in around 3:00 and even though they had a Closed sign and would not re-open until 4:00, they were gracious enough to still serve me. I ordered the $ 9.99 Crab Fried Rice and took it back to my desk at work to eat. When I opened it, I saw the«crab» consisted of 2 crab claws and a few(4 or 5?) chunks of imitation crab. Maybe I simply ordered the wrong dish for this place, but I was expecting shredded crab meat and not imitation crab. Even though there was not much egg in the fried rice either, the portions and taste were OK. Based on this, I’m not sure if I will come back and try something else though.

For the price you pay and the portions you receive, this place is pricey(for some dishes). I don’t think there’s as much competition in the area. And I’m sure the prices are they way they are due to the location. You can get more meat on your plate for a cheaper price in other areas. For the price you pay here, it should have been a sit down restaurant; too bad the place is too small to be one. My friends and I decided to check out this place because it was near one of my friends house and it had high ratings. It supposedly wasn’t pricey either(according to Unilocal). All of our food came out hot and fresh. What we ordered/shared family style: 1) Orange Chicken w/white rice — I haven’t had this in a long time and decided to order it. The portions were pretty big(the chicken and rice). I was satisfied with this order. 2) Crying Tiger — mainly veggies and meat, which tasted like carne asada; it was a bit plain. And with the sauce, it tasted salty; I didn’t like it. It was too much for the meat or didn’t go with it. 3) Chicken Curry with potato — this dish was alright. They did skimp out on the meat though. But they did give a lot of rice. It would’ve been great if there was more chicken on the plate. 4) Lad Nah, Beef, Broccoli, and Gravy — pretty good, although it didn’t have as much meat. 5) Siamese Mixed Veggies — it was alright. More flavoring would’ve made it tasted better though. Food was good. You can tell this was a popular local spot because there was always people in line ordering when we were there. As for service, customer service was alright. I didn’t even ask for a cup for water, but the cashier guy gave me one. Thanks man. FYI: if your order is less than $ 8 and you use a credit card, you will be charged $ 0.30
