Cheapest brunch in the area, explains why there’s a long wait sometimes. It’s your standard diner food, nothing extraordinary. Service can be slow during their busy times. The bar is sticky and uncomfortable to sit at. The Italian sub is oddly shaped, instead of the bread being cut from the side they cut it on the top. They then stuffed the toppings in, and it was unwieldy. I even asked the waitress how I was supposed to eat this and she shrugged. Another time I thought I was only given 2 pancakes when I ordered 3 and wanted to clarify with the waitress. She was rude about it. I still come back from time to time, when I just want your standard breakfast food. It’s tasty.

Hubby and I went to Table Talk for breakfast. The food was very good. Hubby ordered buttermilk pancakes and sausage. I ordered scrambled eggs and crispy bacon with dry wheat toast. The toast had to be sent back. It was not dry. The service was good as the waitress kept refilling my coffee cup. It’s worth going back.

Check new menu prices before sitting down! Prices have gone up by 50% on a majority of items. There are so many places you can get a decent burger and fries in Alexandria for less than $ 11. The new owner continues to make changes, Thankfully they have kept the same staff which is the only reason I may return.

I love coming here! It’s really good breakfast! Awesome lunch!!! And it’s always always busy! But you still get your food right away! The only thing I hope for is for them to be open for longer! Sometimes I just want a sandwich at 5 and they close at 3! P.S prices went up(by about 2.10) apparently it was bought from the original owner back in June :(…hoping it does not change too much

Cute little place, very popular. The waitresses are sweet, and the owner sometimes pops in. He’s extremely kind, and shows how much he cares. The service is fast, and the food is good. Ordered the ‘Chicken Souvlaki’, twas very big, i enjoyed it, plus it came with a side of fries. All the food on the menu is at a very, very fair price.

My father kept on talking about this place for months. Never understood why, I always was stubborn minded and would say Bob & Evans or Silver Dinner rule over. I WASWRONG. again, They have the BEST home fries, home made. Not chain ran. The French toast is none like any other; it’s almost like my mothers. They probably have grandmas and moms in the kitchen stirring up their secret recipe! SERVICEISEXCELLENT. Without reading my mind, they came around the corner right moment, none like other restaurants where they come when you have food all in your mouth and make it awkward.

It has that time-warp effect as it’s reminiscent of casual restaurants from the 1970’s. The only thing real special about this place is it’s consistency of doing one thing well; classic American breakfast and diner fare. Hey, sometimes that’s what I want. Don’t come here expecting some hipster, gastro-pub cuisine. The food is always good and the service efficient.

For breakfast, the price is reasonable. Food is good. I like the turkey sausage, grits and egg. Great coffee! Non-stop refill. You can talk as long as you want. The owner/manager is very friendly and it’s a plus!

We went for breakfast on a Friday, on the early side. Friendly service, solid(albeit smallish) menu, and perfectly poached eggs. The pancakes were fluffy, the grits were FINE, the coffee was good, and we’d definitely go back for a no-nonsense, affordable meal. Bonus: This place is apparently frequented by local politicos. I felt like I was at a diner in Bensonhurst, but the men were more genteel and wore less black.

This place is God awful. Their pancakes were big and fluffy but had an overwhelming taste of cheap imitation vanilla extract. Home fries were the worst I’ve ever had — literally boiled potatoes doused in paprika and raw onions mixed together. So mushy! I couldn’t find a potato that wasn’t like baby food. My partner ordered an omelette and said it was bland, had little cheese and the veggies were raw. We ate so little the waitress even commented about how we «sure didn’t eat very much.» Don’t waste your time coming here. Denny’s is better.

They are fantastic! I love this place I have never eaten a breakfast that I did not love from them!!! The French Toast is out of this world the pan cakes are mouth watering and the home fries — OMG!!! It’s a small mom and pop the owner tries to say hello to everyone the place is packed on weekends however it’s well worth the weight!!!

We found Table Talk on Unilocal and it fit what we were looking for this morning. Great place to eat. Good food and terrific service and free parking. Located across from whole foods in the heart of Old Town. We will be back!

This place has great old school food with old school prices! The breakfast menu is my favorite — the omelettes are huge and stuffed to the brim with ur choice of fillings. Most breakfast items served with delicious breakfast potatoes. Lunch is just as wonderful. Today I had the Rueben Sandwich(which I’ve had several times before) with fries and it was only $ 7. You can’t beat that! Everything I have tried has been great and cheap! Service is fast(could be a little friendlier), they get very busy and the restaurant seems a little cramped but the quality of the food and the price make up for it! Oh — don’t forget to try the Apple Pie!!!

Great breakfast and great portion for the cost. Both the menu and breakfast screams classic old school breakfast. This shows that keeping things simple is sometimes the best route because all was delicious and fresh. Definitely and place to enjoy a nice breakfast that not only taste good but is very easy on the wallet as well. Breakfast 6÷11÷2015

Slightly more expensive than Denny’s or IHOP and as good for breakfast. But cheaper than the local old town hotels. Never been here for lunch. It’s been around forever and often there is a line out the door. It has nothing special but the wholesome southern cooking I suppose. Still I long for more in such a landmark But if your looking for a meal in Alexandria without spending 12 $ for eggs and coffee you can get you fill here for around $ 7 or 8 as long as your not real picky I got the three egg ham and cheese omelet for $ 7.65 the ladies got two eggs over easy sausage and home fries which they shared. Coffee was ok. Parking is tightly spaced. The service is slow taking nearly 20 minutes for our order to come out and they were winding down there breakfast crowd The home fries are greasy and the sausage salty and unexceptional. The omelet was meh and not as «fluffy» as advertised or could have been if that’s what your promoting I reserve one star for dumps and this place is not that. But it is in need of some food improvements and reinvention if they want more than two stars

Table Talk has been on my list for the longest time(maybe 8 years or so?), ever since I saw it on my first trip to VA — boy, was I excited to finally try them out! This restaurant has been around since ’76, and has been owned & run by the Kapetanakis family. They serve up breakfast items, such as: omelettes, breakfast plates(egg with home fries, breakfast meat, and toast), pancakes, cereal, pastries, fruits, juices, and drinks. The hubs had one of the breakfast plates, which came with 2 eggs of any style(scrambled), sausage, home fries, and buttered toast(they have white, wheat, rye, etc.); he also added a side of corned beef hash. I had the Steak and Eggs, which came with a NY strip steak(thinly-cut), 2 eggs(I had mine over medium; it came a little overcooked), a side of extra well-done home fries(SOCRISPYANDSOGOOD!!!), and buttered rye toast(2, cut in halves; comes with a side of grape jelly) — I thought this combo was pretty tasty, and the portion was generous in size. We also shared one of their breakfast specials, the ‘Creamed Beef on Toast’ — this was like a gravy concoction, smothered on 3 or 4 thick-cut toast, with a side of home fries — the gravy itself was quite overwhelming in terms of the amount, and it was on the bland side; I think I would have preferred sausage gravy or chipped beef. Service was friendly, and there seems to be regular locals who come in. The place closes early(3PM everyday, except on Sundays(where it closes at 2:30)), and they have a small lot for your car. The restaurant itself is quite cute, as it looks like an indoor garden patio(kind of like what you would find in NOLA). Table Talk was a pleasant surprise, and I’ll definitely be back for more breakfast eating! :D +steak and eggs plate +crispy home fries: D +sausage patties +simple breakfast fare +friendly service +lot for your car +located across from Whole Foods

I want to give this place 5 stars, but I am stuck on 4 stars and it is all due to Table Talk’s mushy fried potatoes. If they could just get those suckers crispy, I would be in breakfast Heaven. However, my omelette was cheesy, mushroom goodness, q which along with my server Kira’s amazing service and charming personality, will have me returning to Table Talk again… Seriously, Table Talk, in my book, you’re just one potato away from 5 star greatness!

Meh. I don’t really see the appeal of this place. It reminds me of an old beach house getaway. It’s something you’d see out of the movie Beaches. There are paintings on the ceilings, fake ivy running up the walls, wicker-esk chairs, floral print everything. really the whole 9 yards. From the appeal of the inside to the food itself, my experience could have been better. There was nothing that made it bad, and likewise nothing that made it great. I finally hit this establishment with some coworkers after oogling it for months and much to my dismay that’s all that should have been done — oogling at the structure. Like other reviewers, I wasn’t impressed with my breakfast. The«homefries» were really mushy potatoes without any seasoning. You did get the option to have white, wheat or rye toast which I appreciate. They will also let you substitute an English Muffin in for the toast option. The coffee here is cheap – less than $ 2 and they will keep on refilling, but of course you need to request refills and same goes for the water. Call me crazy, but you should never have to ask for a refill on tap water. TL;DR, it gets the job done in a pinch, but I would suggest going somewhere else if you have the time.

I had breakfast at Table Talk Sunday morning. Table Talk is essentially an overgrown diner: eggs, pancakes, French toast, grits. Diner style watery coffee, regularly refilled by the waitress. Nothing nouveau, updated or trendy. The service is fast and friendly. You pay the cashier who banters with you. And you bump into old friends, well-dressed people heading to and from church, and folks taking out breakfast in styrofoam containers. There’s free parking. You would call TT «retro» except they aren’t trying to be ironic, retro, or hip. This is just the way they’ve made and sold food since, I’d guess, the 1960s.
