My husband and I, along with 3 other couples dined here on Valentine’s Day 2016. It was amazing! The Korean style lamb chops were cooked and seasoned to perfection! The salad had just the right amount of dressing on it. I don’t usually eat dressing on my salad, but this was so tasty. It wasn’t too sweet, nor too savory… PERFECT! We ordered the Valentine’s special deal. I had sea bass with polenta, topped with corn. OMG it was so so good. I wish it was part of their regular menu. My husband raved about the sea bass. He ate a 3rd of it. My husband ordered filet and grilled shrimp. He had sweet potato hash as his side. Again, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Others had the Chicken Orleans(a favorite of mine), filiet, lobster bisque, and bison burger. The cheesecake was extremely creamy and flavorful! At the end our our meal, my friends all said that I made a good choice in choosing this restaurant. I LOVE this place and definitely will keep coming back. By the way… if you like French Onion soup, you will LOVE theirs!!!

Joe’s in Old Town is always a goto when you want high quality, wide selection of food and drink, and great service. It is obvious they train their staff on how to take care of the customer. You can’t go wrong by eating here lunch or dinner.

Since my last review, the staff at Joe Theismann’s not only contacted me to apologize for the poor service I had experienced, but they remediated the situation by providing me a gift card to give them a second chance. I went back to this restaurant with my teammates after one of our weeknight soccer games. Our waiter provided us excellent service which consisted of refilling our drinks several times since we were dehydrated and lots of appetizers. My boyfriend and I are planning on going back in the future for a date night.

For New Years we decided to try them out. I must say the food was better than I expected. The filet mignon w/truffle butter was perfect. Melt in your mouth. My girlfriend wanted to switch but she had the lamb chops. Again cooked just to the righy temperature. Granted my name was on the table. Every person working made sure that we had a wonderful start to the new year. Great food and service. I will be back for new years. Oh and a great lemon basil martinis.

I ate here twice during my visit to DC. Both dishes were good, my issue was that both times they tried to seat me at the bar(i was dining alone being in class). The first time, a table appeared in 1 minute showing that they just wanted to fill up the bar, the second time there was a 20 minute wait but they were crowded, so understandable. The greeter took away from the lunch, I think if the restaurant encourages their«greeters» not to try to push the bar area on it’s patrons, and let them ask if they wish to sit there, it would be a more positive vibe.

I remember my first time here(late July 2011) was for one of my last one-daters before meeting my wife. Every time I’ve been back(including earlier tonight), it’s been with my wife. We’ve always had great service and great dinners! Tonight, one of the specials was the crab stuffed flounder($ 24). I was in the mood for a steak, but was glad I changed my mind and tried this! My wife had the filet mignon($ 28) and she loved it. We tend to try a few bites of each other’s meals, which gives us that incentive to keep coming back!

Good cocktails and yummy appetizers with no pressure to order more than that as we waited for family to arrive at the King Street Metro. I have to add that I loved the Seared Tuna appetizer! I could have eaten two and called it a night. Delicious!

Dinner was great as always. Met two friends for dinner plus two of our kids. Ordered the calamari and the chicken tenders as apps because they are our favs. The tenders are made in house. Very flavorful and light on the breading. Had the lemon basil martini which is my drink of choice when I go to Jt’s. I try to order something different at times so I got the Cajun shrimp salad and it was very good. I would definitely order it again. Derrick was our server. He was busy with a full room but very attentive to us. We ask for his section if he is working.

Great casual option in downtown Alexandria. We were exhausted from a day of sightseeing, and wanted something easy. Theismann’s was welcoming for us as a family and it had a wide variety of dishes and drinks to choose from. Portions were great, and the soups and salads were also well done. Great family option. The Dark & Stormy was pretty good too.

This was overall a nice experience but nothing to write home to mom about. I would give them 3 ½ stars if I could but since I can’t I rounded up for the pleasant server. We started with lamb chops & those were great. For the main course I had roasted salmon which was pretty tasty. The atmosphere seemed as much bar driven as restaurant. Although that can be appealing at the right moment, lunch time isn’t that time.

My go-to lunch spot and a great Happy Hour spot as well. I have had just about everything on the lunch menu and nothing has let me down. My favorite is the Chicken Louisiana and the Rueben sandwich. They have different specials everyday and I love trying new items. The staff is always very nice and very attentive.

I visited this restaurant with a group and we chose it based on the location(which is right across from the King Street Metro). We also had one vegetarian in our group and therefore sought a place that can cater to her as well. First, I must compliment on the excellent service we received from the moment we walked in to the very end of our meal. Our waiter, Patrick, was pretty cool. We were super impressed with how much of the menu items he memorized and his overall humor and fun personality. Items others weren’t sure about, he was able to explain exactly what it was and true to his word. He always checked in to refill our basket with those delicious freshly baked rolls and drinks. Ask for Patrick as your server. He’s awesome. :) The ambiance reminds me of a classier version of Ruby Tuesday. There’s full bar service with several TV’s mounted; the noise level is actually average. We were able to have normal conversation without having to yell over each other. Outdoor seating is available, however we passed on the opportunity due to the humidity. I had the California Chicken for my entrée and so glad that I did. I am a huge fan of avocados, so the only way to deter me from eating them is if they went bad. The pico de gallo and rice gave this meal such a burst of flavor. I ate every bit off my plate. It was so delicious and very filling. If you don’t like tomatoes and onions or anything a tad bit spicy and tangy, then this isn’t for you. The dessert menu, though very small, offers delicious choices. I got the Dulce de Leche cheesecake, which was okay. There was another item that wasn’t on the menu(which Patrick told us about) that was fantastic. I can’t recall the name of the item. I snuck a piece off a friend’s plate, and boy, I wish I had that instead. I can only hope it makes it’s way on to the menu permanently. Overall, we all had a wonderful experience and plan on making this one of our new favorite restaurants/sports bar.

I’ve lived in Alexandria for a few years now and had a bad impression of Joe Theismann’s for some reason. I guess I made the unfair assumption that a sports themed restaurant would be average. I was wrong. Firstly, the service is great here. Bartenders, hosts/hostesses and servers are all friendly and competent. Basic bar food and classic American type fare are all done well here. The salads are all great and the nachos are the best. I’ve been at least 4 times over the last couple of months and service, food, drinks have always been consistent.

This is an A-OK American restaurant. My favorite part was the staff and the environment. There are large framed sports photos(the are varied but I was happy to have a view of Joe Theismann picture from back in the day). I looked at other views that called it an upscale sports bar. I respectfully have to disagree(although the bar itself may be different); to me this was nice sit down establishment with a sports related theme that was not over powering. The staff are dressed in classic black and white attire(not ref or team themed wear, and thankfully no sport whistles). They had some classics as well as more current trends. My hubby had(& enjoyed) the gumbo. I tried the lobster bisque, it was very thick and a bowl may have been too much. I was in the mood for a pulled pork sandwich. It was OK, there was a lot of bun. Our friend got the fish tacos and thought they were pretty good. There were some current salad trends including kale. None of us had room for dessert but the selections looked pretty good(I might have tried a few if they had the shot class serving sizes, think Seasons 52). Items I might try include duck spring rolls, lollipop lamb chops, cajun shrimp salad. On a side note — check out their phone number, it made me laugh, so many 7s.

We really enjoy this place for many reasons — cool atmosphere, GREAT food, close to the metro, and good service! One thing that realllly stands out to me is their buffalo chicken sandwich. I know, basic. BUT seriously, there is something about the blue cheese dressing they use and how amazingly gooey it is all over the buffalo-sauce soaked chicken. I could go on an on about how I crave this sandwich. It is not on their dinner menu but they will let you off the lunch menu at dinner time. If I had to find something to complain about it — the HH isn’t amazing and it doesn’t include any appetizers to my knowledge. Also, I’ve never had it but my fiancé raves about their turkey burger. Lean and savory!

I had a previous review that was quite negative based on an experience I had at the bar with one of the servers and a cup of tea… Long story short, the manager reached out to me apologize and was quite willing to rectify the problem. I appreciate their diligence and following up. I increased their rating because the rest of my dinner experience there was actually quite pleasant. I had the honey glazed seafood kabobs with asparagus which was very yummy… i cleaned my plate completely. I would eat there again at this point.

I haven’t been to Theismann’s in about ten years. So when my dad suggested it as a meet up for dinner last night I gladly made a reservation. It’s just as I remembered it being. Sports memorabilia everywhere, a laid back pub feel in the front and then a more upscale dinning area in the back of the restaurant. I like Theismann’s. I think it does bar food well, but it also has a decent selection of traditional American food(steaks, fish, salads, pasta) and not so traditional fare, like the Halloumi Skewers I ordered last night. Totally delicious btw. Grilled cheese on a stick=my kind of dinner! We had a good time, our server Melissa took very good care of us all night. Fast forward to a few months later and my husband and I found ourselves solo for Thanksgiving. We went in around 4 pm expecting a limited menu and a nice evening. One of those assumptions was correct. But this time were not nearly as impressed with the food or service. Also, we were seated in the bar area, but at a real table so could have dinner and still watch the game, but felt that our server rushed us through dinner as fast as possible to flip tables since they were starting to get busy. Not cool. I guess this is one of those times where it is what it is. Theismann’s is a sports bar and even though it tries to be a real restaurant, it doesn’t always succeed.
