Malia’s Makeup Artistry

Getting your make up done by Malia is a MUST! Anyone looking for a professional makeup artist in the DMV please contact her! She is absolutely amazing! Perfect contouring, outstanding blending of the eye shadows and overall wonderful !! She always does a great job, from a simple look to a wild look, she can make it happen! She knows exactly what you want, with or without the pics! Amazing price and so worth it :)

Malia got back to me right away after I had left a voicemail on her cell. She also moved up the time of one of her regular clients in order to accommodate me because I had an early morning event. Her studio is in her home, but it’s absolutely so chic and professional. She is flexible about a look you want her to create or with you giving her free reign. I have her free reign and my look came out GORGEOUS. Yes the makeup she does is heavy, but what’s the point of paying for a makeup artist for a natural look? Anyways it’s all about preference. The makeup she does is NOT outdated by any means. She does excellent contouring and beautiful eye shadows. She even created a lip color perfectly suited to my skin tone and outfit. You can see her work on Facebook. I’m sure if you asked she could also do something more natural or simple looking but where’s the fun in that?

I wish there was a way to give a business ZERO stars because Malia’s Makeup Artistry sure deserves it! Let me tell you why. My sister booked Malia to do her wedding makeup months before her wedding day. Malia was in full agreement and told my sister to contact her for a trial session as the wedding date got closer. When my sister contacted Malia to set up an appointment for her trial, Malia’s memory had failed her! Oh no, someone please get her a neurologist asap! She had conveniently «forgotten» her agreement with my sister because she had booked another bride on the same date. Why would she book another bride when my sister had booked her months in advance? I will tell you why — this other bride had a larger wedding party, which meant more money for Malia… which is kind of necessary since she needs a neurologist for her newfound dementia. :) At any rate, Malia said that my sister needed to «work» with her and that she would do her makeup at 12pm. The wedding was scheduled to start at 7pm. Why on earth would my sister want her makeup done 7 hours before her wedding?! Needless to say, my sister cancelled altogether, which is what Malia was pushing her to do.
Pat yourself on the back, Malia. You were quite successful in causing unnecessary panic by pulling your unprofessional move weeks before my sister’s wedding. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that my sister found a much better makeup artist who actually knows what she’s doing! :)
Okay, so after I heard how ridiculous Malia is, I did some digging and found her Facebook page. All I can say is CAKED ON like woah. If you want to look like a CLOWN, then Malia is your gal. She is so over-​the-​top and does not understand what «natural beauty» means. What a blessing in disguise! I am so glad she didn’t turn my sister into a clown on her very special day.
Since I didn’t have the pleasure of giving Malia a piece of my mind, I decided to Unilocal about it. I figured YOU should know what you’re getting yourself into. If you want a professional, reliable, talented makeup artist on your special day, then Malia is NOT the person for you!
