This is place is spacious and has enough TVs to comfortably watch any sports game without being too squished. I liked that we were able to grab a big round table for our group even even though we arrived during a big cowboys game. They have bar seating available too and some pool tables near the bars. Wells were cheap and the beers were about the same price if I remember correctly. This is addison so don’t forget for you non-smokers, that this place will require that you shed your clothes and shower as soon as you leave. Service was good and overall I had a good time.

Been here twice, should have known better the 2nd time. Slow service below average food 45 min. for a burger. Menu sounds interesting but does not produce.

Great location for sporting events, they have tons of TV’s covering every wall and display almost every game. The atmosphere is pretty good with alot of loud and rowdy people cheering on America’s team. They have a shuffleboard, dart boards among other things, and a pretty modern looking Juke Box. Booze was cheap and they have a ton of fried appetizers. The good ends there though. The food was extremely sub par, and the service stunk, I think the waiter was trying her best to make her rounds but stopped to talk with almost every table every time she went by. I waited over 20 minutes for a cup of water, and ended up washing out a used glass to use. I got the burger and fries, I really wish I just went to snuffers for that. The burger was basically unseasoned, the bun was soggy from the get go, and the fries were cold. One of my buddies ordered the chicken nachos. By the time they came out they were cold and the cheese was hard, it was like one giant chip. Good place to watch a game if you don’t mind the service or the food.

Big place, great atmosphere, & an excellent bar & prices. Pokes has live music with good bands like«Rock Theory» & «Emersom Biggins». Car & motorcycle jocks are welcome.

Could be best described as a neighborhood bar with a kitchen. If you’re here to drink the beer is relatively cheap, TVs everywhere and it is loud. There are a myriad of different types of personalities here and if hungry and you don’t mind eating mediocre food in a smoke filled, dark run down place this is for you. I am not sure why it is rated 3.5 stars. Something for everyone I am guessing. Been to much better neighborhood bar and grills roaming the USA while in the military.

Some random people setting next to my girlfriend and I at TGFridays introduced us to Pokes when the Friday night crowd there was staring to get very lame. Those random people are now really good friend of ours and I’ve been back to pokes 30 or so times since.
Pokes is one of my favorite bars in Dallas. It’s not full of uptown douche-bags. There is a assortment of characters that come to this bar. Anywhere from bikers, ties, cougars, old people, young people, lesbians ext. Pokes has darts, pool, shuffleboard, some line on a hook game, beer pong and I’m sure I’m missing other games. Great Live music every Friday and Saturday with no cover. Great service and staff. The best bartender there is rusty
The owner is always on site and is extremely nice.(OSU Fan Hints The name pokes) But this is not just an OSU bar it’s an every-ones bar. Great place to watch the game big TVs everywhere. Above average food with great prices. Kitchen open late with great drunk food. Great drink prices. Great staff great staff great staff! Even when they are busy. They really bust ass at this place Don’t get me wrong I like the flying saucer, Shurlock’s and other places around north Dallas. But I just love pokes! If you live around the north Dallas, Addison area you have to try out pokes. You can go there for a couple of beers, lunch and watch football on Sunday or get smashed on Saturday night and have to call a cab home. It’s never been a bad time for me.

As my first review mentioned, I visited this place shortly after it had opened. In my review I think I may have used the term«family friendly» in my description, or may have checked that«box» as an option offered by Unilocal. Having seen more recent advertising materials issued by this establishment, I return to my original review to REMOVE one of the stars I had assigned to it. The establishment elected to utilize advertising photo & text that were designed to be «suggestive» and appeal, in my opinion, to a more«single adult male» demographic. I asked my wifes opinion and she felt it was indeed«sexist» in nature. I understand that«Sex Sells» as the advertising mantra goes, and apparently«Pokes Neighborhood Grill«is primarily intent upon recruiting single adult males to enhance the alcohol sales revenues. I had originally intended to make a second visit before writing an «update», but no longer feel inclined to go there in view of the advertising I have seen them use for promotional purposes. I would be skeptical at this point how«family friendly» their atmosphere would be for those with younger children.

We came here on a Sunday, so we were amidst a crowd of football fans. They have many large screen TVs on the walls, covering several different games. This place is a sports bar, so expect it to be loud, especially during game time! There were only a few beers on tap, maybe only 3 or 4, which were available for happy hour. Bottled beers were reasonably priced. For food, we ordered the ribs with French fries and hot wings. I wasn’t too impressed with the ribs. The sauce tasted fine, but it just seemed to be brushed on top without any flavor to the meat. The hot wings were better. We went with the Texas hot flavor, the hottest flavor available, and the sauce was incredibly tasty! It was definitely spicy and very addicting. The service was okay. I think our waitress was new because every time we asked her about something, she didn’t know and had to ask someone else. But they are a fairly new place, so I’m sure that will improve over time.

Stopped by for a drink one afternoon. It was moderately busy with TVs everywhere, blaring various sporting events. 1) Definitely a sports bar 2) Definitely smokey 3) Definitely the greatest amount of TVs in one place I’ve ever seen 4) Definitely loud 5) Definitely inexpensive brews 6) Definitely a «neighborhood» spot It’s a dark cavernous space, occupying the building where Manhatten once was on Midway, South of Beltline. Two large bar areas; the front one was closed, the back one was packed. Many four top tables, high top tables, a pool table, Shuffleboard and bar games in one separate area. We just had a couple of brews; service by Brooke was pleasant and appropriately attentive, The menu is interesting for a bar; other than the expected usuals, there are Baby Back Ribs, Fried PB&J with Bananas on the side, Fried Okra, Chicken Fried Chicken, Pasta, Pork Chops, and more. Not what is commonly served at any sports bar. We didn’t dine here on this visit. First impression: it’s okay, Might be a spot that will grow on you, but at first visit, not sure I’d rush back. Can’t cite anything specific being wrong, just didn’t feel the vibe; maybe it was the feeling of being in a large old dark warehouse. Think it just also might cater(obviously so) to real sports fans which wouldn’t get me a special place @ the bar. I can see how those folks would rate this 4 – 5 stars. Probably will check it out again if BFF decides to make another U-turn on Midway to go back. Maybe we’ll sample the food next time. We;ll see.

While this place was OK, it was certainly not 5 stars! The food was just alright, the service was just alright, and the atmosphere was just alright. 2.5 Stars is where this would sit with me. Cheap beer and lots of TVs give this place the boost to push it to 3 stars for me. It looks like the owner got alot of his friends to come on here and write reviews, as most of the 5 star reviews are the member’s first ones, and most of them know the owner by name. I hate when this happens. EDIT: Wow, looks like Unilocal came through here and took off all the phoney reviews by owner’s friends. Good job, Unilocal! That’s why I love thee!

I was glad to see a great reviews of this place when I looked them up. They only opened six weeks ago so they’re still getting all the kinks worked out and a few of the finishing touches completed but Poke’s is going to be a fun sports bar and possible one of my new haunts. Happy hour 7 days a week that during the week runs until 10pm, you can’t really beat that. I really had fun here. They have got to have close to 25TV’s in the place so everywhere you look you can see a game of some sort. My buddy and I got here somewhat early, and it seemed like they already had a few regulars at the place, so we got a chance to meet the owner Kyle. Kyle was a great guy and really took care of us. He poured his drinks heavy, always a plus, and engaged us in some good conversation. When the evening crew showed up he made sure that they new our names and that they took care of us as well. Poke’s does a great job with customer service and I can’t begin to say how important that is to me. They’ve actually got two bar stations in the place so finding a drink on your own shouldn’t be to hard. If that’s not your thing the wait staff is Johnny on the spot when you need them. They’ve got several bar games for you to enjoy as well; Golden Tee, Darts, Shuffleboard, and a pool table. FYI, it is Addison so smoking inside is allowed and they do allow Cigar smoking here.
