BUSYLITTLEBEES! Today, they were on their game. There were two young people in the store and as I walked in I was warmly greeted and offered assistance. Although I didn’t need assistance, the offer was nice and I knew that they were readily available if I had questions. During the entire time that I was in the store, they were quietly working and stocking items. Not all teens/young employees are slackers and we need to recognize this fact. This store is well stocked for its size and has a nice selection of sports related items. They have one of the nicest selections of southern themed tees for women that I have seen,(long sleeves and short). I definitely will return to purchase one as soon as I decide which one I like best. Although they had a nice selection of sneakers and sport sandals, the sandals were very limited as they were basically flip-flops. I get that flip-flops are very popular but they are not practical for all activities. I need a complete supportive sandal that will stay on while rafting and playing around. I did not see anything remotely resembling a nice walking sandal. Another problem I have been having is just trying to find a simple black sweat band,(thick cotton) with no logo. I am not trying to look cute or trendy, I want to simply be able to not have perspiration dripping into my eyes when I am working out. I have looked high and low and while I can find them in white, they don’t seem to be available in black which is so frustrating! This is not Hibbett’s fault as I have looked at various stores and run into the same problem. I would prefer not to have to purchase these on line because I like being able to feel and test their tightness. Oh well, I’ll just keep looking. If you want to avoid wading into a huge sports themed warehouse and having to wander around just trying to find what you need, give Hibbett’s a shot.

I did a good job of ruining my son’s mouthpiece the day before his first game. I called Hibbett sports and spoke with the very polite Katie. She told me they had many options and I could come in and choose which one would work best. I walked in, found the mouthguards easily, Katie came over and helped me choose the best option with cost vs necessity. She asked if I needed anything else and I left very happy. I normally do not shop at Hibbett sports, but this experience made a shopper out of me! Thank you Katie and thank you Hibbett.

Strike three! You’re out! Hibbett’s is the most conveniently located sporting goods store for me to go to, so that explains why I have had not 1, not 2, but 3 horrendous experiences here. However, with this review, I will officially sever any and all retail ties to this establishment. Amen. It is consistently manned by apathetic, rude teenagers and stocked with expensive merchandise in limited size ranges. Asking for a wide Little League cleat will elicit a shrug of the shoulders and no additional offer of help. Ditto for questions regarding batting helmets, running shoes, baseball socks, bats. .. you get the gist. The most energy I saw exerted by the staff during my Saturday visit was Slacker 1 emphatically telling Slacker 2 which burrito he wanted from Moe’s, since Slacker 2 decided it was more important to go on a burrito run than help customers in the store(note that Slacker 1 was perusing a magazine, and there WAS no Slacker 3, so we were left standing in the middle of the silent store as these two Einsteins hashed out their evening meal order.) If you are going to be 20% more expensive than the big boxes, you better have some value-added service and selection. Hibbett’s has neither. They are, however, conveniently located near Moe’s.
