From the previous reviews, this restaurant might of been a Japanese restaurant before, but when I came in early June 2016, it is now converted to a Chinese dim sum place(maybe at least in the afternoon). Came here with my cousin and my parents because my parents were craving for dim sum(they have it once a week in Toronto!!). Taste of Fortune is located beside an old prison and a government building, a very nice square with great views. The decoration of this restaurant is very clean, mainly white and somewhat modern. Dim Sum wise, they have a lot of varieties, but they are all around 45 Dannish krone per dish, and if you do the math, that’s $ 9 Canadian per dish! And you are talking about a dim sum with 4 siu mai or 4 hai gao, that is MAD expensive! Despite the price, their dim sum were very hot(made on the spot) and tasted decent, but I still don’t see how it justifies the extremely high price, hence, 3 stars only.

Went there twice with friend, if I would have choose a Chinese restaurant to go to by myself, this one definitely will NOT be my choice. First reason, the food is ok, not the best. There are other Chinese restaurants much better, and more fair with prices. Second, here come the story which makes me very disappointed at the restaurant. When last time we were there, we ordered a dish with fish, price on the menu is 169kr. While we were ordering, the waitress(also the owner of the restaurant) gave us two options of two different kinds of fishes WITHOUT telling us there are price different in them. After we had eaten, want to pay. The price went up to 269kr for that fish dish. Of cause we asked why, the reply from her is, because you choose this certain kind of fish. I found this is very unfair for customers. I think what she did, shows that she has absolutely no business ethics!

Good quality sushi, carefully prepared and with smiling service. I’m not sure what problem the previous reviewer experienced, but perhaps walking into a Chinese restaurant asking for a recommendation for another wasn’t the best way to start. The staff were certainly keen to help us order on our visit, which was a bit irritating, but we were clear what we wanted and what we got was good food, slightly on the expensive side, but only what you’d expect for the tourist centre of Copenhagen. We ate decent breaded shrimp and fish, good mixed sushi, and an excellent ‘dragon roll’ with a single enormous deep fried shrimp as the centre piece. Beef udon was nothing special. Decent gyoza. Ask for the homemade chilli sauce if you like it hot. If you’re in this part of town and want to avoid the real tourist traps, this is a good option. Total cost for 4, including half a bottle of good Alsace riesling, about 900 krone.

Randomly walked in here asking for a good Chinese hotpot place recommendation. The waitress said«this is it, you’ve found it». So we decided to give it a shot, having a dinner here tonight. Nonetheless, this night became by far the worst dinner scam I ever had in my lifetime. We had a table for 4, and as usual, we sat down pondering what to eat. However, the waitress went on to set up a meal plan for us, ordering a good amount of veggies and meats with some drinks, with which we were ok at first. Since we are a big fan of seafood, we had also ordered some(particularly 12 oysters, some fish/shrimps). Let’s leave the nasty foods aside for a moment. When we called for the bill at the very end, the waitress(whose service had been terribly sloppy and disrespectful throughout the entire night) simply handed us a paper, saying kr. 3500, which was equivalent to about $ 520USD. We then asked for the further pricing breakdown for the sake of clarification, she walked back to the register, discussing with the so-called owner. After a while, what we saw was another piece of paper, stating what we’ve had AND interestingly, what we have NOTHAD. Can your believe a piece of tofu costs us kr. 169??? These people are complete scumbags, making up all of their wishful numbers on our check. They even mentioned 4% credit card processing fee that is required across the entire country of Denmark without any basis. We were obviously very unhappy about this type of fuzzy explanation; they even said to us literally«you guys should not have come out for the dinner if you cannot afford one». We were simply stunned by what they said!!! I here strongly advise no one to even step into this damn restaurant door. This has been a complete hell of a dining experience and I feel disgusted by the way they try to cheat on their customers like this!

Stopped by for sashimi and tempura and ordered rice noodle roll like the one you get at dimsum. The rice noodle roll was good, but I wouldn’t go there again for Japanese food. It is indeed overpriced, and the quality is just not as good as nearby sushi restaurants. The sashimi was served on plastic on ice, and the tempura was not authentic. The place is run by Chinese people. I suggest you order off the Chinese menu instead. The rice noodle roll alone was very good. :)

Had lunch here today — the tempura udon souop. A bowl of noodles with a tea spoon worth of spring onions on top in a plain soy-miso Soup. With two deep fried shrimps on the side. And nothing else. Taste was fine but bland and the shrimp had a wierd taste. Hope I’m not going to be sick… They charged 109 kr. for the udon soup which is about 4 or 5 times what would be reasonable to charge for that meal. On top of that they had the guts to charge 15 kr. for a glas of tap water — no ice or lemon… At the table next to me they got instant cup noodle soup — served in the cup. On the plus side the waiter was very friendly.

I had a couple sushi rolls and edamame, all of it fresh and excellent. Comfortable, quaint setting.
