Friendly service, good quality pastries and a reasonable price point – Sankt Peder’s is my favorite place to stop for a pastry when in the neighborhood. They also offer focaccia bread with toppings, heated up and to go for a perfect quick and cheap lunch. Their pastries are always fresh, and sometimes just out of the oven. They also have a student discount!

Visiting Copenhagen for the second time, and though I’m not big into pastries, thought we’d try some before leaving. Glad we did. Two of us has had a couple of pastries and some coffee, all for around $ 10USD. You can tell that this place is family-run and they make a great Danish too. Not overly-filling and most importantly: moist and delicious. There are other larger bakeries that are recommended on travel books/shows; but chose this place because of the pics here in Unilocal.This place beats those others – hands down.

Giant cinnamon rolls on wednesdays for 15DKK are a must! They come with either sugar or icing and are much tastier fresh out of the oven(hot), but regardless a wednesday ritual.

This was close to our apartment and came highly recommended. They weren’t wrong. Pastries were aplenty and as we browsed the selection, a steady stream of locals came in and took their orders to go. We got croissants loaded with cheese. It was not the buttery kind that turned your fingers oily. They were crunchy and fresh. I could taste the cheese with every bite. It almost had that baguette feel to it. They were hands down the best croissants I’ve ever tasted. The staff was friendly, the seats were comfortable couches, but not conducive to hanging around, spending time chit-chatting with friends and relishing the pastries. Just take your order to-go.

Finally remembered to visit the Sankt Peders Bageri on a Wednesday for their delicious Onedagssneglen(cinnamon rolls — 15DKK). Boy did they not disappoint! You can smell the bakery as you bike towards it and the smells only intensified while we were inside! Thousands of rolls lined the counter and we got ours still warm and oozy in the centre. We peeled off the layers from the outside, delicious bread with either a sugar coating or powdered sugar icing. They only got more delicious as we ate our way closer to the centre. I will be back, perhaps it’s a good thing they only sell these on Wednesdays! They are big so perhaps good to share. We couldn’t help ourselves and ate one each!

Sankt Peders is love, Sankt Peders is life. While backpacking Europe, I ended up in Copenhagen a couple times and once was only for a layover for a couple hours. You know what I made sure I did during that layover? Race over to Sankt Peders and buy their pastries because they’re just THATGOOD. Honestly it doesn’t matter what you buy because LITERALLYEVERYTHINGISDELICIOUS. But if I had to pick one must get, it’d have to be those cinnamon twists(kanelstang I believe). Get there early though because they sell out! SERIOUSLYJUSTGETTHOSEANDYOURLIFEWILLBEBETTER!

So good — I would definitely go back. Everything we tried was awesome and cinnamon roll was particularly amazing!

Best pastry shop I’ve visited in Copenhagen! The cinnamon rolls with icing must be their best seller bc they are prominently displayed and first thing you notice when you walk in. I had that and the brioche looking roll with raisins. They were both delicious! The brioche with raisins didn’t taste too buttery, which was just fine. I wanted to taste the raisins and didn’t want the butter to overwhelm them. Also there was a slight hint of anise-like taste to it, not as strong as those I’ve tasted in Norway but definite hint of whatever spice was incorporated. The cinnamon roll with icing was the best I’ve had in Copenhagen. The icing may have been a bit too much as I don’t have as sweet of a tooth as most people. The pastry was moist and full of cinnamon. Last but not least, the coffee is also the best I’ve tasted in Copenhagen. Not overly strong or burnt tasting. Great medium roasted beans, just the way I like. Also of note, bc it’s not catered to the tourist crowd(located some ways off from tourist spots), the prices are reasonable! The two pastries and large coffee cost 42 dkk. A steal compared to other bakeries!

The hype is real. Onsdagssneglen is the cinnamon roll to end all cinnamon rolls. Go on a Wednesday around 10.

Hands down, best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had. I wish I could go every day, which I did while I was in Copenhagen. The woman working there was really sweet and of course spoke perfect English. Can’t recommend enough.

I have been to many bakeries in Copenhagen, and for some reason Sankt Peders is recommended to me over and over. I found the pastries okay, but not nearly as good as other bakeries here(such as Brod). The cinnamon roll that I got seemed very dry, and the other pastry I got on another occasion seemed a little bit soggy. There isn’t much room to sit. If you sit on the couch you feel like you’re up in the customer at the counter’s grill. I think this is recommended because it is close to the university, but I would recommend trying out other options, as there are a great many bakeries all over Copenhagen!

Efter jeg startede i mit nye job sidste år kun 200 meter væk fra Sankt Peders Bageri, har vi hver fredag fået boller og rundstykker herfra. Og jeg blev meget hurtigt stor fan af deres müsli boller. De har tilpas af det hele, og den helt rigtige konsistens. Lidt smør og en en skive ost og jeg kan blive helt lykkelig. Jeg ved en anden vigtig mission i bageriet i fremtiden, for jeg har nemlig også en stor hang til chokolade crossainter. I øvrigt gæt hvilken dag det er i dag… præcis — vi ses senere müsli bolle(;

Loved the cinnamon scroll with icing! Not sure if it’s the same one available on Wednesdays that everyone says are huge, but this is a very high quality bakery on a quiet street near bustling shopping streets, Tivoli, and the University of Copenhagen. Would highly recommend.

How to get here: Get off Nørreport Metro station. Walk on the side McDonald’s is, and turn left on the street where there’s a 7 – 11(if you see Netto, opposite direction). Walk straight until you get to the end of the an old brick building(watch for Sankt Peders Petri) and make a right(if you see St. Mary’s, that’s a little too far.) and look for a golden pretzel sign. Drommekage(dream cake) goes fast in the morning but it’s so delicious. Their tarts are so worth it. Try the raspberry snitter(looks like a poptart) for the experience. Chocolate and almond croissants are delicious too. Best bang for your buck are the cinnamon rolls or sugar-covered rolls(have no idea what they’re called). Pastries start at 15dkk a piece and go upwards to 22dkk for tartes and pizza slices, while sandwiches are 50ish dkk. They serve coffee and chai, though I haven’t seen anyone order them. The chai is David Rio. For some reason, ALL of Copenhagen serves David Rio’s chai. I have yet to see a masala chai or any other variety or brand. Bring and extra baggie if you’re carrying them back home, because they crush easily and the oiliness just turns the paper translucent in no time, leaving bags exposed to oil. Apparently there’s a student discount? tl;dr: great little bakery, perfect for trying Copenhagen’s traditional baked goods like drommekage, hindbaer snitter, almond croissant, full-grain loaves, and your French favorites like pain au chocolate.

Wednesday GIANT kanelsnegle(cinnamon scroll). GIANT and DELICIOUS. But a real challenge to finish! Perfect combination of cinnamon to sugar to bread — perfect excuse to positioning yourself in Copenhagen Central on a Wednesday!

This was right around the block from where I lived and I was here more times a week than I care to admit. I have a huge sweet tooth and so I tried Illums bakery, Lagkagehuset, and the ultra-hyped Conditori La Glacé(the oldest bakery in Cph) etc… and found none of it held a candle to the homemade taste of Sankt Peders Bageri. If you have a chance to go grab a: drommekage(dream cake): appropriately named, because it tastes like a buttery cloud. Think of a buttery yellow cake topped with a brown sugar and coconut topping. cinnamon rolls: they’re flaky and good with just the right amount of a light vanilla icing. Really good, but it tastes nothing like the Cinnabon kind so if that’s what you’re expecting do not get it. pop tart: ok i know this isnt the right word for it but there are always these short bread cookie sandwiches with a thin spread of raspberry jam in the middle and a light vanilla icing on top. I HATE pop tarts and I LOVE these.

probably one of the best chocolate croissants ever and they have student discounts!
