So this is my go-to restaurant in town for asian food along with their other restaurant in Vesterboro. Pretty tasty asian food when I miss it the most. Everything is great when I order take-out… Until I invited my friends to try it and sat down in the restaurant. It took SOLONG for the order to come out and I could tell another table next to us were also impatiently waiting. glaring at us when our food came first. Oops. And I would have to say the service was pretty bad. Next time I’m sticking with take-out!

Every time we went there(it is very close to Amager pool and we ended up going there quite often) the food and service varied enormously. Last time, the dish was too spicy and they told us there was a new chef(!) — a chef without palate I suppose! Honestly I do not recommend it, I don’t like inconsistency when it comes to restaurants. There are better Chinese places out in Kbv.

I’d have given it 5 stars, the food was so freaking delicious! But that guy waiter with the dumb ass haircut was the most obnoxious annoying idiot on this planet, kinda sad cause the kitchen staff are amazing, but that retard just burned the entire experience there. Excuse my French.

The waiter is like an idiot. He just ignored the existence of us but served Danes pretty well.

I had been to this place twice, and it’s quite good in general. The first time we ordered mostly non spicy dish, and it was a bit disappointing. I am from the province their food is based on, and you gonna do spicy. The second time I went for the spicy food, much better. It’s not too spicy but the flavor is great. The price is also quite good, about 150 per person with drinks. Would go again.

I’ve been twice now, and can’t say I love it as much as the Istedgade location, which quite frankly, improved my stay in Denmark immeasurably. The décor is lovely for sure, and talking to the waitress my first visit, the staff prefers this location as it gets less drunks and rude people off the street. Makes sense, given Istedgade and the other location which is across the street from the main station. Unfortunately the food is not as spicy as we asked for. I suspect a recent review from a spice-challenged Scandinavian in Cph Post didn’t help, after he warned diners off the spice, but it’s really aggravating! Only once at the older location did my food arrive spiced for Danes, but it seems I may have to email the old location and just tip them off. Anyway, the spicy duck from my first visit was delicious, and the chile peppers from my second visit were lovely. Sadly, the Ma Po Tofu was spiced for Danes, though. Please, Magasasa, don’t dumb down the dishes or assume Western visitors expect it, I for one would prefer it if you kept to your menu! There are hundreds of Chinese restaurants catering to non-Asians, please don’t join their ranks. Will have to check back and hope for the best.

Magasasa, I’m your bestest fan ever! So when this Istedgade restaurant opened another one in Amager, I had faith that it turned out to be good. At first I was rather disappointed because the décor was too nice as I have this rule of thumb that«nice» restaurant in Denmark just don’t serve good Chinese food. Ha. I was wrong. The type of food was different from the Istedgade one. One waitress explained to me that this was Hunan(? CMIIW) style food compared to the Szechuan kitchen in Istedgade. But it doesn’t matter really, the food is also great. If there’s something Magasasa Amager has to offer, is the seafood selection, better than the Istedgade one. If you want to have real Chinese food in the vicinity of the lorteøen, this is your best bet.

Hunan style food served in a modern and bright restaurant. Really sweet service where you don’t feel rushed or ignored. Bonus points to Magasasa for having a private room separate from the main room which can be reserved for larger groups. This is pretty standard practice in nice Chinese restaurants. The seafood we had(fish, squid, and shrimp) were all good. The garlic greenbeans were excellent. I can’t rave about the food since I found some of the dishes tasted too similar to each other(maybe we should have ordered more variety… not sure). But I’m really happy this place exists and I wish it was closer to me. The Hunan dishes look spicier than they are. Some dishes came covered in red chillies, and looked intimidating, but they were still manageable. The dishes that needed to be kept warm were served in steel warming dishes(the ones with a candle underneath). It was a nice attention to detail, but it did make passing the dishes around a little trickier. Fellow Unilocaler Mina raved about the fish head she ordered. I tried it, but it just wasn’t my thing… I’ll stick to eating the rest of the fish.

my friends and i have been big fans of magasasa for a while now, so we were very excited when we heard they were opening a new location on amager! even though it is a bit further away for me, i was looking forward to trying out the new menu. turns out it concentrates more on seafood, though our favourite dishes are still available here. the dishware and room look more modern than the istedgade location, and maybe a bit bigger. we were shown to a separate room, which was very nice as a group of 6; we were able to have a conversation in the busy restaurant but could still easily wave a waitress over when we needed. we ordered out classic favourites of green beans and garlic, shrimp stir fry, dumplings, and squid stir fry. the new dishes didn’t disappoint; beef in bamboo was tender and flavourful while the fish head in chilies was moreish and tender. i’ll definitely come back soon, especially to try some of the whole steamed fish and the scallops with glass noodles.
