It’s a bit pricy for the quality, but the atmosphere is worth it so make a pit-stop before hitting Kolonien

We were getting lunch and tried to find a good place next to the river. Decided to test the Fortunen. Menu was decent, with daily lunch specials and something for kids too(burgers!). Food was good, moderately priced. I would say 3/5, the small minus comes from the waiter who wasn’t really showing much attention to us. But he got us the food at the end :) The terrace has decent view to the river. Daytime, kids are welcome, but I felt in the evening this would be more the place for adults to enjoy.

Their prawns are DELICIOUS! If you can’t find them on the menu… look for«Gambas» — a must have. 5 stars! The rest of the food is 4 stars — their portions are WAYTOOO small — that kind of sucks — but the service is friendly and the taste is wonderful. Suggestion: Order the Gambas Order a side dish Order the chicken Order their hanger steak Order a dessert Drink their cheapest wine Price 350DKK. And you’re in wonderland. Peace out.

this place is in an area that i am not in often, but i was pleasantly surprised. i got to try each of the sliders and they were all delicious, especially the soft-shelled crab! it was so good. i could just order a whole plate of that, sans buns. another great item on the menu was the eggs… it’s been a while since i’ve had deviled eggs, but never pickled! the sourness went perfectly with the creamy yolk. lastly, the waitresses and the owner were polite and easy to get a hold of. the only reason i’m docking a star is because of the slightly high prices and, as antesa j. has mentioned, the mixed drinks should be avoided… i got an old fashioned that burned all the way down. but my beer enthusiast +1 approved the dark ale on tap.

Resting on the laurels… I dined at Fortunen last night. I had been looking forward to this experience, because i had heard good things about the place. But sadly I left full of disappointment. The food did did not live up to the price, and the service was awkward. It wasnt a busy night, so there is really no excuse for the cold starters or the 30 min wait for the main course

Did anybody ever think that someone might eventually find a way to bring Spain to chilly little Denmark? We all know the Danes have an inexplicable(okay maybe a little explicable) fascination with all things latin. They love spice(though it does not always love them), they love their beaches(and visit them often), and they are major fans of their tapas(seriously though, who isn’t?). So I suppose it should come as no surprise that the newest restaurant on Copenhagen’s food scene involves Danish Tapas, right?(FYI: other than the concept of a tapas menu, there is absolutely nothing else even remotely Spanish about this bar.) It also involves hipsters, which I will admit would annoy me if this was a bar in Brooklyn(there are enough hipster bars there already), but since there are no hipsters to be seen in CPH beyond the front door of Fortunen(and its close relatives, see below=, there is something magically refreshing about this bar/restaurant’s intellectual complexity. Fortunen is a little brother to Dyrehaven on Sønder Blvd, and Bakken in Kødbyen. The head chef, Martin Steen-Bentzen, comes from Fiskebaren, also in Kødbyen. I guess Vesterbro is attempting to spread its wings to an otherwise unlucky corner in Indre Byen, and so far it seems they’re doing quite well. The scene is international, the drinks are potent(they don’t have cocktail shakers, so stick with their basic offerings or a bottle of table wine), and their pork belly sliders are to die for. Grab a game of Uno, Chess, or Backgammon, and get cozy in a booth for a whole evening. Pro-tip: on those rare Danish Summer days where you think you might die if you have to spend more than 30 seconds indoors, they have plentiful outdoor seating.
