Don’t go in expecting a high-end restaurant dinner. The price is right for what you get, but it’s hard not to expect more from a restaurant inside the Royal Opera. All the wine(both white and red) was poured at the same time, which was the first warning sign. Then all 5 courses were served at the same time. Really not something you would expect from a restaurant — which just goes to say: this place isn’t a high-end restaurant. That’s not really their fault, it’s rather a problem with my expectations. The prices are actually decent when considering you get a 5 or 7 course dinner, it’s just that the Opera itself is so majestic and marvellous that you can’t help having similar expectations of the food and service at the restaurant. Several of the dishes were simply not good and nowhere near being delicious or tasty. For example a ball of rabbit meat was an interesting take on rabbit, but so bland it had about the same taste as a can of tuna from the supermarket. We did have a very good slice of veal with beets and berries. But that was about the only positive thing in the meal. One of the dishes was a piece of kale was way too salty and almost too tough to cut with knife at the table. If you want a fancy night out at the opera, I would suggest going somewhere else than here. If you just want a nice dinner at the opera — this is the place — just don’t expect too much.
