UWinnipeg Downtown Hostel

I am writing this review during my third night here. It is a good place and a good value if you would like an efficiency apartment in a secure building all to yourself. Details of the many amenities can be found at the hostel’s web site:
. The staff has been friendly and professional and the place is very clean. Compared to other hotel rooms, it is in the cleanest 1%. Part of that is just good design, like having bare floors instead of carpeting. But most of it is from a great cleaning crew who must pride themselves in leaving the place spotless.
At $ 97CAD Spring 2015) it is well priced. It comes with TV, microwave, a big fridge, dishes, a double bed, an electric tea kettle and a coffee maker: not a Keurig, thank goodness, and a small armoire, and free Wi-​Fi
Some things however are conspicuously missing, such as dish soap, clothes hangers, and reading lamps. So, that would be my suggestion for the management: provide coat hangers, dish soap, and install some reading lamps by the bed and by the couch and on the desk in the kitchen. Also, you will save some money if you replace the fridge with a smaller, more energy-​efficient, and one hopes quieter model. Some coat hooks by the door would be convenient too.
So, for now, guests listen up: bring clothes hangers (I asked, they do not provide them, but will tell you where you can buy them for your stay); pack a reading lamp. And some comfy slippers will soften up the bare floor.
All in all, I would stay here again.
