Just went for a study session. Internet was not working and no one could help me. They wouldn’t even come out from behind the counter. I had already purchased a tea and snack so I asked for a refund since I needed internet and would have to leave. They said they didn’t know how. Don’t recommend going here if you need Internet! Won’t be going back again. Should have stuck with blenz.

Terrible Americano. They call it a «Canadiano», putting Canada and Canadians to shame. I had the barista make me another one, because the one he placed on the counter just looked like a limp cup of drip coffee. The second cup looked more like an Americano, but after a few sips, it had to be thrown out. Lifeless. My cohost calls it «rat shit», but he’s better with words than I am:

I Went there just to have a coffee, talk and relax with my friend, bought a coffee and sat on a table with my friend, when a guy came asking us to change our sits because of some conversation club which is not a problem. The problem was the extremely rude way that the man talked to us although he didn’t work there and we didn’t know about the event, we changed our places but felt really uncomfortable with that situation. Just finished my coffee asap and left the place. I Just wanted to have a coffee but it was such a bad impression about the coffee shop because of that unbearable person.

The place is great to hang out and relax. A big space with lots of outlets. A couple of friends and I hung out for a while. The staff was courteous and pleasant.

They have a $ 2 latte promo right now! $ 0.60 for a flavour shot. They have a pumpkin pie latte that is not at all similar to the PSL from Starbucks. Less sweet and more espresso flavour. Like that they have lemon loaf w/o poppy seeds but they were all gone by the time I made it in. :(

Wish I could give 0 stars. I came in here attempting to try out one of their Belgium white mochas. I came to the cash register and after waiting for about 4 minutes, the cashier finally came out of hiding to take my order. She was abrupt and cold, did not attempt to make any eye contact or even give me a half smile. But what I deemed as most annoying was that right in the middle of our transaction, her coworker who must’ve also had been in hiding, came to the cash register and said something in korean to her. Instead of telling her coworker to wait until after she’s done my order to talk, she decided to have respond by having a full on korean conversation for 5 minutes in front of me, in the middle of our transaction even though I still haven’t fully finished telling her what I wanted to order. I do not understand korean but either way I found it to be really rude. After she was finally done talking to her, the cashier returned to me and completely forgotten what I had told her of I wanted before so I told her again. Again, she was cold and abrupt, a strange contrast to how animated and bubbly she was speaking korean to her friend. Afterwards, she gave me the wrong change and didn’t even apologize! I waited 10 minutes for my drinks to be made because apparently I have to wait for the cashiers to take the orders from people behind me before my drinks can be made. I have no idea where the other korean speaking staff went so I asked the cashier, she told me she was on her break. If there is a line up behind me waiting to get their orders taken and a handful of people who’s paid and are waiting for their drinks, shouldn’t there be at least two people working at all times, three people with one on their break? I overheard another customer complaining about the same thing, I think we should agree this place needs better management and better staff. Food is just alright, wasn’t worth the money and long interruptions/wait though

I would give 0 stars if that was possible. I stood at the register waiting to order a hot chocolate for a good 5 minutes without seeing a single staff member. As the line grew I saw that there was someone sitting in the back — so I knocked on the door. I asked if there was someone working and he told me that he was on a break… annoyed that I was disturbing him. I took that as a cue that I should take my business elsewhere, so I did.

One of the quieter Waves in DT, since not many other places for ppl to drop by nor is parking good here during rush hour. But it’s free WIFI, w/shaw open, so that works. Nice lounge with TV and fake fireplace lol. as typical usual pre-made sandwiches, baked good, & pastries.

Very poor customer service!!! The food was not fresh, so they tried to put it in the micro to freshen it up… when I complained she did not have the English skills to understand and fix the problem… why was she hired then???

Waves… this location is in my opinion exactly what you would expect a downtown chain coffee place to be. Drinks are just decent, reasonably priced and the whole place is you guessed it BORING… lol. Currently my closest option for workday coffee so I’m here more than I would be otherwise. There’s ample seating and a conference room in the back. I’ll go, until I find something better/closer.

When I think of coffee chain, I think Starbucks. While I’m not a loyal Starbucks person, where I worked in Palo Alto there was one a block away… so I was more or less forced to be a ‘Bucky drinker. I didn’t go to the local coffee shop(Printers) because of the bad service I’ve had there. I was fully expecting this to be like Starbucks, just different colored logos, etc. I ordered a large iced mocha… and was asked, «What kind of chocolate would you like? Milk, white or dark chocolate?» Me: *confused that I was given a choice* I’ll try dark? A few moments later I heard some banging and I looked around the corner… she was smashing parts of a dark chocolate bar off to PUTINMYCOFFEE. I was a bit doubtful because I was worried I’d be choking on chocolate bits… no. The hot coffee poured on top melted the chocolate chunks to tiny pieces that were not obnoxious. I was most surprised at how tasty the coffee was… I will be going back there very soon. Desserts left a bit to be desired, but I was really there for the coffee.

Love this place. Okay, it’s Waves so I’ll have to get over the fact that they have average coffee, uninviting décor and very mediocre food. BUT this location is definitely my favourite. The staff is awesome here(this location is family owned and operated) and it shows! I always feel welcome and it’s in a great location with lots of natural light.

I had to come here to kill some time because I had an appointment at a nearby bank. The coffee was quite good and the service wasn’t too bad. It’s quite typical of what to expect from a chain like Waves. I like that they offer free WiFi and they serve coffee in mugs for customers who wish to enjoy their coffee at the location.

This is my 2nd time at this Waves Coffee House. The first time, I didn’t care for their coffee, and then this time I ordered a Soy Matcha Tea Latte, and I love the fact that it was unsweetened! It tasted quite nice, and I was happily seated in a comfortable armchair next to a fireplace. I noticed that this Coffee House has two«boardrooms» so to speak, and I actually found that to be quite a great idea for people meeting for projects etc. I stayed there for the better part of the late afternoon, working on a few things, and found it relaxing, until I realized it was 530pm and it was like a giant wave of people flooded the place, and what seemed like a large conversational meetup. It was okay because I was leaving anyhow, but I was overwhelmed at how many people were there, and also, how it didn’t seem to be too crowded still. I guess the daytime is a better bet if you need some concentration, and peace to do some work. It served well as my «office» when I needed one.

The service here is bizarre. There are three people working although one girl looks as though she is just wandering around aimlessly. I made my order, small non fat latte, was asked if it was for here or to go, they took my payment and then I was virtually forgotten. And so was the lady in front of me. It’s not even busy in here at the moment. I admit I am a Starbucks loyalist and don’t like coming to other coffee houses and this just solidifies my thoughts. I’ve worked in coffee houses before as well and the level of service just ins’t to par for paying over 3 bucks for a small latte. If I were you I would head to Starbucks that is up the street on Robson. I’m not coming back here.

Yet another coffee shop that pours more foam than milk! Why? I’m paying for 16oz of liquid, not 10 of liquid and 6 of foam. The sizes at Waves are also smaller than you’d think(if you get a drink to stay in) so if you get a flavour syrup that smaller pour will be substantially sweeter with the number of syrup pumps that go in. I’d stick to the take out cups too since they actually seem to be the right liquid measurement — the stay in mugs are too small. Not conducive to getting your money’s worth. The music is spot on though, great 80s tunes! Fabulous! The meeting rooms are also a bonus at this location in case you need to sit down with a group. They do charge for the rooms but the price is minimal and it covers drinks or goodies purchased.

Feels like starbuck but it’s not ha! I don’t drink coffee so can’t tell you if it’s better than others but I like it and this is my review! Great and friendly service and free wifi but that’s typical.
