Tru-Valu Optical

The service was awesome. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products. I was asked about my particular eyewear needs and they went through all my options to come up with a solution unique to me. The store had a great selection of frames and the only one I could find that offers what others could not and for a reasonable price. Thanks again

Poor selection and very poor quality frames and lenses.
I usually shop next door at On Time Optical (higher quality in many regards and I have never had issues with them) but I was short on money and couldn’t afford much this year. I mistakenly bought a pair here and the nose pads fell off when i was removing my sweater. They let me change the frames to another pair but when they did this, the lenses did not fit properly in the new frames. There were gaps between the frames and the lens which they told me was «normal» and it was supposed to be like this. It was a total waste of my time and money.
I would never shop here again and I would never recommend this store to anyone. :(

I’ve never had an eye exam here, but the staff were very friendly and helpful when picking out glasses. Helped me find a pair that suited my face shape and since I can barely see without glasses, they have a machine that takes a picture of you with the frames on so you can look while wearing your current glasses and see what you actually look like.

When I went to redeem my Groupon during my lunch hour (eye exam), I wanted to get my RX and come back to pick out my glasses. They advised me AFTER my exam that I needed to pick out my glasses same day, did I forget to mention that all the frames have NO prices on their no name brand frames. How it works is when you pick your frame out to the sales clerk they verbally advise you of that frame’s price. if I wanted to walk out withmy RX I needed to pay an additional $ 85 for the exam and when I returned to buy my glasses the $ 85 would be credited towards my new glasses. I felt completed scammed. I spoke to the owner who approached me when he overheard my displeasure with the sales clerk telling me of the $ 85 charge to walk out with my eye glass prescription. The owner then proceeded to advise me they can’t afford to pay their optometrist if they have Groupon customers utilize the $ 59 Groupon. Remember Tru-​Valu Optical participated in the Groupon program which stated «One full eye exam and $ 200 Groupon towards a complete set of eyewear».
I was completely dumbfounded that they would perform such a business practice. I reminded the owner that in exchange for participating in a Groupon promotion they receive many ‘new’ customers who would otherwise shop some where else, not to mention all the others who may never utilize the purchased Groupon.
I paid the $ 85 for the luxury of walking out with my prescription and will never walk in Tru-​Valu Optical. There is no truth or value in Tru-​Val Optical and I will share my story with anyone and everyone who will listen, wears glasses or contacts.
I contact Groupon and they happily and refunded my $ 59 Groupon

Tru-​Valu is gonna save you SO much that they even skimped on vowels.
I don’t know, I have a hard time giving this place *any* stars. I mean, it’s not that good. The selection: not that good. The service: not that good. The eye exam: nope, not… not really that good.
Looking for a slightly out-​of-​date, but could potentially be cool if you are a suburban-​scrap-​booking-​church-​going-​mother-​of-​none-​stuck-​in-​the-​middle-​of-​a-​wes-​anderson-​film kind of person set of frames? Wondering where the D-​list sales characters from your favourite gad-​awful cult classic went to retire? Want to see some painted footprints going up to a business’ entrance? (wait, whaa? Yes.)
I know of *just* the place.
For real though, I don’t see much «Valu» (look, see what I did just there?) in this optical, BUT I will let you in on a secret: DEADSTOCK FRAMES.

Loved this place. Thought the Dr. was fabulous, very thorough and educated on the latest techniques and tools. And I found a great pair of glasses. Best of all I was in and out in under and hour.

Great prices, good selection, and helpful staff. Getting eye exams here is awkward and disappointing, however, and not recommended.
