No stars. My lady and I got food poisoning from the kale salad. We are still on the couch at the moment being up all night with liquid coming out of everywhere. Ambiance of a pub, something not right about the salad. I do not recommend this pub. Stay clear.

We had a family birthday in the back room. The staff was great not uptight let us wander around. The food is good solid pub food. Lover the roasted Brussels sprouts.

This pub has it all, and more. Warm, comfortable décor? Check. Friendly, knowledgeable servers? Check. Ample beer selection? Check. Really good pub food? Definitely check. I ordered a local Vancouver IPA, and the chicken pot pie. Both came highly recommended by a friend. Best pot pie I’ve had. Really good. Flaky, buttery crust coupled with a delicious gravy left me wanting another one. Can’t think of another pub I’d go to in the area. This one hits all the right spots. My one qualm was the noise level. It was a bit too loud inside. Oh well. It’s a pub after all.

Live music you can dance, sing along, or just chill to it Thursday, Friday, Saturday night. Everyone is friendly in this Pub. And the seats are comfortable! Go for the couch.

The only reason I am giving this a two instead of a one is it is a very pleasant interior – just feels like a laid back pub. So go if you want a beer. We just came back from dinner. I had shepherd’s pie. It was dreadful– a big sizzling pan of mashed potatoes with a very thin bottom layer of greasy meat. I couldn’t eat it and sent it back. The waitress asked me if I wanted anything else, brought me the menu, and then didn’t show up till my friend was pretty much finished. He had fish and chips, the chips were ok, and the fish was a thick over done batter, more like a crust than the way fish and chips batter should be. When he went to pay the bill they still wanted to charge us for the shepherd’s pie. That is pretty pathetic.

This place is the best pub in Vancouver. If you want to go were the staff are exceptionally friendly and you want to go to place that has a home feeling. It is place that is wonderful for all situations(a family gathering, hanging out with friends or even going alone).

Came for a desperate late night dinner and was enchanted. What a wonderful space. We had the Tuesday burger and beer deal and it was delicious. Great fries, yummy burger, came with one of my fave beers, Blue Buck — I couldn’t ask for more! If it was close to where I live, I would be here all the time.

The wolf and hound has been a part of our Vancouver lives for 7+ years. The wait staff are super friendly and always remember us. They’ve hosted our birthdays, graduations and they unknowingly hosted our clandestine wedding reception. They have a good selection of local craft beers on tap to satisfy the beer connoisseur in you, and when they have live music you can count on some wild dancing taking place late into the night. Roll in on a Sunday morning for a great brunch, followed by the best late afternoon sun anywhere on Broadway. The low buildings across the street mean the patio keeps natural light longer than expected. The food is slightly better than standard Irish pub fare, with the barnyard burger being the standout.

Nice place, plenty of seating and nice décor. The beer is reasonably priced and really good deal on the fries, for the price they give you plenty. Good chill pub to hit up

Earns a special place in my heart for being my go-to neighbourhood watering hole. It is a total non-pretentious, just go in for a pint or two, get food if you feel like it, type of place. Why I love it: –Comfortable atmosphere — Lots of space between tables, so you’ll never feel crowded — You can come here with almost any size group, anytime. Our soccer team would always get beer here after games– 10 people? No problem! It is the perfect place to have a moving away party or birthday party, and all of your friends can drop in and stay for as long as they want. We’ve also hosted a few pub nights for members of our organization, and they are *great* about accommodating that. — Usually, there are some open tables since it’s a big place, so you never feel worried about hanging without continuing to order lots of drinks. –They don’t have any annoying, top 40, shit music blaring. This is an environment that fosters good conversation with friends. When they do have«loud music» it is on their live music nights; superb musicians play here! –The food I’ve had there is always consistently good. It’s hearty pub fare; comfort food. It won’t blow your mind, but they do a good job. Their side salads have always been very nice though, and more intricate than what you’d expect.

I love the look and feel of the pub, we went for Sunday brunch so it was quiet at that point but it looks like it could get rowdier at night. We had food and it was ok, nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either just standard pub fare. But for just a drink I’d recommend it, they have a good beer selection and the staff were friendly.

Came in for brunch and it was really disposing. The server was fast efficient and nice. However the food was bad at best. I didn’t realize scrambled eats could be messed up, I could not finish them. The hash browns were so crispy I couldn’t use my fork and the toast was as dry as dirt. Washing it all down with orange juice that was more like water with orange coloring. Server great, kitchen cooks lack luster.

Came with our team after a game on a Monday night to take advantage of the half price wings and dry ribs. We were seated quickly though we had a group of 14. Service was fast and quick and we were made to feel at home. I had the Phillips Natural Soda — Intergalactic Ginger Ale, which was very refreshing and is a good choice if you are looking for a non-alcoholic option. The dry ribs were good, but the wings were dry and shrunken. The meat was barely there and their Teriyaki sauce left much to be desired. The spinach salad was very nice with a good amount of dressing with tasty candies walnuts. It’s a great place to grab a drink but could use some work on the food. Though at half price, maybe you are getting for what you pay for?

I tried the Wolf and Hound my first week in Vancouver. Myself and my friend could not decide on Thai or Pub food, but since we were both craving a beer we figured a Pub was the best bet. With my English back ground and affinity for beer, I am usually very critical when it comes to pub. Far too often they are run by posers who own fryers. To me there are two kinds of people, the English and everyone else who wishes they were English. That is, aside from poor dental hygiene. But hey, we’re all biased. We ordered a jug of the Red Truck Ale to split and two orders of fish n’ chips. I have to admit the place was very authentic for a English Pub. The décor and paraphernalia were perfect. Not at all tacky. Kudos. The meal size was quite large. I actually couldn’t finish it. Shocker! Their fries were really good and the fish came with homemade tartar sauce– a MUST! Kudos again. Sadly I felt that the fish was over cooked, had too much batter and were very greasy. In fact, I had a tummy ache later. This hasn’t put me off, I am definitely open to going again. I worked in a pub for years and I know it takes as little as a minute to over cook fish. I will say that the staff were very pleasant, it had a great relaxing atmosphere but unfortunately no patio. Give it a try anyway. I’m pretty confident the over cooked fish was a one off.

Atmosphere/Location: Looking for a British pub? Then look no further! This place is as authentic as they come. True, it has its fair share of Guinness advertisements that add to the kitschy feel of the place, but what makes it authentic is that it’s a place where you will find people of all ages all drinking and celebrating life together. On(Fridays?) there’s live music and people from around the neighborhood will bring their kids in to dance. At the next table, a few kids from UBC will be sharing a pitcher of beer, and sitting behind them will be an elderly couple enjoying the music. It’s a fun, happy environment and you should stop by to check it out one of these days! Great place for a big group of friends to meet up as the place never seems to be short on tables and comfy seating. Food/Drink: Food is pretty standard and a bit expensive if what you’re getting isn’t on the daily special. Beer is the same story though a bit of a better deal, try to find out what’s on special, but avoid the Lynch Lager because it’s no good. They serve some Driftwood and other craft beers at liquor store prices, so I’d recommend going for them; best value you will find drink wise. Service: Always nice and willing to deal with large parties, they are also flexible iand helpful in setting up strange seating arrangements. Recommendations: Craft Beers, Special Beers, Savory French Toast(Brunch Special!), French Onion Soup. This is my go-to spot for any sort of sporting event.

I had a really good time here last night and ate a lot of damn food. I got an Irish Stout beer and it was pretty intense smokey and it was great. I go to the Alibi Room to get beer like that, so it’s nice to know I have more options. I split a pulled pork poutine with my guest and it was massive. and taaaaaaaaasty. We actually destroyed it. Then I ordered a BBQ chicken burger with a caesar salad and destroyed that too. The live music at 9pm was a lot of fun. Some good Irish tunes, some Irish twists on American songs. People were dancing and clapping and the atmosphere was chill. It wasn’t uncomfortably packed, in fact it wasn’t packed at all. Score. Only not 5 stars because our waitress was a little bit inattentive. It may have been partially our fault, because we said we’d wait to order food again after the poutine. I was ready long before it was actually ordered, but the food came out super quick once it was put in anyway. I wish it wasn’t in Kits because I don’t transit and I wouldn’t be able to drive here unless I didn’t want to have a beer… fuck that.

Nice place. Kind of noisy but a friendly gathering hole where things aren’t ever anything but jolly. Scotch is available and pricy($ 19 for a double Talisker 15?) but whatever. The beer is very reasonably priced and I approve of that. When there was a spill, the servers rushed over with towels immediately even though the place was hopping on a Friday night. We got there at 7 and left at 11:30. They didn’t even hint once at us leaving. That is good considerate service. I like this place, though I’m not really a bar person. I ate before coming here but some of my friends had burgers and fries which looked nice — fresh, warm and not too oily. They have great live music too. A band with a blind fiddler was playing Irish tunes perfectly and it matched the liveliness of the joint. Superb!

Basic neighborhood pub. Nothing terribly fancy and nothing terribly bad. Just a basic pub, with an Irish theme. Came here on a Monday evening — yeah, I really know how to start my week off! =D It was kind of quiet when I was here. Not much of a wine list, since this is an Irish pub. They do have the standard Guinness beer as well as Magners Irish cider. When I walk by on the weekends, I do see a lot of students since it’s close to UBC. They have daily specials that are on a chalk board at the entrance. Didn’t try the food but maybe one day I’ll venture to try it out. It has a bit of a UK spin on it, bangers and mash, fish and chips, etc.

The Wolf & Hound is a great little neighborhood pub that you can go to with a group of friends for a fun night, bring a family member to have a bite to eat, or go to watch a sporting event. It’s a catch all pub — a place that is cozy, but also a place that you can let loose a bit. The Wolf and Hound is located one block East of the main intersection of Broadway and Alma. When you first enter, you’ll see plenty of different tables, chairs and comfy couches to sit on around the pub, all being lit by a variety of different vintage looking light fixtures. It has the feeling and look of an Irish pub, but has enough of its own touches to make it feel almost like someone’s home. To me, this makes it both welcoming and casual. The Wolf and Hound offers your standard Irish pub fare food such as burgers, sandwiches, pot pies, fish and chips, stews and more. All are reasonably priced with nothing costing more than $ 16 on the entire menu. Most appetizers cost in the $ 9 area, and most meals will run you around $ 12. The food has always been good when I’ve gone, with no complaints. I would recommend you try the bucket o’ rings and/or the shepard’s pie. To add to things all 7 days of the week the Wolf and Hound has food and/or drink specials which are usually something worthwhile to take note of. As would be expected, the Wolf and Hound offers the standard variety of Irish beers of Harp, Guinness and Killkenny for $ 7.50 for a 20 oz pint. However, what I also appreciate is that they have 6 or 7 local microbrews on tap(such as Phillips, Storm Brewing, and Russell) for $ 6.25 and several different bottles types. So, you should be able to find a beer that will suit your taste. The Wolf and Hound is a great setting with casual atmosphere, tasty food and good drink. If you’re in the area, definitely stop on by and have a pint!

As a graduate student at UBC, I’ve made my way to this pub a few times already. It’s really close to campus(W Broadway and Alma Street), and it’s full of really comfy couches. The crowd is a huge mix of people, ranging from students to professors to families. They have a great selection of beers, and the prices are reasonable! I really enjoy the nachos here, but make sure to ask for extra salsa and sour cream. Otherwise you’ll run out really early. The other appetizers are great too. The service is iffy at best, but you come here for the relaxed vibe. I’m looking forward to coming here many more times in the future.
