We had the vegan moussaka & calamari. Both of them tasted real good. Nice ambience /service. Enjoyed.

The other weeknight I caught up with an old friend at The Greek by Anatoli. A Google search of new restaurants led us to this place. A relatively new Greek restaurant in Yaletown? Sure, why not? Started falling in love with the place as soon as I walked in. The place was clean and contemporary, with the perfect mid-week hang-out vibe. Our waitress was super friendly and explained the menu to us(Mezze style, or shared dishes) and even offered to help us decide if our current dish choices would be enough to feed our party. With her suggestions, my friend and I tried the Haloumi Caprese, Octopothi(yes, Octopus), and Kreatopita(a meat pie wrapped up sausage-like). Each dish was absolutely mouthwatering and delicious, and they checked up on us multiple times to ensure the food suited us. Perhaps the only minor snag(on my part) was not getting the name of our waitress so I can’t give her a shout-out here. Will go back!

I’ve been here a handful of times and each time have been super impressed. However, I ordered delivery from the restaurant through DoorDash and was severely disappointed — definitely a big mistake. I ordered the $ 16 octopus dish and received 6 pieces of octopus, which was to be accompanied by roasted potatoes — a total of three tiny potato pieces came along with this dish. I received more olives in this entrée than any of the other items. For the price I paid for this meal, it was a true disappointment. Definitely better Greek places that deliver and don’t cheap out on the portion sizes. Also, the Greek salad showed up very, very wet — & I can’t get over the spiralized cucumbers, but the feta pieces — no complaints ! Anyways, a great sit down restaurant, with a good evening vibe and atmosphere, but a definite let down in regards to delivery and take out.

We wanted to try something new so we went here. Their drinks were oddly titled and described but were amazing. I had the sangria and this drink that featured a red pepper as a garnish. All of the food is ordered tapas style meaning no sides so everything is good to share. The service was great and the experience was great

Excellent!!! I was craving Greek food last night and had forgot about hearing about this place opening. I had been to their North Van location before, but living downtown, I wanted some really good Greek food that was close to where I live. I went solo and sat at the bar. It was very busy, but there was one seat at the bar between 2 groups of people. I started with a white wine. Bartenders were very friendly. I ordered tzatziki with pita, small Greek salad and 1 piece of spanakopita. Everything was super tasty and fresh. I will definately be going back to try some other dishes(that people around me were having…)

I found this restaurant in passing and so glad that I did! The food was absolutely terrific! The service was also outstanding. The manager was always nearby and came to check on us to make sure we were pleased. I loved the ambience. It’s a great place for dinner or just a happy hour with apps. I would highly recommend to others!

Great Greek food in Yaletown! We really enjoyed our recent meal here! The portions are smaller compared to most Greek places and it’s served tapas style. We shared the mussels, souvlaki and the kreatopita. The first 2 options were pretty standard and decent… I really liked the mussels broth and fresh. The highlight for us was the kreatopita — super unique! It was basically a fancy sausage roll, but much better! The wrap was a spanakopita type/phyllo pastry which was light and crunchy, and the meat filling was delicious! Totally recommend this one to share. (For those with small children, it’s really loud — my toddler kept covering his ears. Also, bring your own chair since they only have one for kids).

The best Greek food in Vancouver, hands down. Outstanding lamp chops, amazing Greek salad with some of the best feta cheese I’ve ever had. The taramosalata is out of this world. There isn’t a bad thing on this menu. Alexi and his family are some of the most genuine, friendly and gracious restauranteurs in the city. Always looking forward to our next visit!

So happy with our decision to give this place a try. We went on a Thursday evening, so they did accept our reservation ahead of time. As soon as we walked to the door the gentleman by the door greeted us, was very warm and friendly. We asked to be seated outside as it was a nice sunny breezy day. I love the patio! The service, the food, ESPECIALLY those lemon potatoes, and the overall vibe was amazing. We’re not really for desert usually, but we had to try the chocolate mousse which was absolutely delicious! I can’t wait for summer time to come back again & sit in the patio again :)

The place is located close to Yaletown station. We went for dinner and the place was packed so we had to sit in the patio which was not bad because the weather was nice and it’s a nice patio. We ordered souvlaki platter for 2~4 ppl, pita bread, humous and chocolate mousse. The souvlaki platter portion was more for 2 ppl I would say. I loved all the things we ordered except for the chocolate mousse because we thought it might be more like an ice cream but it was more like whipped cream. It is supposed to be a mousse so it was our fault for not seeing the food’s name. I would definitely go back again for the souvlaki platter which was delicious and I would love to try the rabbit plates which seem very interesting:)

A few things made us hesitant about coming here for dinner over the weekend. First, we called to see if they would accept reservations(they don’t after 7pm), and the call wasn’t met with much warmth(she hung up on us). No reservations? No big deal. We decided to test our luck as walk-ins and when we arrived we saw that there was a line-up of 3 other parties before us. We felt a bit snubbed by the hostess and guy at the front of the house when he saw some of his buddies behind us and quickly ushered them in before us. Luckily, the 3 parties before us and ourselves were seated relatively quickly as the line-up was just due to slow host services and not because of the lack of tables. That’s when everything turned around quickly and the experience was nothing but positive. First, let’s talk about the food: 1. Dothmathes(grape vine leaves stuffed with beef and rice) 2. Spanakopita(spinach, feta and herbs wrapped in filo) 3. Kouneli Styfado(braised rabbit with orzo, cherry tomatoes and zucchini) 4. Moussaka(eggplant, zucchini, meat lasagna with béchamel sauce) I am giving everything we tried FIVE stars. Flavours, portions, and value were all there. I have to commend our server Kat who was absolutely AMAZING! There was a little hiccup and she forgot to put in the rabbit to the kitchen so there was a little bit of a wait for that dish. She acknowledged the mistake and even treated us to some free ice cream to make up for it. It was definitely appreciated! I’m willing to put the not-so-good front of the house service aside because the actual dining experience was so excellent. But please, please, make a better first impression the next time!

Great food and great service! The Greek is running on all 8 cylinders. We sampled the Souvlaki Platter(chicken) very nice portion and an assortment of potatoes, golden beet, carrots, mushrooms and rice. Saganaki with pita was delicious, full of flavor. Finally the Greek Salad, made traditionally with small blocks of feta. This was our first visit and won’t be our last. They’ve found the sweet spot for portions and price. I see it as a rival to Stephos in that regard but they are also a step above in ambiance. Service was prompt, courteous and professional! Definitely recommended!

Came up for the weekend from Seattle with my best friends from college. Literally on the drive up we were talking about food and how I don’t like Greek food. We ended up coming to The Greek from a recommendation from our AirBnb host. And I wasn’t excited but my friends were stoked. We went got the meatballs, the rabbit, and Greek salad. To drink I had the Papau for the first round and Sangria for the next several rounds. Bartender told me Papau means Grandpa in Greek. Honestly the drink is weird. But not undrinkable. It was a very sophisticated taste that I wasn’t expecting — maybe I’ll enjoy in 10 years. :) but the Sangria is amazing. Best sangria I’ve ever had. The food was also amazing. It’s all family style and we were glad to have all shared because all the dishes were amazing. Restaurant has really good vibes — from the food, the families eating, the staff, the music! And just everything. We ended up staying for several hours which was encouraged by the owner, who we had the pleasure of sitting with and learning about why he opened the restaurant. First Unilocal review in a long time — but def worth a visit! I’ll be going back when I go back to Vancouver.

Tonight was my first time here — SO good! Even though we had to wait awhile to get a table, the staff was kind enough to give us humus and pita to snack. When we got to the table, our server immediately took care of us and we ordered right away. We had the calamari, moussaka and kreatopita — everything was served hot and delicious. Great staff and amazing Greek. Definitely will return!

Not a bad place to eat, the food is well prepared and the lamb shoulder dish that comes In a tray with vegetable and potatoes is very good. Place seemed to be buzzing when I went on Sunday evening, we had a large group and they handled it fairly well. One of the male members of staff was a little obnoxious, seemed to be buzzing around a lot and when he bought your food he would yell«who ordered lamb» «who ordered calamari» — super annoying and in your face. Other than that, good food, nice vibe with good personality and I like the open kitchen concept.

We tried to go in a different restaurant in Yaletown but it was fully booked. We were searching for a different restaurant when we passed in front of The Greek and we thought it was really charming. We got a table right away. The service was great and the food as well. We split the calamari and the mossaka for two. The portions are made for sharing. Everything was delicious and we are definitely going back.

I just got take out from here(technically, my coworker picked it up for me), the meatball dish. Surprised that the bag didn’t include napkin or fork/knife. So, since the reason I couldn’t go get food was cuz I had a conference call, I wasn’t able to eat the dish until after the call was over because I had to go look for utensils. I was starving, and the food was getting cold. Meh. Overall, it was not bad. But kinda expensive for what you get, especially as a take out box. I may have had better experience if I was there, but I guess I won’t find out until another time.

The lamb is very good. Perfectly braised it melted in my mouth and the flavor was incredible. I’ve never had lamb that has tasted so good. The lemon potatoes that accompanied my lamb was crisp on the outside and sweet on the inside. If you’re hungry, order the above combination. The octopus was delicious. I was expecting calamari, but this was a little different. I liked the tomatoes and vegetables that accompanied the dish, however I would like to see larger portion sizing on this. I like the string lights inside really accentuate the white walls and makes you feel like you’re in a building in Greece by the oceanside. All in all a good dining experience in Yaletown and something a little different.

We tried this place after I read the list from Foodster Blackboard. It was a Friday night and we went there a bit early since they don’t take reservations on weekends. The decors pretty simple with a touch of Greek favor in the new renovation from the last revue. On that evening, wee ordered the Rabbit Kalamakia, Moussaka and Country Lamb. The Rabbit Kalamakia was great. We loved the tender rabbit loin sausage wrapped in smoky favor bacon. This dish would be great for a wine tasting appetizer(white wine especially) or share it among friends, because one sausage popsicle would satisfy one’s palate(I would think). The Moussaka was good. The dish was cooked perfectly, well– balanced of mixed eggplants, zucchini and ground beef and it was not greasy unlike other Greek restaurant(stacked with cheeses and olive oil). However, I would loved to have more of the Bechamel sauce on the side because I believed it would enhance the favor of the dish and it refreshes one’s palate. The Country Lamb was the best dish for the night. The roast lamb was tender and melts in your mouth as advertised. The rice, lemon potato and other veggie were all a great compliment to the dish. As a noted, the lamb dish is portioned for two or more, I definitely recommended to be share. The services for this place was pretty good. The bartender/waitress had a great attitude to her job and knew her position in the revue. The only thing that I did not like was the speed of the service. I felt a little rush and we finished our dinner in an hour. I guess the manager may want to slow down a bit and let us enjoy our experience. A ceiling fan may be a great investment too, if you catch my drift.

This is strictly reviewing take out, as I was brought food from the newest establishment in Yaletown for dinner, a nice packed box of chicken Souvlaki. Let’s get to the details of the day, as described from my dear food feeder, she went in to pick up a surprise meal for me, and the place was not busy, I think because not many people know that it’s open yet? I guess Vancitybuzz didn’t over-expose this place like others… no matter, when she looked at the menu it was handwritten on a piece of paper and eventually ordered the chicken, $ 17 for an order, steep from what I was thinking, but maybe it’s due to the high rent of Yaletown, eventually the food came to me not too long after. Your stereotypical styrofoam sectional box packed with the food that this place made for us, it had hefty weight, that is before seeing the prize inside. When we opened this box in my car, 4 small quater pieces of pita over a small container of hummus, a small serving of Greek salad, and the main portion, two big long skewers of chicken over a bed of lemon pilaf. Everything looked right, except one interesting thing was the salad, where I’m used to seeing the feta cheese broken up, and spread out amongst the greens, this was in one block, and then we dug in. Starting with the pita, nothing really special about these, but the hummus was smooth, the texture wasn’t as grainy as the stuff I had at other places, a good balance of flavour kept me always trying to cover up my pita bits. I then moved on toward the salad, and interesting how they actually took care on cutting the cucumbers in a swirl, very thin, not the big crunchy chunks I’m used to at other places, well olive oil’d… and eating a bit of salad, and being able to pick at the feta, the amount you wanted to intake in each bite actually worked. Finally we arrive at the main course, meaty sticks of chicken nicely grilled with some blacking, more on some pieces than others yet the all the meat chunks were moist, no dry bits here… and amazingly enough, the rice had such a good lemon zest taste it made me come back for more, each grain or rice, nice plump, with bite, and only after I finished eating the meal did I realize I didn’t even use the tzatziki sauce??? This meal was devoured over the course of a few hours, going through meetings, and revisiting this box well to the point of being cold food, and it was still excellent. After having this takeout experience, I am going to have to come into this place as it’s been some time since I have had Greek food that satisfied me, and it did not give me a heavy food coma like feeling… until next time… and now another type of cuisine in Yaletown!
