I really like Cascade. The food, the service, the draft beer, the location. I’m quite a regular and like to bring visitors there, too. Nothing like sitting in those great booths!

Solid drinks and the food looked/smelled good but I didn’t eat. Great feel to the place and an awesome list of cocktails.

Been here once. The food and service wasn’t bad. Atmosphere was quite loud. We had the pork belly sliders to start, they were quite dry and lacking flavour For dinner I had the garlic pesto cavatelli — it was really good! They gave a large portion so had some leftovers but finished them the next day :) We also had the Bacon Cheeseburger(which I didn’t try but my boyfriend & brother said it was one of the best they’ve had)

Ok, so the place has a good vibe for sure & our server was nice & efficient. Drinks were good too. Our food was just mediocre… too bad. We’ll go back for drinks.

How to experience a Happy Hour at its best? Be there first. So my friends wanted to check out the Kitty Nights at the Biltmore on a Sunday Night… where to eat that’s close. Hmm… normally we go to Cascade Room at the end of the night. We have drinks, we talk loud and then we head home. This time, our night begins at 5pm. I thought we’d be the first one there. Since I didn’t make a reservation(I don’t know if you can), I didn’t want to be disappointed and have to wait a long time to be seated. There was another group waiting outside the restaurant waiting for them to open. They chose the window on the right, and we chose the window on the left. It’s nice because the windows open all the way and we can take in the sunshine. We had to wait for a friend, so we decided to souse our souls a bit. $ 4 wines… but what’s this? $ 4 Prosecco? Yes please! While I don’t really drink, exceptions can be made. Our server tells us that they have a Sunday Night Roast on special… hmm, but I wanted the Happy Hour food. D(who was late, for shame) orders the Sunday Night Roast. Instead of potatoes(because she can’t eat them), she asks for more veggies. Our server said she’d see what she could do since the food is already portioned out for each meal. Okay. I get the polenta fries and the pork belly sliders. I wish the polenta fries were crispier, but then I should have just gotten fries then… I like the flavor of them. I used up all the aioli that comes with them. I like the Asian-y flavours of the sliders. I ate them all, no sharing. I don’t think sliders are for sharing. You basically gave me three mini burgers that equal one burger. For dessert, I get a crème brulee. I like that it comes in a wider, flatter dish. Mmmm, more brulee. Again, no sharing. If you wanted dessert, you should have gotten your own. The fact that the food costs less during Happy Hour makes it awesome. I normally get their agua fresca/fruit sodas late at night. The passionfruit one is my favourite.

I really want to love Cascade, I really do! Everyone always tells me how wonderful it is, so I give it another try. I think I’ve been at least 4 times by now, and unfortunately I haven’t been wowed yet. Our last adventure was late on a Friday night, and we wanted to grab another drink at a fun spot. Friend suggested Cascade so I thought ‘sure, why not! Another person who really likes it, I’ll give it another shot.’ Well, sadly our server was very inattentive and spent most of our time there dashing back and forth past our table without stopping. I think we were checked on maybe twice — maybe. When we did order our drinks, to her credit our server did let me try one of the beers before I decided what I wanted. I ordered a small beer, and my friend got a Pimm’s cup. Our drinks took quite a while to come, and my friend’s was forgotten about temporarily. My beer was fine when it arrived, and Friend finished her cocktail so I assume it was good. Cocktails I’ve previously had here were fine but didn’t impress me. I find it to be overpriced for what it is, and I would love to see the service improved. I realise that Friday night is certainly a time to be more lenient, and believe me, I am, but even on a quiet Wednesday I’ve had trouble catching the servers’ attention. I have no doubt that I’ll return, and I really hope that one day I’ll see the magic in Cascade that everyone else seems to :)

My only complaint is that the burger was too small for my boyfriend. He’s eating my Brussels sprouts!!! But honestly, the food is amazing. Definitely coming back for the sprouts. Absolutely love them!

Cascade is one of those unique spots that can offer you a wealth of classy cocktails while spewing out none of the pretension found at other spots. Hop on the liquor train and coast your way through the cocktail menu – from classics to more modern twists, they have something for everyone! My personal favourites: Pimm’s Cup and polenta fries!

Great vibe for a date night or chill hang out with friends. This place really reminds me of the nyc bar scene — fun, hip and welcoming with a good drink selection and awesome baked mac n cheese!

Cool place! Came for drinks but also had some of their sliders. So good! Hit this place up if you are looking for a good time.

Another solid Main Street bar/eatery. Good atmosphere, good cocktails, and a decent brew selection. But hey, this is south Main, trendy hipster bars are two’a’panny — so what makes this any different? Well I’ve got two words for you. ‘Scotch Eggs’. As a Brit, this is the first place on the entire continent of North America where I’ve found the ultimate beer snack that is the humble scotch egg(that’s a boiled egg inside minced pork meat and breadcrumbs., deep fried). Hells yes. But add a little more seasoning to that pork meat friends, it was a little bland. Go there, drink, eat scotch eggs. You’re welcome.

One of the many latenight places I go for a drink and something to eat. Most of the time I’m here for a burger and beer. With this in mind I know that I wouldn’t be hungry afterwards as portion sizes are generous. Recently they have added a duck confit poutine that is really good. Otherwise service is great and keeps me coming back for eats.

Next time I need to have more food, but I wasn’t all that hungry unfortunately. I got to enjoy the scotch egg(my first). I was quite impressed by the consistency of the dish. I then followed up with a dish that I can’t recall the name of, but it’s another appetizer. They use a variety of cheeses on a very soft bread which comes with a side of mustard. It accompanied my scotch egg really well!

I’ve lived in the neighbourhood for 4+ years, and had always wanted to try The Cascade Room. For whatever reason, it took me until now to do so. I’m not sure if they have changed identities/owners over the last four years, but my experience tonight was not the one I’d hoped for. I wanted mid-century kitsch; instead I got an impressive cocktail menu alongside weird 90s-era radio rock, with a side of hipster daycare. Not the establishment’s fault, but this place was like ground zero for Main Street hipsters-turned-parents. I counted no less than six babies and toddlers, in a room with about 15 – 20 people. You can thank Christy Clark for turning adults-only establishments into Chuck E Cheese. I wanted Vancouver to have an awesome throwback cocktail lounge. I must have convinced myself over the years that the Cascade Room fit that bill. Whatever the reason, my experience tonight was mostly meh. Food was fine, drinks were decent, but nothing to draw me back again.

I really wanted to like this spot a lot because it’s right around the corner from my place, and it would be great to have spot that I know will always do me right! Super nice staff — our server was a gem :) Buuuuuuut — the menu just wasn’t for me. There was only one item that jumped out at me — Scotch Eggs! I ordered one and one of their daily frescas(delicious house made fruit syrups and soda, a beautiful combination) and a Scotch Egg and proceeded to wax poetic with my homegirl about the perils of being a big room on Main Street. There was nothing stunning about the room, or the menu — but that Scotch Egg was the BOMB! As a Brit Kid growing up, I used to eat the heck out of some good scotch eggs and this was like a blast from the past! I will go back based on that merit alone. If they can make a mean scotch egg, I’m sure I can trust them with my tummy!

Came here for a birthday celebration last weekend. The staff were rude to us right away as soon as we said we would like a table for 8. The rudeness continued the whole time we were there, and my friends who arrived later weren’t even offered a drink menu. One friend had a sip of my other friends almost empty cider can, and the server then came right over and snapped at her, «you can’t drink that because I didn’t ID you, OK?!». And took the can away without offering her a drink of her own. I ordered the classic champagne cocktail wish was tasty, and my friends enjoyed their drinks as well. Too bad the service was so bad, I won’t be returning here. Don’t ever come here with a group.

Love the place. It’s not that big, but the seats are comfy and spacious. Place is dimly lit. Staff is friendly and nice. I didn’t come for the food, but for drinks. I love the drink menu, especially the cocktails. Lots of variety and done very well !!

This only gets 3 stars ’cause my best friend and I only came here for a lite bit rather than their library of beers that they are known for. When we arrived it was just before the rush, however, we sat there waiting to be seated for what seemed like a long time. We ordered a single plate of burger and fries to share between us since we needed something light before the movie and just wanted to be full, not stuffed since we had a lot of walking to do. The meat was really filling and spiced well. Fries were crispy. Customer service was friendly, however, wasn’t as overly friendly as she was with others. In all fairness, she didn’t have to be friendly. After all we didn’t order drinks between us and our bill together with tax and tip came to $ 17. We did come in and out in less than 20 minutes to ensure that we weren’t staying too long occupying real estate for the weekend boom rush.

I can’t believe I’ve been living on Main St. for a year and a half and yesterday was my first time at the Cascade Room — I’ve been missing out! They’ve got an extensive list of interesting cocktails, all in the $ 8 – 10 range. I tried the El Diablo and a Bellini — both were delicious. Lots of bar snacks to choose from too. The pickle jar($ 4) is literally the cutest little jar full of pickled veggies — tasty! And their polenta fries($ 7) with mayo were some kind of wonderful!!! I am usually the biggest critic when it comes to service, but I have to say I was really impressed. The food arrived promptly, our waitress was super friendly, and our glasses were never empty — the way it should be! Pretty sure I’m going to be a regular — I can’t wait to come back and try some more of those cocktails.
