Stacks up well when compared to la Taqueria. The tacos are a similar quality and taste, and they have a similar level of selection. Their fillings have a lot of flavour in a small package, and their tacos are the small corn tortilla(doubled) with a good portion of filling on top. They serve them in a small cardboard box which works, but I prefer the frisbees. One thing they have at Tacomio is sanitary hand wipes. Such a convenience! Not to sound like a germaphobe, but with tacos you’re going to be eating with your hands, and at every other place you need to find a washroom or bring your own hand sanitizer before you can enjoy them. It’s a nice touch. The décor is really cool. It’s a small restaurant, but mix of colourful and rustic is done well here. I popped in for lunch and found it to be relatively quiet. Considering the lines at other places when you want to grab a quick lunch these days, it’s a plus. Bottom line is that they do what la Taqueria does with the same kind of tacos at a similar quality and price. Also it seems to be less busy, so might be a good alternative if you are a bit short on time. Worth checking out.

10 types of pretty inventive taco fillers makes this an ideal stop for quick convenient tacos. Downtown Vancouver still lacks a killer selection of Mexican eateries, way too many of them play it safe(The Mexican Antojitos Y Cantina is still the best). The tacos are no TacoFino, but they’re a good second. For Vegans and Veggies there’s usually three or so tasty options available, as opposed to the usual single bean option. They also have a very generous amount of free salsas and pickled veg which takes this from a 3 to a 4 for me. I do enjoy a good condiment selection!

Tacomio has got to be my favorite place in town for tacos. Yes, I don’t mean to insult La Taqueria or Tacofino(each only a few blocks away), but it’s really THAT good. Priced at 1 for 3, 4 for 10, 6 for 15, it’s really a great deal. Now the selection for tacos. OMG what a selection. Since they’re all laid out in front of you, you’ll have to prepare an extra ten minutes to pick your tacos. They all look bloody good, and rest assured, you can’t pick a bad one… so come hungry. They have a large selection, in very character jars, of hot sauces(or mild sauces) as well as the additional carrot cauliflower pickling one comes to expect at a taco shop. The staff are all smiles, as if they know you’re going to be blown away by what you eat, and are also very patient with our humming and hawing about what to get, and they even have suggestions on most popular! I’ve been before, I’ll be again for sure.

My boyfriend took me here about a month ago for a surprise lunch date, I had heard a lot about this place so I was very excited to try it. I don’t see the taco I had on their current menu which saddens me because I actually really liked it. It was ground beef with fresh salsa and lots of cheese. I was not super hungry(I was sick at the time) so I decided to only get 2 taco’s and my boyfriend got 4 different ones. The cashier heard me say my throat was sore and offered a free sample of the«Hibinade» which is Fresh lime & hibiscus(Jamaica) and retails for $ 3(size is 1 size only; about a grande cup from Starbucks) It was really refreshing and helped my throat so we bought 1 of those and a «Strawchata» which is traditional horchata & strawberry(also $ 3). I personally liked the Hibinade better than the Strawchata, I didn’t love the milk and cinnamon strawberry mix(my boyfriend didn’t mind it). They have a salsa bar… A SALSABARPEOPLE! I was so excited that it’s all made in house. I tried almost every one of them on different parts of my taco’s. I wish I could buy some and bring it home. Turns out the Strawchata didn’t go well with my boyfriends food and the cashier saw he was going to throw it out(almost still full) and she offered to replace it with a new cup of Hilbinade. That was incredibly sweet of her, I don’t know any other small business restaurant that would do that. Over all the ambience is classy and traditional, the food was tasty and they have lot’s of options for everyone, and the staff were so friendly you almost want to hug them! Like I said I am not a huge taco fan but I would go back here anytime!

Taking away a star because they no longer offer pico de gallo on their self-serve bar :(Understandable but that was one of the reasons I loved them and to justify the $ 3/taco price. :/

Pretty good… I’d put it on the same level as Taqureia Pinche… but a different. Each has a different charm, and a different take on things. One to me isn’t better or worse… just different. Went with the wife to finally try this place(tried a different time, but the opening hours on the website differed with what actually happened that day). We had a combo of 4 each. I had carnitas, tinga, chorizo, and asada(I’m using my memory here… it’s sometimes… vague). All 4 were good in different ways… some spicier, some relying on some different flavours to stand out. All were pretty tasty. At the end of 4 like at the place down the street… I was left wanting one or two more… but we went for ice cream instead. Worth a visit… definitely worth a taste. Would go back for sure.

I decided to try this place on a spur of the moment. I wasn’t planning on going here or anything but passed it and decided to give it a try… well because it’s tacos and I miss good good Mexican food having moved from SoCal to Vancouver. This place was good but not great. Had a lot of interesting tacos. The 2 I had tried were pretty good, but not the normal Mexican food I’m used to getting though. The price was a little high and you or probably need 4 to have a meal. I’m not really sure I’ll have the craving to go back again unless I’m right there and know I can’t go wrong. For now I will continue my quest for my go to taco joint.

3.5 Couple things stood out for me more so than the food: Dividers: Tacos come divided on a tray using cardboard separators. It prevents the toppings/sauces from one taco spilling over to another. These things also keep your tacos upright. It kept my fingers nice and clean! Names: They ask for your name when you place your order. When you’re about to leave they say«Thank you(your name here).» I personally think it’s a nice touch. It makes things a little more personal. Display: All the meats /main ingrdients are on display. You see what you eat. No surprises. Their tacos were good but not great. I’ve definitely had better. The fish taco was a little disappointing. But a combination of the finer details made it an enjoyable meal.

Good stuff but not reaching the bar of some of the other wonderful taco joints around town. I was excited to try some of the ingredients more unique to this place but I found them hidden too much. My nopalitas taco, the one I was most looking forward to, didn’t seem to have one piece of nopal in it! Sigh. Actually looking back at the menu online I’m thinking that maybe they gave me a #7 instead of #8? They had it written on the tray properly but maybe didn’t make the right one… The flavours are very good but the sauces are a tad runny… I’d rather that they meld with the proteins a little more. The meats are all a little stringy. The rajas con crema were more rajas and less crema. I’ll give them another chance but in general I think I’ll be walking a block in each direction to one of my more preferred taco joints.

Tasty tacos for sure. I would not say any more or less then the other taco shops in the area. I don’t eat meat, so my veggie tacos were a bit more expensive then if I would have got them at la taqueria. The menu is a bit difficult to read. I ordered by number and accidentally ordered a meat one. I realized the mistake I made after receiving my plate and they were happy to replace my taco with a veggie one, which was really appreciated.

Honestly I stumbled upon this place one day when I was starving and didn’t know where else to go. The prices are way to high for what we get. The tacos are good but you can go to another dozen places in Vancouver and get the same quality food for a cheaper price. However if you’re in the area and don’t feel like walking to la taqueria a few blocks ahead then this is your best choice

I really was hoping that this place would blow my mind and take me back to the Mexican delicious adventurous memories but sadly it failed me! The location is convenient specially if you are catching a show at SFU Woodwards and there seems to be a vacuum of delicious food on the go. The décor is tasteful and staff is very friendly but the food was just mediocre. I tried 4 different types of tacos but none of them really stood out. My quest for delicious Mexican food in Vancouver continues…

I’m going to echo Kam S.‘s statement that Tacomio is «Like not Love.» in other words, Good not Great. With the proliferation of good taco fast food joints and food carts popping up around Vancouver(in addition to Chipotle’s), in my opinion(and with respect to my order), Tacomio didn’t do anything to stand out. The flavours were good, and the food quality was good, however, nothing felt particularly special. I had an order of 4 tacos, two carnitas, on Pollo con mole(mmmm chocolate) and one Tinga de pollo — no disappointments but not standouts either. I might go back, and I wouldn’t discount this place by any means, however, I’m not sure it was worth the 1.5 Km trek from the office when other, comparable, and equally well reviewed taco options are closer. Actually, if I’m ever back on a weekend, I’d love to drop in for some Chicharrones, and update this review with my impressions. NB: My rating is on food only. I would give the service a 5 star, it was lightening quick, accurate and full of smiles.

I’ve walked by this place many times since it opened and finally popped in to try it out for myself! It was great, I’ve even been in a second time and also really good. 4 tacos for $ 10 isn’t bad and they load them with lots of filling plus a hot sauce bar from mild to extra hot to suit everyone’s taste. The carnitas was my favourite, but the ahi tuna was also really good. Tried the chorizo and a pollo(can’t remember which one) and everything was good. Their hibiscus drinks with orange foam was something a bit different and refreshing! Overall a good and easy meal!

Like not Love. I had 4 tacos for $ 10 and they were okay but not amazing. I went in a quiet Tuesday around 530ish to grab a quick bite before meeting some friends. I had 3 carnitas and a pork one(can’t recall name). The tortillas were s bit dry, not a lot of flavour in the meat, a bit too rubbery for my liking. I may try them again but not any time soon.

I love Mexican food. It is my new food religion(see my Unilocal list of my fav Mexican places). I saw this on the front page of Unilocal under«New listings» on March 8th, therefore, decided to book mark it for when I was in the area. This place has been open a little more than a month and seems to be the new hot spot in the city for Mexican. The menu changes daily. Each Taco is $ 3 which is still very reasonable all things considering. The place is small and seating is very very limited, therefore, this is a grab and go situation. I did manage to squeeze in tight beside these really nice guys named Alex and James. They don’t have a bathroom, however, they do have handi anti-bacterial wipes so that you can sanitize your hands before and after, as per law requirements with eating establishments. Amazing customer service, everything is made in house.

I’m not saying these guys are terrible– I’m saying that«Meh. I’ve experienced better» … I was so excited to try out this taco place b/c I heart tacos. They do the authentic double corn tortilla, but I have to say that the fillings leave something to be desired. They are run in assembly line a lot like la taqueria but La Taqueria is a thousand times better than this place. Sure their guac & chicharron are awesome, but if you can’t get the basic taco right what is the point? At 4 tacos for 10 $ this is on par with affordable tacos for Vancouver, but I’d say skip for a few reasons: –La Taqueria is better. It just is. By a lot. –The salsas they offer are all the same red salsa at different heats. I like a lot of variety in my sauce, not just 4 of the same kind of red at different intensties. –They have nopales(cactus) but it’s a zillion times better at Mezcaleria. –On that note, go to Mezcaleria– they are a thousand times better(and yes, owned by the same ppl at La Taqueria –These people don’t know how to do a mole. A mole taco should be almost like a thick chilli sauce. Not some dry chicken with a bit of mole flavour. –Their strawberry horchata is interesting and a nice twist. But it doesn’t have any of the delicious flavour of a proper horchata! If you are going to do a twist on a horchata make it better, not worse. It just tasted like a soy milk with frozen strawberries kind of mixed in. SKIPSKIPSKIP unless you get a mad taco craving on Pender & Abbott. Vancouver’s taco standards are so low it’s sad. I can’t believe this place has almost a perfect score.

Team Tastic came here for a lunch and we got the day’s selection of tacos, a Strawberry Horchata(«strawchata», rice & milk base with cinnamon and vanilla), an Agua Mia(fresh-squeezed orange and hibiscus foam) and a Chicharron with Guacamole(Corn chips and crispy pork rinds). Our tacos were as follows: Carnitas(Confit Pork Shoulder, Pickled Jalapenos, Red Onion, and Micro Coriander) Rajas con Crema(Roasted Poblano Pepper, Creamed Corn, Chard Onion) Pollo con Mole(Claybaked Chicken, House-made Mole Toasted Sesame Seeds) Picadillo de Carne(Angus Beef, Roasted Vegetables, Pea Tips) Conchinita Pibil — Braised Pork Shoulder, Pickled Red Onion, and Achite Sauce) Frijolitos(Pinto Beans, Roasted Onion, Chipotle Pepper, Roasted Garlic, and Crema) My 3 favourites from the tacos would be the the Rajas con Crema, the Picadillo de Carne, and the Pollo con Mole. I was surprised by how good corn can be in a taco. It was a creamy corn and had a satisfying pop with each bite. The Picadillo de Carne was very saucy on the beef and reminded me of having a hearty beef stew except it was now wrapped in a taco. The Pollo con Mole wins because the chicken wasn’t dry and I respect that chicken takes longer to cook right. The tacos here are double-lined and don’t taste too papery like at The Reef so thumbs up for that. Out of the two drinks the Agua Mia is my favourite. I loved the gradient between the orange juice and hibiscus on top of this drink. I waited until I got to the bottom before I mixed them together. The strawberry horchata(with a strawberry ice cube!) was a nice mix of cinnamon and real rice which is not found at places like Sal Y Limon but the Agua Mia gets my vote. If you order the chincharron you have to get it with the house-made guacamole else it’ll be a dry experience. Luckily there’s a great combo price for the two items. The pork rinds were salted lightly and I liked the crunch sound they made as I mashed them in my mouth.

I’ve been eying this place since it was being renovated! Was so excited to have a new taco joint in town. After days and days of it being packed during lunch hours I’ve finally got a chance to sample their work today. The tacos are indeed deeeelicious! Totally deserves 5 stars for taste! However what wasn’t so great for me is the«Straw“chata, which felt too watery for my liking. Creative, but I’d choose a regular horchata over a watery funky creation. It’s more expensive than La Taqueria down the street. $ 3/taco here, $ 10 for 4. Also, the ux designer in me was appalled when I looked at the menu, decided what I wanted and proceeded to order, just to find out that there are only 6 items available today. Apparently they do different daily menus. But that makes having me look at the menu moot. And then I’m forced to make random decisions without being able to think about it without holding up the line. It was an anxiety filled 30 seconds. Lucky you can pretty much order anything on the taco menu and they’ll all be delicious! This will only be an occasional visit for me. There are other Taco joints I prefer more than Tacomio. But this one is so close to my office!
