3.25 stars The Texas nachos we had as an appetizer were BOMB. I could have eaten a whole plate to myself as a meal and would have been good. Best part of the dinner. My Baja fish tacos were«meh»…a bit bland. Too much batter on the fish. The menu said my entrée was supposed to come with rice, beans and salad but the salad was missing. I asked the waitress about this and she said the salad came on top of the tacos. Ummmm, no I don’t think so. It was a standard slaw that came on top of my tacos, that’s supposed to come on all fish tacos. She was either flat out lying to me thinking I didn’t know any better, or new. That, or they need to update the menu and get rid of the salad part if they’re no longer including a salad. But I was too tired and already too stuffed to debate that with her. My Dad got a solo burrito with cheese and chipotle sauce on top. He really liked the chipotle sauce, says it made the burrito. There were also three different girls waiting on our table. Kept asking my dad if he wanted another beer, he had to say«no thank you» three seperate times to each of them. A little annoying…

This is a solid, overall, Mexican place. The food itself was pretty decent, but didn’t wow me in any sense. We ordered the chicken wings which were finger licking good(BBQ flavoured with a bit of spiciness, YUM), and shared a large fish taco plate which came with 3 soft tacos, rice and re-fried beans. The fish tacos come beer battered and with what seemed like tartar sauce(which totally threw me off — I was expecting something more authentic?). Best surprise of the night though had to be their featured Jalapeño Margarita($ 7). Spicy, sweet and oh so delicious. I’d order that one again in a heart beat! Service wise, La Casita does an amazing job and I love the ambiance of the place. Cozy, intimate, full of character.

Came here while in Vancouver for a conference. The food was amazing, some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. It was kind of crowded, but my friend and I didn’t mind. I got a chicken quesadilla and while it has a unique look, it tastes so good! Definitely recommend, I cannot wait to go back to Vancouver so I can eat at La Casita again!

After my recent European trip, I can’t get enough of Spanish & Mexican cuisine, I’m on a tear… got more reviews to write but I digress… Been here for probably a decade or so, a mainstay in this hood. Not just a good corner location, but also another basement level that’ll be good for parties, meetings perhaps. Ordered the chicken burrito, filled with the good stuff, we’re not talking about fast-food Chipotle. Good quality meat. Fresh side order of salad & mashed beans, generous portion. For $ 12, this could be the best deal in Gastown lol. So good, that I ordered another bowl of these beans, supposed to be healthy, right? That’s how I roll. And the complimentary chips with a slight spicy dip, also yummy too. Great atmosphere, music playing in the background. Clean, spacious washrooms. Easy repeat. They’ve got lunch & drink specials too.

mmmm delicious! While you can definitely find cheaper Mexican food in Vancouver, I love La Casita! Every time I’ve been here, their service has been great, even when they’re busy– which is often. They have two floors, the top is great for dates(though it’s quite loud, so not super intimate), and the lower level great for groups. Since the food is nothing out of the norm of the regular Mexican restaurant, I recommend this restaurant mainly because it’s in a great location(so many other venues nearby, it’s definitely possible to do so much with the night before/after dinner), and because the atmosphere is so eclectic, comfortable, and spacious.

Fish tacos! One of the loves of my life. Lots of food even with the small plate. So yummy. All the servers I’ve had this far have been super nice.

This restaurant experience is as good as it gets. We had eaten at this place a few times before, but never gave it a review. Everything from the food, which was delicious, to the service, top notch. The owner came by our table to inquire how well the meal was, and we told him it was excellent. He even posed for a picture with me. The servers here are really nice too. The ambiance is over the top, with everything from wrestlers masks to velvet paintings on the wall make the experience extra special. They have 2 floors. the top floor is for more intimate dining with alcoves and regular size tables, and lower level there were larger tables for parties and gatherings. The blended margaritas hit the spot as well. A superb Gastown establishment so you must try it when you visit!

Very good, authentic Mexican. Reasonably priced. The Chicken Mole Enchiladas were absolutely delicious. The salsa could use a bit more heat, but good flavor. Great guacamole.

As a strong lover of Mexican food, La Casita is in my top 5 must-try restaurants list here in Vancouver. Although the food can be a bit pricey depending on what you order, you get your money’s worth in quantity and quality. There’s a great lively atmosphere, sports games playing on all corners, and good Mexican beer. I recommend it to all.

We had a craving for Mexican food, and dropped in for some lunch. Pretty good service, and great food. We ordered the chicken burrito plate, and fish tacos. If you’re looking for comfort Mexican food, try La Casita.

We dipped into here for dessert. Ordered the milk cake and the churro sundae. Milk cake was good to try. I always say try setting new right? The sundae however came out the true winner. I love the crispiness of the Churros inside the ice cream I think there was some berry sauce as well in there. Love me some Vanilla churro sundaes. $ 15 for two desserts.

either la casita have upped their game, or i just know what to order now. things i love here: tortilla soup and the black bean soup. the green sauce they serve w their nachos.(!!!) the bean and mushroom burrito w the chipotle cheese bake. that part is muy importante. (i honestly had to cut myself off from this place for a bit cos i started going too often for that delicious cheesy burrito.) the salads are huge and great. the salad w chipotle prawns is deciduous. the ceviche is nice times. good caesars. the servers are friendly and they let me practice my spanish w them jajaja. and the owner, kaz, is a nice dude.

Tried this place out because we were sick of our usual Flying Pig-style restaurants/sushi bars. PROS: — nice, attentive waiters(even though we were there on a packed saturday night) — food was flavourful and authentic — decent portion sizes CONS: — a bit pricey for what you’re ordering — some of the portion sizes were confusing, since the chimichangas were enormous but other dishes for around the same price weren’t — only one washroom on the top floor

Came in here with my boyfriend on a Monday night and had a great experience. We ordered 3 mini margaritas each($ 3 each!) which were delicious and an awesome deal. We shared the tortilla soup and the large al pastor tacos and were absolutely stuffed by the end of the meal. The soup was definitely my favorite part, super flavorful and a great portion for an appetizer between 2. The meat in the tacos was perfectly seasoned, the grilled pineapple was a great addition, and the texture and taste of the tortillas was authentic. Service was good and efficient. There were only two waitstaff on the floor in a full restaurant and I could tell they were super busy but we got everything in a timely fashion. The mini margaritas were a great deal, however the other drinks on their menu seemed a bit overpriced. A Double Cuervo Margarita for $ 12? Kinda steep. I would expect those kind of prices at a high-end fine dining establishment, not a casual Mexican one. However, I will definitely be back!

Good ambiance for a Mexican restaurant. Service is average. There are variety of Mexican food to choose from. Food was pretty filling and not bad. Good place to satisfy your Mexican food craving.

This place honestly deserves 3 full stars! I thought the food was good but not great. The nachos were a disappointment; the prawn meal I had was very filling and good but the prawns were a bit too over seasoned; the drinks were alright; they remind me of cheap mixes you get at all inclusives in Mexico; so I guess they’re authentic! I’d go back but with lower expectations!

Just had a group lunch today but unfortunately they can’t seat groups on the main floor and need to have you placed in the basement. The prices and portions are decent but the food wasn’t as tasty.

Another Mexican place in Gastown. Parking is difficult around here — try looking for a loading zone. The inside is typical Mexican, with painted furniture, and a nice bar area. Food is definitely a bit on the pricey side, at $ 15 or so for an entrée. Appetizer nachos — really good dips. Special mention. Comes free with meal. Nachos — served with some kind of bean sauce and pico de gallo in the middle. Actually not bad, but the sauce was concentrated in the middle. Ran out of dip eating the outer chips. Combo #5 — 1 chorizo quesadilla and 1 beef chimichanga with rice, beans, and salad. Actually not bad, but a bit expensive at $ 17. The quesadilla was quite good. The meat was held in place by the melted cheese, and the portion was generous. The food was quite organized on the plate — looks almost like something one would find in a school cafeteria. The rest of the food was a bit on the bland side, but actually tasted decent. The chimichanga was also quite generous on the filling. The tangy green sauce on top really adds a nice zing. The value could be better, but I will be back at some point.

What a disappointing Mexican restaurant. Bland is sadly the order of the day. Before the negatives here’s some positives: The restaurant is s nice enough and in a good locations for after dinner drinks. The staff are very friendly and there’s a high staff to customer ratio, which is great for speed of service. Now the bad! Arghhhhh., Mexican food should be crazy delicious. Rich, spicy, marinated., the food here is so bland. Bland dips, bland tacos, even bland margaritas. There’s also no spice to any of the food whatsoever. Sad times.

Came to grab some quick take out, I had the chicken mole enchiladas while my boyfriend had the breakfast burrito. Overall, very tasty. Came with a side of some sort of red sauce(not spicy) that i drenched my already saucy enchiladas with(dumped my boyfriend’s onto mine as well. What can I say, I’m a saucy gal.) Good portion sizes for 12 – 13 $ Long wait time for the take out though, 10 – 15 mins for our two orders.
