Enjoyed a delicious half rack of ribs meal here last night. Served on a great looking platter which included corn bread, beans, coleslaw and a helping of potato salad(fries would have been another option) The ribs were served dry and with a generous helping of BBQ sauce for us to be able to choose how wet wanted to make things. Personally, I’m a fan of that style of BBQ cooking and service. All the sides were great. The corn bread might have been too dry for some, but for us that just gave us an extra use for that delicious BBQ sauce! Good, quick service and an enjoyable meal from start to finish!

Fantastic food! My girlfriend and I were intending to go to Café Medina for brunch around noon but after learning that the wait was an hour 30, we decided to walk around and find somewhere new. Only half a block away we found this place. Great food, super friendly service, neat art and good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend giving it a go.

Its ok. Hit or miss meals. Good variety on menu. I recommend the pulled pork. BBQ wings aren’t very good at all. Taste more like baked wings to me. Side dishes seem to be the star.

It was embarassing to listen to the big bald guy harass the chef. He was unpleasant to listen to the entire meal and was rude to me and every other customer who came in. The chef however did an excellent job. The bbq shrimp were wonderful so I am sad to say I will not be enjoying them again.

Not what I had remembered. Came here when it first opened– this was prob the first location 15 years ago. But has it slid? or have I just been around the Southern-BBQ block a few more times that I know what good southern BBQ is now? Good price. Lots of food. But unfortunately not great food. The benefit is that there’s enough bbq sauce to cover the dryness of all the meat. Service is good, beer is cheap. Won’t be coming back.

Do. Not. Eat. Meat. Anywhere. Else. For serious. Memphis Blues satisfies carnivores like no other joint does, including all the other bbq places. If you want heaping piles of meat, well-seasoned, cooked right, and slathered with bbq sauce. Yes. Go. Right now. The portions are huge; you definitely get your money’s worth. The bbq sauce is sweet and smoky, and that’s my thing. Now before you get suspicious about my gushing, alright some things to watch out for. 1) if you are a chicken lover, their chicken isn’t great; they are beef and pork people. 2) the ribs can be hit or miss depending on the cut. 3) the cornbread differs in batches, but that happens. 4) fries are seasoned and crispy; if you like plump fries, go to Burger King. Ok, good advice: a) weekends are sometimes graced by Flinstones-esque beef ribs; ridiculously good but call to check availability. b) 1st time, go with 2 friends and get the Memphis Platter so you can try all their signature meats; more ppl, you might fight, unless y’all eat like supermodels. c) Broadway location is really the best. d) order at the counter when ready and prepare to feel like the king of the jungle.

Maybe too authentic for some reviewers here it seem. BBQ is a funny thing, each region of the US has their take on BBQ and you can break it down into 3 – 4 categories. Good BBQ places do run out of food, that’s normal, it’s a sign of taking time to smoke things. Now, this place is a «Wet» BBQ. I had a few platters and the meats were juicy, but you need the sauce. Some people like BBQ that way, I prefer a dry rub or flavor injection so you can eat the meats without sauce or with both. Not my preference but it’s similar to what I had a few places stateside in the past. Corn bread was decent, Potato salad was good. The slaw is home made but its«mayo» style. not sweet or tart, just plain slaw. Some people hate that, I’m neutral. I found the brisket a bit fatty, but it was ok. Personally I would have like to have more flavor on the meat but extra sauce fixes that. Portions are large, I believe there is a platter special to share on Tuesdays. Given the lack of BBQ in Vancouver, it’s a welcome addition.

Went here with my son. We were each going to get a combo for 2 when we noticed that the smallest platter was only $ 5 more and would likely leave us with leftovers for the next day or two. Originally seated at a small table because all other tables were occupied, but just before food arrived, we were moved to a booth to give us plenty of room. Every meat was delicious. Cornbread was sweet and moist — just the way we like it. Only complaint was that when were given containers to pack up our food, we weren’t given any way to pack up sauce or salad items. Would definitely return.

Ordered the daily special which was a combo plate of pulled pork and sausage. Both were amazing. The combo also comes with cornbread, coleslaw, fries and beans. The beans were a bit too salty/smoky for my taste, but the fries and cornbread went perfectly with the rest of the meal. If it weren’t for the slightly high prices, I’d be here every week.

Sold out of everything except sausage, pulled pork, and ribs on a Sunday at 7? Unforgivable. We walked out. Do we need to call ahead next time to ensure they actually have food?

Definitely agree with another reviewer who said that this place lacked ambiance, I haven’t been to the other locations but some music or the hockey game would liven this place up quite a bit. Shared the Memphis platters and the food was pretty decent but not hot enough. They were out of regular chicken so they gave us the pulled chicken instead which was pretty good. The ribs were dry for my liking and the consistency reminded me of asian cha siu. I think if I were to try Memphis Blues again I’d go to a different location.

This is a great place for some tasty BBQ. I love their pulled pork and the vibe of the place is great. Make sure to bring your appetite! Last time I was here I had the pulled pork meal AND a piece of apple pie. My friend bet me $ 10 I couldn’t finish my whole meal and the pie… I won the $ 10… not sure I won at life. I think I would recommend sharing a meal between two people if you are planning on dessert; the portions here are nice and big.

Sooo good. The fries were awesome with the seasoning. The pulled pork sandwich had just the right amount of spicy sauce. Was a delicious lunch.

Solid 3.5 stars. Don’t get me wrong, I love their food but this location lacks the ambience of the Robson and Commercial Drive locales. Good size location. Plus this is the only one that doesn’t deliver. Restricted rush hour parking restrictions in front.

Like it almost every time. I always bet the brisket meal. Didn’t get 5 starts because a few times the meat was a little dry. All the other times it was cooked really good. Great meal to fill you up for the whole day.

Dropped in for lunch while on a break between games in Richmond. Small location but awesome staff. Im just starting to get into BBQ but this stuff was pretty good. The pulled pork was tender and the bbq sauce wasnt overly sweet or spicy(good for some, bland to others). The slaw was crunchy and fresh and the corn bread was delicious. Worth getting your hands a little messy.

Poor taste, I throw out everything after I had the beef brisket. I guess it was food position.

My bf hunts for BBQ wherever we go. So when we were in Vancouver, we found Memphis Blues BBQ House. This place is super laid back and casual. You order at the front and they bring out your food. We started off with some wings, which were pretty tasty. For my entrée I had the special that day, this included: pork ribs, chicken and brisket with 3 sides. My bf had the half rack of pork ribs and some sausage Along with some fries and some other sides. To be honest all of the sides were pretty gross except for the fries and cornbread which were okay. Between the 2 of us we had all the sides. The greens were too salty, the coleslaw was watery and fishy tasting, the potato salad was bland and the beans were too sweet. I didn’t finish any of my sides. The proteins were much better. The brisket was good, I kinda wish i just got the Brisket Plate. It was smokey, juicy and tender. It had the perfect amount of fattiness and salt. The ribs were pretty good too, not the best but not bad. My bf liked them, though he prefers baby back ribs. The BBQ chicken was okay, nothing special. Service was okay, no one really checked in on us. The ambiance is casual and upbeat. Parking can be a little annoying as it is just street parking. Overall we had a nice time. Even though the brisket was very good not too sure I would come back.

Hmmm… I have been to this place many many MANY times… I love BBQ.(and I mean LOVE!!!) A lot of people like the St. Louis style of ribs… where everything is just falling apart… this isn’t that kind of place. There’s some bite to the ribs… but that’s not why I’m coming here. My normal order(split with another person) is the 2 meat combo plate. I generally pick pulled pork and brisket(oh brisket… where were you all my life in a small town in Saskatchewan)… That however is not enough… I ALWAYS get a side order of sausage(OMG!!! it goes so nicely with that other meat accompaniment). Granted… I leave this place with a notch loosened on my belt… maybe some leftovers… but probably not… maybe just another loosened notch after that first one… some nice bourbon or lemonade in my belly(is it just me… or are more places bringing in more bourbons! Not just the run of the mill Jim Beam, or someone trying to tell me that Jack Daniels is bourbon… or the rare inclusion of that ever NOT so rare Maker’s Mark… I’m liking it! More bourbon for everyone!), and good memories looking forward to my next time there…. which will be soon.
