I came here on a Friday night and they had a live band. The music was hurting and way too loud. There were only 3 customers, and I think the were my granny’s friends lol. This used to be the Side Door back in the day, and it always had a huge line out the door and around the corner.

Monday night is industry night-no cover for industry staff, bikini contests, open mic, dj showdowns, fun fun fun!

If I didn’t know the staff I would probably never go here, but this staff will do you no wrong. This bar is nothing out of the ordinary and mostly UBC kids looking to blow off some post-exam come here but the staff is friendly and efficient. If you run in to Shane Koka(pretty much the best bouncer, manager, bar tender EVER) then you are in luck. The ambiance is more of a sports bar than a club and many forget this place exists because its on the second floor and down a long hall way but they do have fabulous drink specials so if your goal is to drink cheaply… then Lola’s it is!

Lola’s Caberet is not the place to go if you want to meet dynamic people and listen to great music. If you are looking to get stupid drunk and go home with a UBC student then make your way there as soon as you can! Just try and avoid the bathrooms– they STINK!

Hidden away on the second floor of 2291 Broadway and just beyond a long corridor is Lola Cabaret. The music is loud as Top 40 beats drown out the potential of any conversation. This being said, people don’t really come here to converse. The dance floor is usually packed, regardless of the night, with late-night denizens. For those less inclined to show off their dance skills, there are two pool tables just off to the side and drink specials to keep you entertained. Lola Cabaret often plays host to a number of fundraisers and events throughout the year, especially UBC ones.
