I have been coming to see Lerma for a long time; so it’s about time I did a review. Lerma does my colour every 6 weeks, as well as regular haircuts. I would not say that she concentrates on men’s hair only, as she does a great job on my hair as well. I often see other women there, too. Lerma has the best haircutting techniques I have ever experienced. She is technical, but in a low key manner. The result is hair that looks good for weeks and weeks. In addition, she does a great colour job. I can get any kind of colour that I want from Lerma and know that it is going to look wonderful. This summer she gave me blonde highlights that brought me a lot of compliments. On my birthday, she gave me pink feathering — it was awesome! I expect to stick with Lerma for as long as she is in business. Just please don’t try to take over my regular Friday spot every 6 weeks!

I was in the area with some time to kill and decide to get my hair cut. Based on other reviewers I decided to wander over to Cape’s. Lerma was super nice and you can definitely tell that she knows what she’s doing. I think everyone has had a haircut that they weren’t impressed with and you surely won’t get that here. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Lerma has been cutting my hair for over a decade. She’s great. Trained by Vidal Sassoon, she even made a pilgrimage to see him before he passed away. Capes is a nicely designed, cosy salon on West 8th and Cambie close to transit. There are only three stylists who work there including Lerma who is the owner. She has a great collection of Jazz which is always playing in the background. Her head massages are legendary. Frankly, she doesn’t charge enough. Lerma tends to focus on mens haircuts although she has both loyal men and women clients. You’re in good hands with her. She is sweet, generous and kind and she’s very skilled.

Don’t take my 5⁄5 stars lightly — this was a wonderful place and easily one of the best hair dressing experiences I’ve had(and I have had many since I’ve been moving around a lot in the last couple of years). The owner was soft spoken and very friendly. I went in a couple of weeks prior in search of Moroccan oil and she was so nice that I was drawn back to get a cut. I’m a student so obviously price is important and for a very reasonable $ 35 I got exactly what I wanted. She spent the time discussing what I had in mind and making sure we understood each other because what the client means and what the hair dresser hears can often be different things. She’s knows the lingo of her profession and I know the street slang but with her experience we were on the same page. At the end of the appointment she answered all of my questions about what kinds of products were best to help bring out my natural curl for my new inverted bob. THEN she just flat out gave me a half bottle of curling cream from her cart off her professional product line. All I can say is this lady will brighten your day and I can almost guarantee you will walk out of there with a smile. GOFINDOUTFORYOURSELF!

The owner always is friendly, precise, and efficient! Probably the best hairdresser I have ever had and totally worth every dollar. She definitely knows how to cut layers that photograph and grow out well! I would recommend this salon to all my friends.
