Came here for breakfast. Servers were kind and super helpful, and the music was great. The meal itself was pretty mediocre though. I got the bison short rib hash. It was fairly tasty, but didn’t blow me away: and more importantly, it was a very small portion for the price I paid. I was hungry a few hours after eating it. In short; decent, but in my opinion not quite worth the amount of money you pay for it.

Dined with our toddler on Dine Out 2015 menu. Food was mediocre at best and waitress wasn’t friendly. The hubby got the apple crumble as dessert. It was clearly microwaved and there was no taste at all(I mean it tasted like a stale cardboard if that can be described as taste). Very disappointed. Not sure if we will try this place again any time soon.

I wish I could give this place 4 stars but the food took forever to arrive. People who arrived after us receive their food before us. When we finally got the food my California Benny’s were to die for. Delicious! And the price made me very happy. The ambience is casual, nothing fancy. I highly recommend this place for a tasty brunch on a budget.

Be honest. Canadian needs to know covering the poor food quality is not always a good thing. First: The most important coffee to wake us up fail: Taste same as «McDonnell» deluded coffee or not enough of qty of coffee, liquid cream also deluded.(not sure what types brand they provide) Second: Chicken and Waffle: Over fatty chicken deep fried, smell so great but tasty sad Third: Hash brown the biggest loser dish. Canadian styles? Or American styles?, Please label on your menu in clear way. Is just chopped cube potato. If this restaurant is base on location along side the ocean park to balance the reputation… not smart.

So here’s the thing… the brunch here is great, really great actually. This is what irks me… I have visited with my husband on several occasions. On each occasion we have asked for very simple, small substitutions. For example, Hollaindaise on the side, or scrambled eggs instead of poached as my husband prefers his eggs quite cooked. Every time the servers(who are lovely and friendly) have come back to say«the chef does not like to make substitutions». So, instead of eggs on the side or scrambled throughout the decision was to serve no eggs. While I can appreciate good food and the desire to maintain the menu as it is described I find the lack of accomodation very frustrating! These substitutions would not impact the amount of food the restaurant has available. We were made to feel like we were high maintenance and left feeling disappointed! Considering the restaurant strives to present high quality dishes I feel the dining experience would be improved with at least an attempt to accommodate requests that would absolutely be met with no issues dining at restaurants of similar quality and price point. Not accommodating these requests depicts those that prepare the food as pompous and/or lazy… Not sure which one!

Small, dark and loud(just like how I like my men). Seats like 20 or so people so make reservations. It was already kinda cramped when I went and that was seriously only half full. The place is louder than expected, more like Earls for noise level. Don’t expect any intimate conversations here. Food was good. I had the duck confit cassoulet which I thought was hearty but overly salty and had too many beans. I was a fan of the pastry puff crust. My friend’s A Proper Steak was better — nice balance of flavour and texture. Note: I ducked into the men’s washroom quickly because the women’s washroom was occupied for too long. I walked in and noticed the flies hanging around the toilet and the door knob was wet. Yuck. Hopefully the women’s washroom fared better.

Small portions, overpriced and uninspired brunch menu. Left hungry wanting seconds — from someplace else. Too many options and too much competition, won’t waste my time or money here next time.

I went here for my girlfriend’s(now wife) birthday brunch and were not disappointed. They hit every mark,. the food: perfectly cooked poached eggs on creative dishes(bison hash if I recall correctly), drinks: awesome mimosas, good service and setting: I love this stretch of Yew and the room itself always pleases. Since that day, this place has remained a benchmark for other Vancouver breakfasts and we’ve been to quite a few since.

Went there with a friend for brunch. I am vegetarian — there was only two dishes with a tiny tiny(less than ¼ cup) of vegetables. I asked if I could modify one of the dishes to have no eggs and more veggies and was told that«this restaurant doesn’t modify anything, they don’t want to run out of ingredients». The server said I would get the most vegetables by ordering the hash. I was very clear that I didn’t want just a bunch of potatoes with a little bit of vegetables, and she assured me that that would not happen. «Half and half» she said. Yet, when I got my meal it was a bunch of precooked, warmed up house potatoes with 5 wilted leaves of kale, 3 small mushrooms, and tomato sauce with onions. $ 13. I was starving afterwards. The server was nice enough. I will never go back though.

Had brunch with a friend here this morning. Food was great but the service could use a lot of work. When we arrived there was a party of two seated. The staff seemed disinterested, preoccupied and it took them a while to notice that we had walked through the front door and were waiting to be seated. Although really friendly, the staff also seemed a bit scatterbrained. Great bruch menu. We ordered chicken and waffles and the breakfast poutine and both were delicious. Toward the middle of our brunch the restaurant filled to capacity. There were more than enough wait staff to look after everyone, but it took them a long time to clear our empty plates, and to arrange the bill for our meal. I think that better staff training would be in order here. My friend and I both left feeling satisfied with the meal but agreed that the place was poorly managed.

Last night left such a sour taste in my mouth, and it wasn’t just from the so so pisco sour that I ordered and overpaid for. I met my husband and friend there after work-they had been there for several hours already and had ordered enough drinks and bacon wrapped figs between them to amount to an almost $ 180 bill. They split it down the middle, my husband added a 15% tip and our friend bypassed the machine tip and put down $ 15 at the bar. So a total tip of nearly $ 30. The bartender/waitress proceeded to hold up the bill(to ME!) and tell me that they had not tipped enough. She did this in front of another patron who was sitting close by, in front of several of her co-workers, and continued for several minutes to discuss/pout about her tip. Having been a waitress myself for MANY years, I cannot fathom a) how she would think it was appropriate/professional to do this in front of patrons and b) how much of a tip was she expecting anyhow? We all want a big tip in the service industry, but regardless, you smile and say thank you-especially to returning neighbourhood customers who are wiling to spend nearly $ 200 at your place of business! It was so disappointing as we do live in the neighbourhood and have always enjoyed coming here and bringing our friends here for a drink. alas, I will NOTEVER return and I will certainly not recommend it to anyone I care about. I can make a better pisco sour at home, minus the sour attitude.

I have only been to this place for breakfast, so I can’t comment on the dinner/drinks. Although, the wine list on the wall looked pretty appealing. Over Thanksgiving weekend I had the Farmer’s Hash, which may just be one of the best breakfast items I have ever put in my mouth. The dish had potatoes, some healthy kale, and was topped with a couple of poached eggs covered in a delicious semi-sweet sauce of some kind. The sweet taste was nicely contrasted by a wine broth that tasted a tad like balsamic vinegar. I was debating between a few different items. The table next to me ordered the breakfast poutine, which would have definitely been second on my list. It also looked delicious. The only complaint I would have is that usually when I am out for breakfast it’s because I had a late night. This place is warm and cozy, but you’re seated nearly right next to your neighbours. So your conversation becomes their conversation, your space their space, and I’m kind of anti-social before coffee regardless. But, all in all a nice little place.

Too sexy for brunch. Since I have officially given up on Chewies
I decided to check our their friendly neighbours for some A.M. grub. Not sure what I was expecting for a place called Abigail’s party, but definitely not a dim light, sexy server joint. The name Abigail is too cute for a sexy server who has a transparent blouse on at 9:00 a.m., however, the service was actually quite good so I can’t really complain. So thank you :) The food, that is the main reason I give this place two stars. I heard they revamped their brunch menu, so naturally I was excited to see what they had come up with. We ordered the breakfast poutine and the cinnamon bun french toast. Basically, they both sucked. The cheese curds were melted in the poutine, so «yay!» for that, but the hashbrowns were overly greasy and lacked major seasoning. Now, the cinnamon bun french toast– such a great concept, poor execution. My plate arrived with two pieces of «french toast» that were the size of an english muffin, doused in bad syrup, and toped with a pitiful amount of apple(3 small slices to be exact), and a tablespoon of mascarpone creama. It was so sweet that I couldn’t taste the cinnamon, now that takes some major f*** up, IMO. We were still hungry after we left. If this were a real party I would call the foodie police on you.

Another eggs benny adventure for me! I came here for brunch with my boyfriend because someone had recommended it to him. The service was quick and friendly. We got our food within 5 minutes from ordering. The coffee was delicious, I ordered Abigail’s Benny(basil and goat cheese) which was delicious. I decided to indulge and order the rosemary and cheddar biscuit which went really well with the jam. The roasted potatoes that came with the benny were the best I’ve had — because they were actually nice and crispy, compared to other places which serve under cooked potatoes. One thing that was a bit displeasing was the egg on my boyfriends sandwhich was a bit too under cooked — still runny and goopy. Luckily we like fairly raw things and he didn’t mind too much.

Looks like not everyone came to the party. The menu items sounded quite good, but unfortunately the execution was a bit heavy-handed. I got the buttermilk fried chicken with gravy, biscuit, and kale. The chicken was crispy but not very savory. It bordered on burnt with little flavor. The gravy, which was liberally ladled on top, was thick and tasted of tomato rose sauce and really was not appetizing at all. I’m a sucker for a good biscuit. These were delightfully herbaceous, but a little dense. They were still my favorite part of the meal. The kale was a pathetic pile of green with large, strong chunks of garlic and bitter pieces of pecan running through it. Not a fan. Not great. Wouldn’t go out of my way to go here unless there’s a sure-fire, reliable dish you know of. Unfortunately for me, it’s easy to mess up fried chicken.

I wanted to love it here, I really did. The menu reads well — Canadian inspired bistro fare with little pretence, the wine list is well thought out and the ambiance pairs well with its cozy Kitsilano location. This is the kind of neighbourhood restaurant that I want to see doing well. We visited Abigail’s on a beautiful Friday evening — we arrived two drinks in and the world just felt right. The server showed us to our table, the food arrived, drinks were had, general merriment ensued, and we settled up and made our way home. The only problem, the food, it was simply average. The fresh summer pappardelle was timid and nowhere near representative of the lively flavours of summer. The duck confit was tame, the jus was thin and the cheesy polenta just added more heft to and already heavy dish. It is not as if any of the dishes were noticeably off — the flavours were all fine, but lacking character. Simply put, the food at Abigail’s is boring. A simple bistro menu such as Abigial’s needs heart and soul, and a lot of it. Sadly, what was put in front of me did not reflect a passionate chef, it was simple mediocre food. Perhaps it was an off night for the kitchen, and I really hope this to be true. But more than likely the kitchen at Abigail’s Party has lost the lovin’ feelin’ that I am sure they once had.

The interior of the restaurant is quite small and it can easily seem cramped. Luckily they have a new patio. Expect a long lineup on the weekends. But, again, it’s brunch in Kits so that’s to be expected. The food is quite expensive here. Two breakfast entrees + coffees came to over $ 30 with tax and tip. I didn’t feel like the food was worth it. This is a hip place as evidenced by both the servers and the clientele. I had the huevos rancheros and my mother had a hash over home-style potatoes. Both dishes were competently made and featured some flair. You could tell they were going for a Top Chef-style vibe. While the food was composed and plated very nicely, it just didn’t taste all that remarkable. The potato bits were overcooked in my mom’s hash and my rancheros lacked seasoning. The staff members are nice, though our table was a bit overlooked during the brunch rush(slow on the coffee refills). They give cute packets of peanut butter and jelly to go with your toast. Abigail’s is worth a try, but I prefer the cheaper, less hipster-y brunch joints like Joe’s and Zen.

Came here to experience a hipster’s brunch. Parking here is kind of crappy, but if you look around hard enough on the side streets, you’ll find a spot. There was a bit of a lineup out front, but hey, everyone wants to FEEL good on a Sunday. The inside is packed of hipsters, and there is an ambience of. good feelings. There might’ve been some entitlement floating around in there somewhere as well, as well as fighting the System. Breakfast here ranges from $ 9 – 15 for eggs, some potato, and some meat. The pricier options may have a twist, such as chopped steak, or a Mexican theme. I had the basic«The Standard» breakfast($ 9). The menu said hash browns, but it was actually fried quarter(as in cut in ¼) potatoes, which was a pleasant surprise. The eggs were a touch runny, but whatever. There was only 1 sausage(I was expecting 2), but it was longer than the typical ones, and tasted more like bratwurst. The only thing I didn’t like was the toast. It consisted of 3 thin pieces of some type of multigrain bread(not your typical loaf), and was quite dry. It did come somewhat heated though, so the butter melted into it after a bit of waiting. Service was friendly. The waitress was chatty. Overall, a good experience. My friend and I left happy.

Cute spot in Kits and I finally had a chance to try it out. We arrived after 1pm, but because the place is quite small, there was a bit of a wait. We sat at one of those high top tables, which was a nice way to enjoy the open space. Love the chalkboard menus and brick walls. 5 kinds of benedicts, 6 kinds of scrambles, a couple other Abigail’s ‘Staples’, which includes a tempting cinnamon bun French toast. Lots of sides available too. Decided on the Bison Short Rib Hash: slow-cooked bison short ribs, fresh baby spinach, caramelized onions, fresh herbs, red new potatoes and two poached eggs, topped with hollandaise and served with mulltigrain toast. This was good, but not excellent as I thought it would be. Coffee was ok, refills needed to be requested. Service was spotty. Noticed that they also have wine & cheese, so I’ll likely to be back when the weather warms up, and I’ll soak up the sun on their lovely patio.
