The selection is good. And the meat appears to be fresh. But I need more than just that if I’m going to pay an arm and a leg for my meat. Recently I was at Olliffes to get some ground chuck. It was a rainy day and the store was not busy. I was told they didn’t have any ground, but they could grind it for me. I would have to wait about 10 minutes for him to clean the grinder. I told him I would go next door for my produce in the meantime. When I returned about 20 minutes later, he hadn’t done it and told me he had to «serve customers» while I was gone. I would now have to wait for him to clean the grinder and prepare the order. When I was in the store for this second time, again the store was almost empty. There were 5 butchers behind the counter. When I spoke to the owner about it, he said customers in the store take precedence and he can’t have them ignored while I go off to another store and«might never come back». No apology. Only the implication that it was my fault. The butcher could easily have told me about this strange policy when I said I’d be back in 10 minutes. Olliffe’s has lost me as a customer. Which begs the question; How does it make sense to do business like that? Insulting me by implying that I would walk off without my order and then loading on a further insult by making me wait 15 minutes when I had just tried to avoid that very problem, is not a good way to bring in customers or build customer loyalty. I have never been told this kind of nonsensical rationale before by a butcher, let alone the OWNER. This says a lot about this shop’s attitude toward customers. And I expect more from a business that demands such high prices for their product. But, fortunately, I have many other places to go to for very fine meat products, and excellent customer service. I am writing this review to advise that you to do just that if you care about a respectful and satisfying experience. Just saying…

Really fun butchery in Summerhill area. They have tons of options — and are really knowledgeable about their meats! I’m not going to say they are the most cost effective place to shop — but everything is soo darn good its all worth it. They have ready made food — sandwiches and salads that you should also try. Its a small shop — funky and loft like. can get busy. Definitely check out the fridge with the dry aged beef — worth the splurge. 21⁄30

They have everything you need… and you will pay for it, but if you can afford to live in Rosedale… then paying $ 16 for 2 chicken breasts is a good deal.

Gorgeous butcher shop with fantastic, pricey but fantastic steaks and $ 6 sandwiches. The store is immaculate, and beautiful in an industrial loft, dexter-sort of way. Worth the trip to Rosedale, if you are visiting town and will have access to an open flame.

Great butcher shop! Their staff is very helpful, even when I walk in without any plan in mind — they’ll help me find great cuts of meat while explaining the best ways to cook it and what it would taste good with. They have a phenomenal pork chop that they call the«foodie cut» that’s cut with a nice portion of pork belly on it… DROOL! When I was looking for a less expensive, but still high quality cut of beef, they helped me find something that was delicious and within budget. They’ve got everything from wild game to marrow bones to seasoned chicken to homemade sausages and much more in between. They are more expensive than just stopping in at your grocery store, but the quality of meat is wonderful, and they’re all«happy» meats. If you’re looking for good quality meat and willing to pay a bit more, it’s totally worth it.

This is a high-end butcher located in the area just south of the Summerhill LCBO amongst a group of upscale food purveyors known as «The Five Thieves,» I believe because of their prices. I haven’t purchased a lot of meat there, so this review is purely for their lunchtime sandwiches, and they are good! The price has risen on the sandwich — it’s not as great a deal as it was 5 years ago, but it’s $ 6 for top quality meats on delicious kaiser or onion rolls, with lettuce and mayo-like condiments. $ 6 is a good deal for a good sandwich in this city, especially from a place nicknamed one of the five thieves! When I went today at 12:10 there was a large assortment of sandwiches to choose from: turkey, ham and cheese, hot salami and Italian sausage. These are big sandwiches: if they weren’t so good, I’d probably only need half, but I can’t resist the deliciousness of meat and mayo-like condiments on a yummy kaiser. DON’T go much later than 12:30. The sandwiches are popular and once they’re gone they ain’t making more that day. One time I went at 12:40 and the guy who walked in before me got the last one. So I do apologize for not having any information on their main source of business, the butcher. It all looks very good, and the guys behind the counter are really personable so I’m sure they’d help you!
