Lumiere Press

Lumiere Press is a ‘publisher or limited edition books on photography.’ It is run by a very talented artist-​printer, Michael Torosian. Like publishers of photography books, such as Steidl, Taschen, and Twin Palms, Michael’s books are informative and offer insight into the works of photographers. Unlike these publishers, his books are works of art with hand-​set type, printed by letterpress, with bindings also made by hand. With very limited editions, they sell out quickly and find their way into the hands of art museums and collectors. I have several Lumiere Press books — they are amazing to hold in hand, read, and admire. Something that my Kindle can’t duplicate. Lumiere is located in a converted garage and not open to the public without calling first.
