This community center has a lot of fitness and dance classes year round, the atmosphere is welcoming and the volunteers at the front desk are super helpful. Also, it helps that you can get to this place easily by the 510 or 509 streetcars from Union, or just walk to it if you live close to Queens Quay/Spadina. My review is only based on the beginners yoga classes I’ve recently started attending, and i LOVE them. The instructor has a mild calming voice, which is great when you are relaxing and letting your stresses melt at the end of the day. She helps you out if you have never done yoga before, and will correct your posture or tell you alternate positions if you aren’t very flexible. The dance studio where the classes are held is well lit and airy, even though my class is later on in the day it smells fresh and un-sweaty. When I’m lying on my mat i can see the CN tower, and some trees and the sky, minus all the noise, and its really soothing. As a new-comer to yoga, i found the class really accessible and easy to follow, and best of all you can sign up for classes or drop in(for a few bucks more per class) and they are really cheap! I paid $ 55 for 8 classes. pssssttt…if you are a student you get 50% off on all classes! and if its your 1st time signing up for a class you save $ 5.
