This was the closest CML lab open on a Saturday. The wait time was longer than average, taking about 45 mins from when I walked in the door. There are a couple confidentiality concerns. The reception desk is configured in such a way that everyone within the waiting room can hear everything being said. This included staff talking about non-work related issues. While I was personally treated professionally, a bit concerning was how rudely the staff spoke to clients who were newcomers/who spoke English as a second language. They were unwilling to make any extra effort in helping them navigate the services they needed.

I called in advance to find out if my Fiancé from Montréal could get her blood work done and billed to her Quebec Healy card. I was told that it would be absolutely no problem. After spending money on parking and waiting for more than an hour, we were told no. What a fucking joke!!! The Asian lady didn’t even understand why a immune suppressed person would need a mask to protect themselves from all the sickly people in the waiting area. The Worst.

So this is where I am in my Unilocal life. Reviewing places where I give blood for testing purposes. Am I bored? Dedicated? Let’s opt for the latter option. So anywhoo, I don’t think anyone looks forward to having blood taken. This place makes it easy. No appointment necessary. You take a number from the desk(next to where the crabby receptionist is sitting). Receptionist calls your number. You present your requisition and health card — these had best be filled correctly lest you receive an earful. You sit down. Nurse calls your name and you give blood. My nurse was a kind black lady. I think she was a mom cause she kept comforting me. Fifteen minutes, in and out.

I’ve been to many CML locations in the past. But this one has by far one of the most unprofessional and at times arrogant staff. Wait time is well over an hour, no matter how many people are in the room, and no matter how many lab technicians are there. Often I noticed that lab technicians chit chat amongst each other about non-work related affairs.
