What is the problem with Mexican Food in Toronto?! Everywhere I go everyone claims that they are authentic? But every time, I left disappointed! Casa Corona is really one of the nicer restaurants in the area as it is fairly new. This is not a neighbourhood I frequented and no way I going to walk here alone at night. My Unilocal Friend got excited with the huge TV showing soccer… so I gracefully let him face the TV while I just daydream… Daydreaming that good tasting Mexican food would have transported me from this cold Canadian winter to the little small town in Mexico where people are friendly and the food are delicious! Mole con Pollo($ 12.50) Chicken breast, covered with mole sauce, made with bittersweet chocolate adobo, nuts, exotic spices & herbs, sprinkled with sesame seeds served with beans & rice Tacos($ 12) Four soft tortillas served with barbacoa(beef) and pastor(pork) In this neighbourhood, at the price point, in a takeout place setting, I found the food overpriced. Not much flavours and even a little bland. My Unilocal friend kept dipping everything into the hotter pepper sauce they provided to bring some life back to the tacos. Mole sauce did have a more complex nutty flavour but I still find it meh… Tortilla chips were really oily which not helping my experience! Service though is really friendly! But sadly I am here for the food… I might come back to watch soccer games, drink cerveza and yell GOOOOOOAAAAAL, but definitely not for the food!
