More of a 3.5 Went here after class for some drinks and a quick bite. Service was slow to get things going, but good enough. Had some wine and shared some sweet potato fries and wings. The fries were tasty, but the portion was small for 7 $. The wings were good too. Not too bony or fatty. Not bad for an after class venue to grab a drink.

I’ve been to Bedford several times over the years — the patio is great when the weather is nice and the inside has an authentic pub feel. My last visit was with a large group for a going-away party — our waitress was very sweet and super accommodating even with all of us mingling.

Two of us ordered the brisket beef dip sandwich, advertised as a staple item at this place. The meat was too tough to eat out of the sandwich, could only be eaten with a knife and fork after a lot of chewing, the sandwich bread was burnt to a crisp… definitely not a $ 16 sandwich. In combination with this the service was extremely slow, and took a really long time for us to get the bill or refills on anything.

beer selection is the usual and priced fairly given the area. poutine is SWIMMING in gravy — like i love my gravy as much as the next girl, but please, hold it. can be loud-ish on weekends. servers are nice enough. variety of seating depending on how big your party is. prosciutto appetizer is not that yummy. basic place to chill and have beers with friends.

Went on a Friday, about 6pm. I was meeting a friend whom I hadn’t seen for many many years and looking forward to chatting it up. I got there first, and since it was threatening rain, I went inside to save a table in the ‘front room’. Oh wow! Talk about Loud! I didn’t think people could be so loud having convos. When my friend arrived, the server got us a table by the bar, where it was much better. food — we just had nachos and ‘famous’ chicken fingers — trust me there is no reason why these should be famous; even though ‘their fresh made to order’. There is nothing ‘awesome’ about them(as our server described). Nachos were, meh… cheese and tinny tasting tomato sauce with a lot of jalepenos. Fresh salsa would have been a lot better. I do think this would be a great place to socialize with a group of friends for drinks. Good selection of beer, limited cocktail menu. I think this place likely is just known for a good hang out down town to have drinks. Even though I didn’t have a main(course), I would be apprehensive doing so if the appies were just passable.

Kinda iffy about this place. Some of the pros: great neighbourhood, nice patio space that’s good for big groups, good selection of beers, good customer service, excellent fries. Cons: the rest of the food, honestly it was mediocre. I had the Calabria burger which came to $ 16 and while I appreciate the burgers being prepared in house I found it a little underwhelming. My friend’s hanger steak was also on the rare side when he’d requested mid-rare. This place is not really in my neighbourhood but if I come back here it will be to enjoy the patio, the beers, and the fries.

Very decent pub with pretty good food and drink selection and professional, efficient staff. The macaroni cheese with chorizo is the heartiest meal I’ve had in a long time and the cocktails are pretty nice and well priced. A great place to make your local.

Given my evening classes at UofT I have started trying out the pubs in the area after class and none of them has impressed me more than this one. A very cozy place, great for small crowds but also suited to larger groups. Great beer selection(including the Belgian Delerium, one of my favourites) and solid food every time — great nachos, calamari, fries etc. Tried the wings once as well and they were excellent. Really love coming to this place more than any other in the area. Well done…

Great spot. For all the time i’ve lived in Toronto and the Annexx, i never knew this bar existed and i’m glad to have discovered it(albeit late). It’s low key, pub style, great patio, good crowd(think graduates and profs) and even better for a summer night.

Great location, nice big patio, good beer selection… Nothing to complain about there! They have this Irish red ale on tap that is super delicious. Just be warned, their portion sizes are pretty big and the food is quite rich. No need to order too much food… their three course fixed price deal was just too much! But overall I was impressed. Went back for brunch and it wasn’t quite as good, but dinner/drinks were great.

I’ve been several times to Bedford House. It’s a little overpriced but the food is quite good and beer selection is decent. The vegetable melt is one of the only vegetarian options on the menu but it is quite delicious. The other is the Butternut Squash Ravioli, very tasty but again a little overpriced and a touch too oily. Service is great, atmosphere is very nice in the front half.

This place is a gem! My boyfriend and I sat on the patio and had beers and burgers this afternoon. The food, atmosphere and service impressed me so much that I decided to write my first Unilocal review. As a professional cook, I must say, you are really getting your money’s worth here. My New York Burger was tender, juicy, and piled with crispy bacon. The house salad that came with it was not your average«romaine lettuce, out of season tomatoes and some sliced cucumber,» it was perfectly dressed baby lettuces sprinkled generously with pecans, goat cheese and dried cranberries. I was happy and pleasantly surprised! I could tell that the food was prepared with a lot of care. The place was busy, but we never felt neglected. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The rest of the front of house staff were all very pleasant and they seemed to be having a good time! I love that. Also, the patio is glorious.

The food was awful. I had a steak — if you have steak on your menu you should know how to make it! I ordered a med-rare prosciutto wrapped tenderloin with truffled mashed potatoes and seasonal veg — Doesn’t that sound awesome! What I got was a medium cooked steak with some medium-well parts, covered in cheese with no proscuitto, grainy dry instant mashed potatoes with no sign of truffle, and 5 very thin and over-cooked asparagus. No pride in the dish what-so-ever. But it was $ 20 so I guess that is what you get for $ 20.

The Bedford Academy has become an institution over the time. Prices went up in Yorkville, so they did at the Bedford. But the pub remains very attractive with great service, large patio good for groups, some really nice spots(especially upstairs). The 2 bars are comfortable to sit for those who like sitting at the bar. If you’re polite with the waitresses, they give you an amazing service, with feedback, table checking, … Large choice of drinks, food is ok but overrated for the prices that are really high nowadays. It is rare to find a pub that is great for group or for a couple, for winter time of for summer time. The Bedford Academy is one of those.

I went here for a quick dinner after landing in Toronto for 2 days worth of meetings. The atmosphere was a typical warm pub environment. We were greeted and seated almost immediately. The menu selection was pretty good overall. Including the starters menu selection(will need to check out the prime rib poutine next time) to main courses ranging from Mac and cheese, Sandwiches/burgers, pasta dishes to ribs. I ended up ordering the New York burger and fries. The burger was very flavorful and the same with the fries. I was so hungry that I completely devoured it in no timwe. My colleagues ordered a variety of sandwiches and one ordered the very rich Mac and cheese(which they could not finish). Service was very attentive and all the staff were very hospitable. I would definitely come back when craving a nice burger close by the hotel.

After having been to lots of pubs around U of T, I was so very surprised to see the menu and taste the food at the Bedford Academy. It was very very good! The atmosphere is great, though it’s similar to lots of the other pubs, but this place combines it with good grub. Side note: I saw Woody Harrelson once when I was here!

Went to Bedford Academy for after work drinks on Wednesday. Right by a subway station, it’s in a pretty convenient location. There’s also a lot of parking around. The décor is pretty neat– in the dining area, you feel like you’re in someone’s home. Service was excellent — our server came around often with refills of drinks. Since I pigged out on a free lunch at work, I wasn’t too hungry. I had the French Onion Soup — not too salty, I found it to be pretty tasty. Can’t wait to return! Good for: after work drinks, groups

I’ve always walked right past this place and never stepped into it because I was always on my way somewhere. One evening my boyfriend and I were hot after walking in the heat wave and decided to step onto the patio to grab a beer. I didn’t order food, so I can’t talk about the food. Here is my experience! We order two beers, 8.00 for a pint — pretty expensive. If I order an 8 dollar beer, I want the service to come with that price tag. The service was downright awful. I think it was because we were in Yorkville only ordering a beer, but we should have been treated like everyone else. Both of our beers were empty and we waited about 15 minutes(we wanted the bill.) — no sign of our waitress. Then my boyfriend goes inside to look for her and can’t find her so he asks the bartender — he just shrugs instead of looking for her. He comes back to the table and still no sign of her. After 25 minutes I asked a different waitress for our bill and at about the 30 mark — our waitress comes back without the bill and asks us what we want. No communication between waitresses. It took an hour and a bit from what should have been 20 minutes tops. Not going back just based on service alone.

Close to a subway station(St. George), close to UofT, plenty of patio space, decent bar food, and tasty mojitos. Don’t have to ask me twice. Even if you aren’t outside, I’ve always found the mansion space inside to be pretty cool. Stayed there with friends for what must of been three hours or so which included one meal, and easy drinking and casual conversation throughout. We were constantly looked after by the staff. Bar food was good as far as bar food goes. 4 years after frequent visits as a student, my positive impression of Bedford hasn’t changed one bit.
