Good selection of cycling gear but the service is so inconsistent. On the same shift you’ll find 2 great employees a couple indifferent and a couple half asleep so your experience really depends who you get. The quality of service is much more varied than other stores. I’d say they have a better selection than mec but staff don’t seem to have any training in customer service at all.

I Forgot how BIG this store was… was in the area looking for some shirts and a Camel Pack for biking, stopped by Trailhead and they had one style of «Hydration System»…stopped over to Bushtukah and they probably had 10 – 15 types, styles, colours… good job.

This store is every adventure-lover’s dream! Absolutely massive and stocked with every single gadget, gizmo and item of clothing an active person could require, it is my first stop when I need some new gear. My favourite thing about Bushtukah is it’s expansive women’s section. Most active-wear stores have smaller women’s sections with little to no variety in size or colour. The same is not true for this gem though. In fact, I can’t wait to stop in and look for a rain jacket for my upcoming West Coast Adventure. Yoga pants, water bottles, hiking boots and pedometers; I can always find what I am looking for. This store also has lots of gear for various sports such as snowboarding, skiing, golf and even paddle boarding. Their product is always stocked and their staff is extremely knowledgable. I have never had a bad experience and never feel intimidated asking questions or inquiring about a product. The bike selection is great as well, and if I was in the market, it would be the perfect place to go. This store is really cool, definitely up to date with an extremely knowledgable staff.

If you need a new bike or just want to get more into cycling I’d highly recommend Bushtukah. Anytime I’ve been inside this place it’s been crawling with staff but they’re very laid back and not pushy and they really do know their stuff. They have an open shop that allows you to see the staff working. Their service department offers great deals, especially if you purchase a bike from them. But it’s more than a bike shop, in fact it’s much more but their bike department is most impressive. There is a huge selection of tends — from family campground tents to single person adventure tents. They also have a huge clothing department although it seems their selection for women is larger than that for men. Bushtukah can be a zoo in the spring and pretty much any weekend so it’s best to stop in on a weeknight. The Westboro area where the store is located is a haven for outdoorsy people.

I went here today looking for cycling gloves, shoes, and new cleats… and walked out with that as well as lights, an odometer, a saddle, new pedals, and a new bike. The guy who helped me with shoes, Zach, was fantastic. He came over to ask me if I needed any assistance when I was looking at gloves, and I admitted pretty immediately that I’ve been riding all over hell and back on a 25 year old bike with accessories purchased primarily at Wal-Mart. He was happy to tell me anything and everything I wanted to know about gloves. I think that if I’d said I wanted to try every flippin’ glove in the store, he would have been happy to tell me what he knew about every single one. Anyways, I’m pretty easy to satisfy(good breathability, good fit, and red… I’m happy) and so we moved on to shoes and he was awesome over there, too. When I said that I had huge feet, he said, «I like when people have big feet!» This is something I’ve never heard before and was pretty excited about. He also didn’t give me any crap about wanting men’s gloves or shoes. I wish that he’d been able to help me with the bikes, but we got another guy for that. I don’t know if this guy was pissed because we had an awkward convo at the start when I was asking about frame sizes that emphasized how much taller I am, but whatever. He was condescending and humorless. He knew his crap(or told us that he didn’t know instead of trying to pretend that he knew), so it was fine. Nevertheless, I really dislike being treated like a ding dong simply because I started cycling about a year ago and have been using my dad’s old bike. When I’d talked to another salesperson, they said that I might be able to trade the 2-year free service on the bike for a larger discount, but the dude who helped me with the bike shut that down the second I asked(and wasn’t all that pleasant about it). I was interested because I live in Texas, which is certainly not nearby and close enough for me to hop on over for a tune-up, but I guess that’s not an option. Anyways. They have everything I could think of for my bike and their staff is super knowledgable. Zach went on at length about cleats and their positioning and talked to me for like 5 minutes about how the ball of your foot should be positioned in relation to the pedal… long story short, they answered all of my questions and were very helpful. One of them was a bit of a prick, but whatever.

Not perfect, but not far off it. Cannot say I am impressed by the boat section range or staff hepfulness(but then I just heard today that they are winding up that part of the business), but the bike section rocks. The staff in the bike shop are not only helpful but they know their stuff. And if they screw up, they sort it out without charge or hassle. And what makes it a great store is that if they do not have an item in stock, they will recommend a reliable bike shop/repair shop in the area. Oh yes, the prices are VERY reasonable and much less than the big-box stores.

The bike staff here are excellent! They really try to help you find the right bike and not one that is just the most expensive. Great selection of Gary Fishers. Good selection of triathlon and running clothing!

I just moved to Ottawa and Bushtukah is just damn impressive. I went there for cycling gear and they are as stocked as any bike shop I’ve ever seen. But they do cross country skiing and snow shoeing and outdoor clothing as well. It’s massive, the selection is great and the staff is friendly.
