Cute little place, and I mean little — room for maybe 12, with a few more small tables outside. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the satay peanut vegetable & tofu phở(vegetable broth based, so suitable for vegans!), which is by far the best phở I’ve had. Huge portions as well for a reasonable price(soups are in the $ 9 vicinity). Service is friendly — however, the woman doing the cooking usually has to take my order as one of main ladies barely speaks a word of English(why get a non-English speaker to take orders?). Highly recommended

This place is very close to my condo so I’ve been there a few times. The Vietnamese subs are pretty good though they could have more meat. The fried spring rolls are pretty terrible and very, very, very, expensive. They cut a pencil sized spring roll in half and call it 2. I felt like I was being punked when I saw it, then realised I was just being mugged. Portions on the entrée items are tasty but small and rather expensive for what you get.

I have nothing but great things to say about their vegetable and tofu phở. I’ve eaten in 3 times in 2 weeks and I think I’m addicted. My husband really really liked it too. The broth is flavourful, the vegetables are fresh and crunchy and the noodles are cooked to perfection. It feels like such a healthful option when you need a little pick me up packed with nutrients.

First of all, Fruit flies everywhere. I could not eat without having to swat them away every two seconds. Also, terrible service from the lazy waitress. I eat phở all the time and this is really one of the worst places I’ve been too. The sanitation issues here are absolutely abysmal.

Stopped by last night to check it out, we were not disappointed! A very quaint and unassuming location, service was good and the food was excellent. Obviously a popular location to eat in and take out. For a Tuesday evening the place was busy with both tables and take out. We’ll definitely return again!

First time here and last time here! Do not go to a restaurant because you read a recent review from any local paper. My mistake. Their treatment and food prep is different than for the average customer, and even more variant if you belong to another culture. The corporations get the best quality and amount for the lunch orders. Friday is a busy night — no problem for the sushi place even though it got closed down for hygiene/rats issue a few months ago. This place has new owners. Only two tables for this place at dinner time! slowwww even with new restaurant review. I suspect its their attitude. ******************** 1 star for the Bön Buo Hue soup $ 9.25 — tasty but not a rich broth(I suspect a lot of sauce, not the traditional stock) a great amount of meats but less noodles and they are fatter and rounder. Comes with bean sprouts etc. A lot of oil and spice. Asked for no spice or at least no extra oily chili sauce and was asked«What do you WANT?» no spice… serviced with tons of oily chili sauce. When I approached the person who was serving me water(not main server) she looked at me with blank eyes and no response. I ordered shrimp paste on cane appetizer $ 4.00 for only 2 small skewers with nearly paper thin shrimp paste. They were not lumps but paper thin! and came on a bed of cold vermicilli noodles. I asked her why only 2 and why so thin? She blamed it on the Chef and did not have my server take care of the concern. There is a huge indifference and almost like they hate to serve anyone but their own. Language was not an issue but slightly. I think they both understood but act like they don’t. 1. Arrive and with a scowl on the main servers face, and a big smile on mine she looks at me blankly and then I ask where to sit she says wherever. 2. Brought tepid water from sink — HUGETASTEOFMETAL, not really water but metal. I could not drink it. Neither server nor water server ask me if i would like tea or water like the did with the other table who were people of their own background. The only way I found out was to ask the other table what they were drinkign and they said the server asked them if they wanted tea or water… nope not for me! I told the server, I would like tea served just like they did for the other table. HUGEDIFFERENCEOFTREATMENT! Got some green tea in a black cup. tasted weak but better than the water. 3. More scowl and moodiness they take my order as I try to barely squeeze to get through the large amount of junk in the long hallway to get to the bathroom — clean and no smell! good. ½ star 4. I order appie and soup. Appie as you see above was a waste of money and literally nothing to it. No one comes to address or correct it. 5. Soup arrives. No one comes to ask if it tastes ok or if meal ok. No one arrives later to check if I want anything else or if want something more from menu. 6. Could not flag them down during the whole meal and same with other tables. Two people in the kitchen — 2 serving and taking food order and cooking and taking money! lots to do. 7. I pay and leave to not come back again where I feel I’m ignored, not wanted and not taken seriously or at the very least NOTGIVENTHESOUPTHAT I REQUESTED. No spice! is simple! What was worse was the snort of laughter coming from the other guests at the table next to me when I asked for no spice and the far reaching and bending to see and hear my complaints… they talked in their own language and made comments to eachother but not the servers thankfully. Very rude and so I took care of it by innocently and politely asking what they ordered and told them I drink tea, and I eat the same food as they do but cannot eat spices to that degree because it upsets my digestion. HAHA! yeah! I heard you even though I don’t speak your language… when you are all silently eating and I speak and you make a rude mocking comment and laugh, I can understand! Huge difference of treatment between my table and others from their background. $ 14 and NOTIP. Debit, credit and cash ok. I liked the previous owners… :(I would come back here again if it were not for their mood and bad service.

My daughter had the fantastic idea of going out for Phở for lunch while we were on a getaway weekend in Vancouver. We asked the nice parking attendants at Capilano Park where we could find some good Phở. They directed us to the vicinity of 3rd and Lonsdale in North Vancouver, but didn’t recommend a specific restaurant. We stumbled upon Phở Bön Mua, and what a great find! My family of four each ordered a different item off the menu. My daughter had phở with chicken, son had phở with beef, husband had beef bahn mi, and I had peanut satay noodle soup with tofu and vegetables. We also had tofu and shrimp spring rolls. Yumola! Everything was delicious! Also, the two women who ran the place were very sweet. Great place for lunch after visiting Capilano Suspension Bridge park!

I’ve been to Phở Bön Mua a number of times now. The food is always excellent. I love the phở and the chicken and pork noodle dishes. I would also recommend the Vietnamese iced coffee. The food is fresh and extremely tasty. The interior is a bit small and irregular, but the food is worth it. A great take out place, and the best phở I’ve tasted in North Van.

I ordered the stir fried vegetables with rice and chicken. The chicken tasted really old and uncooked. I did not enjoy my food at all. The lady who was serving us gave my boyfriend so much attitude only because he asked for an extra fork. The food was also too spicy.

Obviously I completely disagree with GS and Leah V. The flavours are fresh, deep and complexed. I have had 3 Phở dishes and all were equally amazing. I’ve tried a few of the appies as well and all were fantastic. The staff are charming and friendly and its a great value. I was still finding beef at the bottom of the bowl. Try the Sateé peanut soup! Or the Garlic Wings! Our favourite Phở in Van, hands down.

Tough Unilocalers, or Unilocaler, sounds like the same one, so much hate lol. Just coming off a snack at Menchie’s close by, while walking back, you can only imagine my beady little eyes as soon as I saw their bright yellow sign for Grand Opening… when it comes to new Vietnamese places, watch out, get out of my way. Since I’ve had phở and vermicelli lately, decided to go a different route, and the chicken wings definitely meaty and tasty. But the highlight is their iced coffee. Clearly, the best in North Van and #2 in my Top 5, after my beloved One Saigon in DT. The right amount of sweetness, and the flavour is clearly distinct — almost like a caramel. Served in a tall glass. Small, tight place, just one 4 seater table, and three 2-seaters. Not really a date place, but fast and casual. Debit/cash only. Friendly, gorgeous service ;) Free, angled parking in front.

Somewhat disappointed — better value for money elsewhere. There was very little meat in our noodle bowl and my spicy noodle bowl was too salty. I asked for hot water to drink and when it was brought to the table, the server promptly took it away again saying it was the wrong one, then came back 5 minutes later with another hot water that looked identical to the first — we had no idea why this happened. Also, it’s a very small location, and every time someone came to the cashier we felt like they were practically standing in our lap! We prefer to drive the distance to revert to our tried and true phở places in Burnaby. Too bad as this location is much closer to us.

No longer Hanoi Bistro… And the Phở is severly suffering for it. The small reataurant has been recently updated and looks more modern and fresh than before. The younger group that now works here are friendly and willing to make you feel well taken care of. They still offer a 10% discount for takeout, and have added an additional special where they will give you 2 spring rolls when you order $ 20+ for takeout(although they forgot to give us ours). I used to eat Hanoi Bistro’s Phở Noodle Soup just to get to the broth; I couldn’t get enough of how incredibly good their broth was! It was made by a sweet couple who owned Hanoi Bistro before… but this is NOT that same place!!! I searched for years for something with the love and depth of flavor that Hanoi Bistro had: and as a bonus, it gave me no MSG hangover and treated my taste buds to a hint of cloves… This broth retaines the previous broths deep amber color, but there is nothing deep in its flavor and has no other comparison to the older one. It is overly sweet, and you can’t tell if it is beef or chicken or vegetable based. At the bottom of all our bowls was a Tablespoon of dark(powder? sludge? bullion?) non-appetizing gunk that we tried to swirl back into our broth before pouring, but it added nothing in flavor, and quickly resettled to the bottom of our bowls. I cooked my beef strips to well done(I usually eat med-rare), and found the cuts slightly chewy. I was so disappointed that I lost my appetite and gave up eating well before I got half way through my bowl. If you want an average Phở, it will fit the bill nicely… But don’t expect anything special anymore.
