you know me, the less cafés of this kind, the better we’d be. what you say? café vienne is part of a group of cafés(which also includes presse café) going after the big ones like timmies, second cup and so. it was the big rage back in my university days as they are owned by local montrealers and that was the goal of the get together group. sadly, by going after the lowest common denominator, you’re setting the bar of quality very low despite telling yourself you have the best whatever. they say they have the best coffee, they don’t. maybe better than timmies but its not even italian quality. probably more insulting, the asking price. indie café pricing. food? ugh and expensive. i guess if you are really stuck like say there’s a crazy ass blizzard(similar to what the US east coast got recently) or something like the day after tomorrow and you are totally stuck inside with no way to get out or it’d be a bad idea to do so and all you can do is pray that dennis quaid is coming to save your ass, in such situation, i’d say food is food so totally viable then. and those cookies. i went back recently thinking them cookies should be the better food item. well, they are nothing to write home about either. its no better than commercial grocery store bought cookies. some are plastic sealed while others are saran wrap wrapped(bake in house for those) but they just taste very sweet. the oatmeal cookie which was probably the healthiest looking of the bunch was deceiving. expensive, taste exactly like some of the commercial oatmeal cookies and highly sweet. frankly, i don’t know how fresh they were. could be a couple of days old for all i know. now, why you go here? curiosity. i like finding new shit. sometimes what is considered bad by some could turn out to be the greatest thing. ok, this sounds fucking hipster. but really, it’s good to know in case there’s a fucking emergency and the city is overrun by zombies and everyone is fighting for the good places so you instead, being the smart boy(or girl) that you are, can go after the least fought place and have a shit load more food albeit not good but food is food in time of crisis. omg, you so mean you meanie! no, not really. i’m just sharing my love of good food and if i inspire people to better their taste buds and demand quality, hopefully healthy quality then, great. anyway, they are only open during normal business hours(no weekend) so you are not missing anything at all unless its the zombie apocalypse

It’s o.k., but just o.k. Food is under-seasoned. Decent variety of offerings considering it is only open for breakfast & lunch, but just so so. Clean, neat décor. cool jazz playing most of the time. comfortable and relaxed. Prices aren’t cheap. A can of pop will set you back $ 2, and a sandwich about $ 6 – 7(without extras).

This is a nice café on the ground floor of a former textile factory turned office building. i can’t speak for the quality of the coffee, as I don’t drink coffee, but the food is good, and fairly reasonably priced. In addition to standard deli sandwiches they have several vegetarian sandwich and meal options, as well as a nice variety of desserts. Free wifi is available upon request, and the café has it’s own restrooms inside. The café is only open during normal business hours, Monday to Friday.

Can’t even get a decent soup and sandwich. Sandwich wasn’t bad, there just wasn’t anything good about. The soup is watered down canned soup they refill with green beans to lower food cost and still charge you more. The Sprite was OK. Never going back. Sadly the only restaurant in my office building.
