Oh boy, never ever going back here… This was a couple of years ago, maybe a miracle happened and things have changed but I’ll share my experience because I’ll always remember it: Went with a group of 10 coworkers for a night out after work. It was nice weather so we stayed on the patio. Hardly any service at all. When there was service half of the order was incorrect or just missing. The selection of beers was disappointing, coors/bud/rickards and some generic«craft»(«craft» for the molson/sapporo macro breweries that is) and that’s as good as it gets. The personnel was dressed like they were working at a strip club and were unfriendly besides being inattentive. Among ourselves we had an ok time regardless but the most memorable part had yet to come when it was time for the bills. The bills were mostly incorrect, and after everyone in our group forgave the crappy service by giving a decent tip the waitress came back outside to ask if there was something wrong because we didn’t tip enough!!! So rude! Never coming back here. In fact here’s a tip: just go next door,(the ship) or even better two doors down(the winking judge), you’ll have a much better night!

Wow. I walked in with high hopes but was quickly let down. The service was OK. Not over attentive but they didn’t ignore us. Atmosphere was nice. Not too loud and the booths were comfy. We ordered the Calamari as an app. a bad choice. It’s grilled not deep fried. Which I prefer. But when I tried to cut it with my knife I realized I’d chosen poorly. Tasted and felt like a rubber band. +1 and I both ordered fish and chips. A huge disappointment considering it was labelled a house specialty. Tasteless and mostly batter. The spicy mayo for the sweet potatoes fries had an unidentifiable weird unexpected flavour. A band was about to start when we decided to leave. I can’t imagine how loud they would have been on that small space. Last thoughts. I’d go for a drink with friends. But never food.

Its OK. Patio is nice but every bar on the street has one. Wings were sauced with, what appeared to be, grocery store BBQ sauce, and washrooms unclean. Prices cheap. Live music a decent touch but you get what you pay for.

Decided to go to The Ship for dinner tonight, after reading Unilocal reviews and found that it was too busy so decided to go into the Augusta House a few doors down. Was pleasantly surprised by the food, atmosphere and service here. The gentleman that served us was awesome as well as the bar staff. Although we had an issue with the customers in the other booth, we had a good time. we started with the spinach dip(which was fantastic) and then ordered the Creole Chicken sandwich and the prime rib burger. Both entrees were fantastic and somewhat affordable. The only downside was the add-ons for the entrees were not disclosed properly and evidently payed $ 6.00 extra in the end. Great experience. Would recommend!

A great atmosphere and good staff made dining here a very pleasant experience. While there are televisions on showing sporting events, I didn’t find the noise from them to be distracting or difficult to speak over. An issue I’ve had with other pubs so I found it easier to interact and mingle with friends when dining at the Augusta House. The menu is also very good. The few times I have been there I’ve had the burger which was very good. I also ate the spicy pulled pork sandwich a few times, and that sandwich was amazing. I’ve also enjoyed going on Wednesday nights for their 2 for 1 boneless wing special. The boneless wings are available in a variety of great flavours and they alone are worth showing up for. Friendly staff, great food and a good atmosphere makes the Augusta house one of the better options for dining in Hamilton. I would highly recommend it and plan to go back very soon.

Great food and drink. It’s a really awesome place to relax with friends until some over the hill band lives out their fantasies and drowns out the small place with bad rock and roll. Great atmosphere when there is no live music to ruin it. The signage on the door says they will turn you away if you are not dressed to spec, but I think that is more to keep out undesirables. I’ve gone in jeans and t-shirt.

Arrived at noon. Ordered a glass of wine on the patio and said I was waiting on someone. One of them showed up at 12:10 and grabbed a beer at the bar before calling me since he didn’t see me on the patio. The other person was closer to 12:40. No service until almost 1pm when we had to ask(I had only said one person joining me, serving more than 45 minutes as far as he was concerned). The people who ordered at the same time we did were finished their meal for 10 minutes. We had ordered a salad, a sandwich, and a burger. Shortly after 1:30, I went to the back of the restaurant and asked if I could«help deliver our food». His response was that he was«looking after our bill and we could go now». I asked what that meant and he said that we would not be served our food. My guests had to return to their offices without food since they were already beyond their allotted lunch hour. My understanding is that the server was in fact the manager of that establishment or the«Pheasant Plucker» across the street(same owner). I was told his name might be Malcolm and he might be the owner. What a piece of work! I have never been so poorly treated. NEVERAGAIN!!!

My visit was on a Saturday night with some friends, we had a bite and a few beers. The food was great and presented well. The order came promptly and the service was friendly. This wasn’t my first visit, but it was the first time I ate here. We stayed for some of the live music, Saturdays are their Motown theme, and it didn’t disappoint. The menu had some good selections that were better that what you’ll find in most places. The salmon was very good. Decent selection of beers on tap, and the place itself had a good atmosphere. It was clean and inviting. I will be back.

I’ve never actually had a bite to eat at the Augusta House, but it’s a great venue to grab a drink, relax with friends and catch some great live music. The Augusta House is certainly one of the more upscale venues on Augusta Street, and the crowd and vibe of the bar certainly reflects that. If you’re a Hamiltonian looking to for a mature crowd that enjoys a few drinks and conversation with good friends, I highly suggest giving the Augusta House a shot!
