I have a mix relationship with Ms. Sephora… I step inside and my anxiety rises. The crazy adolescents to the lost souls wondering about… It’s absolutely bonkers. The long insane line to the cash register makes me want to turn around and walk out. But… I just cannot not shop there. They carry everything a girl needs. From Bobbie Brown to Clinique, my mom would be able to find her brand. They are usually up to date with all the latest new make-up fads. I don’t ask for help from the girls because I already know what I’m getting but if I see a girl with fabulous makeup and looks absolutely amazing I will definitely ask her what she’s using. Otherwise I’m in and out. Can’t help but be back…

I stopped in to check out Sephora’s new store briefly during my most recent visit to Southgate Mall. Perhaps it was because the move was recent, but the new store seemed a lot cleaner and less cluttered versus the previous location. While I was there, someone had broken a bottle of foundation on the floor and it seemed like staff were quick to start cleaning it up. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so I can’t say I shop at Sephora or stores like it very often. One thing I look for in makeup is transparency when it comes to ingredients(e.g., no «fragrance»), primarily because I have had some allergic reactions to makeup products in the past. Even though Sephora carries a lot of mid– to high-end makeup brands, from what I saw they don’t carry a lot of items that fit this criterion. On this particular occasion I wanted to grab some Clinique lipstick, but I couldn’t seem to find any Clinique items in the store, even after two rounds of wandering! I may have missed it, or perhaps they no longer carry the brand. Oh well! I ended up going to the Bay because the search was much less annoying. Sephora does have a large selection of brands and products to choose from, and if you regularly wear makeup or are looking for a specific brand this might be a great location to stop at.
