As mentioned in previous reviews, not the best customer service, but fantastic Ukrainian food that I have been searching for in Edmonton. I stocked up the other day to get ready for Easter. Currently they are selling paska(Ukrainian Easter bread), which made me happy that I can save time not baking my own. I also bought two different kinds of kobasa(ham & garlic and pork tenderloin) — both very good, a jar of beets with horseradish and a bag each of pyrohy and holubtsi. I am now a very happy Ukrainian girl! I definitely recommend trying out some of their wares if you are longing for your Ukrainian grandmother or mother’s cooking.

This place is the BEST of the BEST. I’ve been eating Marchyshyn’s since I was in diapers. When I was younger and my grandparents would come to visit us from Edmonton, they used to bring a suitcase FULL of Marchyshyn’s Sausage! This place isn’t very fancy, you come here to get meat. It isn’t about the décor or the customer service. This is about the MEAT. Their product is absolutely outstanding. There is NO filler in this product. When you bite into this sausage, it’s like a party in your mouth. The product is always fresh and you can taste the smoke, pork and garlic. Bill, the owners son, can be a little intimidating, but don’t let that stop you from coming here. You won’t be sorry.

As you can see by the reviews, their service is pretty appalling. It is difficult to find out about the range of their products because they don’t display or explain them(except for the minimal sausage at the front, which isn’t labeled, differentiated or described). And don’t bother asking because they are hardly helpful in explaining what they have. In terms of product itself, the sausage is fantastic. This totally meets the mark. That being said, I am super disappointed that we bought the bag of cabbage rolls. Given that cabbage and rice are two very cheap things to buy, $ 14 for 24 extremely sub-par cabbage rolls was a burn. I was expecting better from them. They weren’t even just ‘meh’, they were practically inedible.

I can tell you this, the kulbassa burgers and my favorite, paprika pork is amazing. Despite the«little old lady in the back» and her uptight and uncouth personality, I would go back for the food. The others are a little nicer and friendly, probably all related and is run by a family. Don’t let the atitude of one spoil the business for others.

Weird location, weird people lurking around, what more could you want? I went to Marchyshyn’s after overhearing someone talk about it the other day. I instantly stalked them via internet and found they have a facebook page, website etc etc. When I went the staff wasn’t tooo helpful with describing what the meats were but it seemed like the kind of place you go to if you know exactly what you want. So after a bit of back and forth I decided to go with 1lb Kuba-roni and ½lb Ham Kobasa sausage for $ 16. The Kuba-roni is like no pepperoni stick I have ever had, the snap in each bite from the skin was so addicting and the textures were like eating slabs of the best spiced ground meat you have ever had. It has a gorgeous dark honey brown color and you could see all the little spices packed in. The Ham Kobasa was the same, it didn’t have the same texture as any other sausage, more hammy, hence ham kobasa. This one I found didn’t have as much flavor as I expect in a sausage but it was kind of in it’s whole other realm of good. I will definitely be going back soon ! I saw they have blood sausage on the menu so I may have to try it for the first time !

The food is AMAZING but the customer service is AWFUL in fact, it’s so awful it’s appalling. Someone should explain to the older lady that served me that good customer service skills do not involve snapping at the customer, speaking to the customer condescendingly, being short with the customer and generally behaving in an extremely rude and disrespectful manner — if you don’t want to be behind the counter kindly hire someone who does and get the heck outta there.
