Small portions, slow service. Location and monopoly allows the place to survive.

What a cute little place in Edworthy Park. I’m not even sure I knew this place existed but it was suggested by a friend for a coffee date. I’m all about trying new places and supporting local so I was all over this like a wet noodle. It’s a small little place and we sat inside since it was a cool morning and the sun was refusing to come out. I think(I didn’t look) but there is additional seating around the corner, kind of outdoors — it’s possibly covered but still kind of cold on colder days. There are only a couple tables inside so we were lucky to grab a seat. They offer breakfast, lunch bites and snacks on top of coffee and well ice cream. Let me tell you the coffee(cappuccino) was GOOD. We only had coffee but it was a great sip on a colder morning. The table we sat at was right next to a wall of games and books. Talk about cozy and homey — this place is awesome. Just wish it was a little bigger as I suspect it’s rockin in the summer time. Friendly, clean and quaint. We’re coming back for ice cream Angel ;)

«Angel» served us ¼ cup of ice cream for $ 2.50(complete rip-off) then proceeded to ask my children to say thank you. Rude and condescending. Never again«Angel». We will take our business elsewhere thank you.

There are only a few classic ice cream shops in Calgary who can compete with Angel’s. Ice cream lovers of the world, enjoy!

Very cool place in Edworthy park… Nice view and good ice creams… The hot dogs are good as well… Good spot for a stop while in the park. I enjoyed my time there…

My boyfriend and I stopped by here with a dealfind for 2 drinks and a pastry; he got a latte, me a lemonade and we shared a maple apple walnut cake. My lemonade was blended, but for some reason almost half of it is foam, and the foam never really went away. The maple apple walnut cake tasted very dry and stale, like it was stored for 3 weeks in a fridge with garlic. We were really disappointed as this location is so great, but maybe we just need to try some other items on the menu.

This little café is in Edworthy Park near the river bank. They offer lattes, ice cream(scooped and packaged), tea, sandwiches, soup, baked items, etc. The sort of stuff you’d need on a hot day in a park far from most conveniences. There isn’t a lot of seating inside, but there’s some patio furniture outside under a tent and some benches nearby. Service was pleasant. Extra points for having a dog water dish outside.

My fav coffee stop when in the Calgary area. Is on the bike path. Very good food items also. Friendly staff throughout. Will always be my first choice at Calgary.

Decided I would finally stop here for a coffee before grabbing a chair and watching people for the afternoon at Edworthy Park. Good thing Angel’s is so close to the park, otherwise I’m not sure how well it would do. It was definitely busy, which I am assuming is usually the case on really nice days since they serve ice cream. They also serve sandwiches, baked goodies and smokies if you’re hungry. I decided to get a coffee and a slice of banana bread. The young guy who helped me was nice enough, but the woman who I guess runs the place wasn’t too cheery in the back. There was some tension in the air and you could tell she was flustered from the busy-ness. Oh well, I guess that happens to the best of us sometimes. Also note, that wait times for food, such as the smokies, is quite long when busy so don’t stop by here if you are in a rush. I took my stuff outside and sat in one of their lawn chairs provided facing the river — such a nice view there. My coffee wasn’t that great, I’ve had better at gas stations, and the banana bread was bland… which is what it is, but maybe charge a little less for these items. Either way, it’s good this place is close to the park and serves ice cream. Next time, I’d probably only stop for the ice cream.

Ice cream, all day breakfast, snacks, coffee, lattes, steamers and cappuccinos, Angel’s is a lot packed into just a wee porch-three tables in all. There was a mother/son combo running the joint while I was there. I’m going to guess it’s a family run place altogether. As I sat here eating my breakfast bun, I listened to the banter between Cathy, owner, and a couple of regulars. Friendly, fun and upbeat in her demeanor, I found out Cathy is a Maritimer orginally and that Angel’s has been around for about 14 years. The breakfast bun beats out most that I’ve had at any coffee spots in Calgary yet. It was anything fancy, just a straight forward egg, cheese and bacon on a wholesome toasted bun. But it hit the spot. The menu fits the name of Angels… Morning Prayers for breakfast items, Gateway to Heaven for wraps, sandwiches and soups, Garden of Eden(summer only) for the salads, Hugs for Your Soul as the hot drink menu… Not to mention Heavenly Desserts like that peanut butter marshmallow square that stared needlessly at me from the display case. It’s been many a moon since I was last year for some ice cream, but I’m glad to see they’ve still got the ice cream freezer stocked and that ice cream bars and popsicles are still listed on the menu. As the only business this close to Edworthy Park, I can’t wait to find myself strolling along on the next warm spring evening with an ice cream cone in hand.
